Maybe the pilot episode was a weak episode, but I was disappointed by what I viewed. First, I get all of the potential tie-ins. I know it could reflect slavery and how black students were first integrated into schools in the South. I know "“star crossed” lovers” is a Shakespearian term, reflecting Romeo and Juliet, where two individuals find love where they are not supposed to find it, except this show takes that more literally. I also understand that this show can also reflect how “American’s" view outsiders, some times present hate. But as viewers can argue these points, they can also argue similar points. Isn’t Vampire Diaries largely about the same thing, also "Beauty and the Beat,” and in “Originals.” I am sure there is other shows on the CW with the same match up, like “Reign,” and “Hart of Dixie (northern doctor and southern boys". “Smallville, had it.” Alien and human. So I don’t think this theme is so new a creative. And although the themes could represent so much, the depth of this show is shallow, reflecting on a lousy school where most people are intolerant, and the government is extremely hostile. It depicts such a poor view of society, this country, and the minds of teens. I watched the CW be smart, “Veronica Mars,” “Smallville,” Arrow, and Supernatural. All of these have had a good run. But I’m sorry, this show is a bottom feeder compared to the rest of CW. Poor acting. Starting out with children acting older than they are. And the big bully in school. It is just an ugly show, with no redeeming qualities, unless all you care about are predictable love stories of pre-teens and teens. Please just help it get the axe. I’d prefer if “The Tomorrow People,” didn’t get cancelled. But hey, if this was better, I would back it. But from the pilot, I’d put it with “cult” last year, a terrible writer's train wreck.
