Over The Garden Wall has the best characters, music, scenery, setting, and vibe of any animated show I have ever watched. The story pulls you in with the relatable charters Wirt and Greg. The story captivates me in a way that makes me want to go on a journey similar to that of the main characters. The music; what can I say, it's beautiful. It compliments the scenery so well it almost seems real. Watch it. Enjoy it. Live it. You won't regret it

This is a wonderful mini series about two brothers named Wirt and Greg, who get lost in a forest called "The Unknown", and have to escape with the help of their bird friend Beatrice, while also trying to avoid a creature known as "The Beast". This show is just a great tribute to those classic cartoons from the 20s and 30s, and it also serves as a great mystery. I highly reccomend it.

I was so excited when I found this on iTunes, I bought it right away. I've watched this so many time-this has to be one of my favorite shows from Cartoon Network. It's different than any of the shows I've seen on that station (besides it being a miniseries). It would be something you would have in a dream or find in an old story. The music, story, the art work, and the voice actors are just amazing!!!

Though I understand that it was in fact a miniseries, there's still no denying that the quality level of this series is definitely in my top 5 when it comes to media! The animation is absolutely beautiful, the characters are charmingly complex, and the antagonist is... well, basically a living enigma, setting a wonderful tone to this whimsical tale! Although I didn't watch this when it first came out, my tardiness didn't muffle the wonder of the music, story, setting, and feeling that these episodes... er, 'chapters', provide! No doubt this was worth my wait!

This cartoon was so beautifully created with both it's art style and plot. The style brings people a sense of nostalgia and is just perfect for Halloween time but it's just as fantastic any other time as well. This is probably my favorite cartoon of all time because it seems like a no-thought-needed cartoon but ends up being beautifully symbolic and very well written! I sincerely hope with all of my heart that they make a second season to Over The Garden Wall because it is just absolutely fantastic and is one of those shows that makes you laugh, cry, and feel extremely connected to the characters. You should definitely give this a try! It's great for all ages young, old, and everything in between!

I can appreciate a show like this once in a while. It’s weird and crazy and most certainly not for everyone. In fact, I can understand why someone would hate Over the Garden Wall. It isn’t plot-centric and is quite random at times, only occasionally establishing slight goals for the series. But the plot is not what this series is about at all. Neither are the characters. I appreciate the characters and the plot, as both are very good in my opinion, however many may see them as very much flawed. I will, however, state that such things are not why the series gets 5 stars. Over the Garden Wall is more about the experience one has while watching it. For example, you come not for the characters, but for the animation and beautifully created backgrounds. You would bother to watch this show if you have an interest in gorgeous music and brilliant soundtracks, not for Wert or the Beast (though the Beast is one of the most well thought out villains since Bill Cipher). Watch this show if you want to have a good time, not if you want a serious show. There isn’t much left to say about Over the Garden Wall. The soundtrack, music, settings, and animation is stunning and rivals that of Gravity Falls, my favorite show. Watch it.
Oh, and Auntie Whispers is still one of my favorite characters of all time.

It's says kids, but really I'm 18 and I love it. From the story to the characters, what's not to love. It has a feeling of folk to it, but it's not boring. The best part is that it, in my opinion, has many endings if you think of all the possibilities. Amazing show, it needs to come back

A beutiful work of art, unlike most of what we seen on TV nowadays. This series is focused on two kids lost in a strange magical world, which they are not prepered for at all. A great story, and deeply touching, thus whimsical story, is haunting, magical, touching, and funny. A great story for Fall (because of the sometimes disturbing elements of Hallowen) this show should leave a mark on TV series for a long time

I am a fan of most Cartoon Network shows. I saw this advertised one day and said oh this looks cool. I watched the whole series and immediately purchased it. Over The Garden Wall mixes humor sadness and horror which overall makes it a superior show. It also gives you that old fashioned movie kind of feeling and characters that you can't help but love from beginning to end. This show also accomplished something... The first CN show that has ACTUAL storyline. I am sad though that that this show only has 10 episodes of real Cartoon Network. Although it would be hard since they pretty much closed the story I would do ANYTHING to see Cartoon Network make this a full series. Overall this is the best show I have seen in a while and TOTALLY worth the $9.99 Now will you take a peek over the garden wall

