I can appreciate a show like this once in a while. It’s weird and crazy and most certainly not for everyone. In fact, I can understand why someone would hate Over the Garden Wall. It isn’t plot-centric and is quite random at times, only occasionally establishing slight goals for the series. But the plot is not what this series is about at all. Neither are the characters. I appreciate the characters and the plot, as both are very good in my opinion, however many may see them as very much flawed. I will, however, state that such things are not why the series gets 5 stars. Over the Garden Wall is more about the experience one has while watching it. For example, you come not for the characters, but for the animation and beautifully created backgrounds. You would bother to watch this show if you have an interest in gorgeous music and brilliant soundtracks, not for Wert or the Beast (though the Beast is one of the most well thought out villains since Bill Cipher). Watch this show if you want to have a good time, not if you want a serious show. There isn’t much left to say about Over the Garden Wall. The soundtrack, music, settings, and animation is stunning and rivals that of Gravity Falls, my favorite show. Watch it.
Oh, and Auntie Whispers is still one of my favorite characters of all time.