The definition of Over the Garden Wall is instant classic. It Provides great clean cut animation and fantastic storytelling. Kids will be uncomfortable at the start but will end up loving it. Adults will have a great time and they don't even need kids to enjoy. 10/10, if you like gravity falls you will like it. If you enjoy fairytales like hansel and gretel or little red riding hood you will enjoy it. One of my favourite peices of animation of all time :)

This show brings together all of the strange fairy tales, children’s books, urban legends and irrational fears that we all experience as children, the painful and magical pieces of adolescence, and the burdens and joys of adulthood and bundles them together through the naïve eyes of Wirt and Greg. Elijah Wood did a brilliant job of voicing Wirt, producing a profound and powerful character. I am really disappointed that this is a miniseries. I almost cried at the end. You have to watch this. We need more of Over the Garden Wall.

[Over the Garden Wall] was a mini-series that was released on 5 nights in November 2014. The series tells a tale about two lost brothers and a frog trying to find a way home but meet great dangers on their way. The series had a wonderful score and amazing musical numbers. Though in later episodes you learn a secret about the entire storyline. The ending is great. I recommend you buy it and watch it. You won't regret it.

I watched this by myself alone in a dark room-- scared the heck out of me! Then I was VERY happy to watch it again with my room mate, and I will be EXTREMELY happy to watch it a third time with my family at Christmas. I had to buy this series because I really feel like it's worth every penny of $9.99 and I'd like to see more beautiful animated series like this in the future. Long live 2D animation!
Charming characters, beautiful traditional backgrounds, lots of laughs, and a vibe that somehow hovered between quaint and creepy. The last episode had one of the best conclusions in cartoon (hell, film and t.v. in general) history. I'm warning you now though, watch when it's dark out, preferably with blankets and loved ones. Five stars all the way, hopefully cartoon network continues this amazing trend of heart-felt cartoons.

Most cartoons we see today have interesting animation, but not a lot of substance to back it up. Much of it is mindless and not very memorable in the end. With "Over the Garden Wall", you become immersed into the fairytale land with the three main characters (four if you include the frog), and you're sucked into the journey with them until the very end.
The writing, music, animation, and story are altogether a beautfiul masterpiece. Unlike most cartoons today, this show has substance. This show has heart! And it definitely has a special place in my heart and will be remembered years down the road. If you're into a darker kind of fantasy with good storyline and adventure, this is for you.

It's the kind of cartoon that appeals to my inner child as well as the more mature side of me. The animation is almost nostalgic but mordern. This 10 chapter miniseries is an emotional journey that had me laughing my face off one moment and in silent re-evaluation in the next. As soon as I saw the first episode on November 3rd, I knew it wasn't like the other shows. I heard this show premiering since I am a fan of Elijah Wood and it is worth to watch... Absolutely!! I love this show so much. My four younger siblings and I don't mind watching the episodes on repeat.
I can just say that it's such a fun, innocent and exhilarating journey of Greg and Wert! Cartoon Network has came out with unappropriate shows that does have rude humor or content... Except for this beautiful series or back in the 2000's.
Buy it, watch it on a cozy warm room in chilly weather season... It's the BEST series I have seen so far and I hope they can reoccur again in a new journey SOON! Brava to the wonderful creators in directing, storyline, music, script writing, artists, and the voice actors.. Loved everything!! I really loved that small bit of Wert or Elijah Wood singing. I like the show" because of the fantastic animation. Especially when it's only going threw it's first few episodes. Other cartoons start out with rushed or unfinished looking drawings of the main characters. That later in the season or 2nd season fix the details. But the show could be more exciting. It gets my attention but that's only because of the beautiful animation. And I suggest take advise from the creators of old cartoons and not the new cartoons they've been making lately. There horrible! We need the good ones BACK!

Charming and clever mini series. The animation, music, character dialogue is all top notch. This one will definitely leave you with a warm fuzzy feeling when the journey is over.

I’m a fan of Cartoon Network’s “weirder” shows, which began as early as Foster’s and made it down through Flapjack until Regular Show and Adventure Time ascended the throne. This show looks to be a promising complement to those. The lighting effects in this show's impressively animated scenery remind me of a story-book fairy tale (though it’s a bit more Paul Bunyan than Brothers Grimm). Writing is solid on the outset, though I am hoping for a bit more commitment to the dark setting. I look forward to getting to know these two brothers on their strange journey over the garden wall.

Awesome!

Best thing to come out of Cartoon Network in a long time! Cast is awesome, animation is intriguing, and the storyline is well-developed, especially when compared to its contemporaries. Its all like one long movie. Definitely worth buying!

Funny, provacative, and emotional,
with strangeness around everycorner, a mysterious atmosphere, amazing voice work, and excellent music, this show is a masterpiece. The outstanding characters and storytelling lead to many strange and interesting occurances that you won'tbe able to stop watching, or even want to. If you enjoy animation, please take a trip Over the Garden Wall.

This show is wonderful. It gave me chills, made me sad, gave me a sense of loneliness and charm. If you are a fan of Studio Ghibli work such as “Spirited Away” and the show “Adventure Time”, take the best factors of those pieces and mix them with a well-written, enchanting fairytale. I watched it all the way through in one go - the artwork, voice acting, and overall writing is so well done.

While I was excited for this show for a while, I did worry that it would border on twee and feel too self-referential/try-hard. This was not the case! Just from watching interviews with the showrunner, Pat McHale, you can tell that he is completely sincere and really just wants to communicate a specific vibe.
Not only is the plot fascinating, the character's charming, and the dialogue snappy, the atmosphere is spot-on and any animation buff will be blown away by the subtle (and not so subtle) nods to Golden Age animation. The show manages to pay homage to things as totally disparate as Bambi and Fleischer brothers' shorts without feeling muddled (not to mention a few more modern creations). The music is wonderful, my only complaint being that occasionally it would've been nice to hear the songs for a little longer.
The last four chapters are the highlight of the series. The Ringing of the Bell stands out in particular for its flawlessly crafted fairy-tale story, which is somehow classic and original simultaneously. The middle few chapters don't quite stand up to the ending, but a second viewing of the series actually helps them shine a little more.
This show will be a classic in no time, particularly because it is IMMENSELY rewatchable. This is the sort of thing you'll want to own, so you can pull it out every November and eventually show it to your own kids.
Parental Warning: it can be VERY scary, and I wouldn't feel comfortable showing this to kids under the age of 7 or 8. Use your own discretion, as some episodes are easier to handle than others. Definitely prescreen The Ringing of the Bells to make sure your kids are up for it.

Cartoon Network did a good job keeping this series cryptic before release. It has such an atmosphere around it that you can't help but be pulled in. Like any great surrealist story; the environment, the story, the characters, and even the word choice inspires such a sense of wonder and trepidation. I only have one real complaint and that is near the end. What happened in "Into the Unknown" left a bad taste in my mouth with respect to the world created. Over the Garden Wall is great and in a lot of ways pushes the envelope for what CN produces but it stumbles because of what I think is a mood killer. This series will be something I will watch each halloween.

The backgrounds, the music, the art direction, the voice acting are each reason enough to pay $10 for this. I can’t believe what I just saw. I mean yes, there are weak and strong moments, but overall…incredible.

At first, I didn't know what to expect . . . and by the end, I still was a bit confused. But that's okay, because I was all warm and happy inside. This fairy-tale-esque series is a great way to set the mood for the holidays with its seamless blend of humor, horror, and wistful autumn scenery and music. Highly recommended.

Whimsical, emotional, strange, and sometimes a kind of haunting that bleeds all the way into horrifying. A love letter to american folklore, countryside, stories, early cinema and cartooning, and the sometimes creepy whimsy of childhood.
The miniseries format suits the show perfectly; its a self contained story with polished animation and story, and a BEAUTIFUL musical score.
A perfect series for the fall.
