Description

A girl’s gotta dream. Especially Leslie Knope (Amy Poehler). Leslie just wants one thing in life…to beautify her small town. Too bad she works in local politics, where everyone says no to everything, and that’s not about to change anytime soon. This season, the government is back up and running and the State Department auditing team (starring Rob Lowe and Adam Scott) permanently join the Parks and Recreation staff in order to ensure everyone is playing by the book. Will the new guys in town put the kibosh on Leslie’s plans for ka-ching? Not if she can help it. As usual, her priorities are in order and she’s out to prove what she does is really, really, really important. So much so, that Leslie begins planning her next big event. Will it be a success? Leslie sure thinks so.

If you people are wondering why this show is similar to The Office, it's because it is made by the same people.

This show grows on you like friends you're getting to know and then find out are really cool. I did not not like the office, I really just didn't care about the show. I don't know why this show gets/got compared so much to the office. I am definitely Not indifferent about Parks and Recreation. It's great!! Give it a chance if your looking for a new show. The really truly laugh out loud moments from this show are the ones that catch you off guard and you end up watching them 5 or 6 times mid episode just to get all your laughter out (disclaimer for me these moments happen every couple of episodes, not every episode but certainly the episodes are Happy and Entertaining enough without a moment like that every episode!!)

Hilarious

This show is going to replace the office. It's so funny, and while the office slowly loses steam, this show gets better every season my favorite episodes are the flu, eagleton, and lil' sebastian, but the flu is the best.

I am a HUGE the office fan and i saw a commercial for Parks and Rec. I saw the lady who plays Karen in the office so I'd thought Id give Parks and Rec a try! I loved it! I LOVE Ron Swanson and Tom Haverford!!!! I cant wait to see what next season brings! (Andy and April are so cute together!)
PS i love the episode where Ron goes to Mulligans Steakhouse and makes them give him ALL the bacon!

I had actually seen the pilot episode of "Parks and Recreation" at one point and didn't particularly care for it. I only started watching this show, again, after seeing two rerun episodes on an airplane flight; the two episodes they showed were "Soulmates" and "Lil Sebastian" and they pulled me right in. My favorite episode, however, is "The Fight". I don't usually laugh out loud for stretches of time when watching TV or movies but "The Fight" certainly had me laughing. I really look forward to enjoying future episodes of this show!

Greatest Workplace Comedy on Television

There are two types of comedies. Workplace and family. This show wins for best workplace (for those wondering, the family winner is Modern Family). This show is so smartly written and so brilliantly acted that you have to have no soul to not enjoy it, and this season has delivered and has consistently been spot-on. This season's worst episode was still incredible.
It is sad that the ratings for this show do not reflect its quality. I would recommend this show to anybody and I sincerely hope that one day it can rightfully become the #1 or at least #2 most watched show on television.

Season two of Parks and Rec was absolutely brilliant. The writing was crisp and funny. The characters were fleshed out. Season three takes the sitcom a step back. April's character has devolved with her hasty marriage to Andy. April was a fabulously smart and sarcastic character. Their relationship has become a bit of a distraction and April's character and wit has suffered as a result. Additionally, the relationship between Ben and Leslie has undermined Leslie's character and the will they/won't they Pam and Jim from the Office type tease is tired and unoriginal. Tom, Ron, and Chris(Rob Lowe) continue to be high points. Unfortunately, Donna and Jerry's material this season doesn't feel as fresh. And Ann...well, she feels like a perpetual wet blanket. I'm failing to see her relevance to the show other than the multiple comments regarding her looks...we get it, she's pretty, move on. There's still life left in the sitcom. Hopefully the writers serve up better next season because this cast, of stellar comedic actors, deserves better. It's been painful to watch this show, that I enthusiastically raved about last season, take such a dive.

When Parks and Rec first premiered I tried to watch it, but I thought it was terrible and not funny at all. So naturally I didn't watch the second season, and then there was that whole thing that NBC didn't put them on the schedule for Fall 2010 so I just sorta forgot about Parks. Then one day I got my Entertainment Weekly and on the cover was Parks and Rec. So I figured if Entertainment Weekly loved it then maybe I should give it another chance.
Boy am I glad I did. I've watched every episode of the second and third season and it is one of the funniest shows on television. Amy Poehler is great as Leslie Knope as is the rest of the cast, especially Nick Offerman as Ron Swanson. The great additions of Rob Lowe and Adam Scott just make this show even more perfect than it already was. I laugh out loud every single time, and the humor isn't cynical like most other comedy's. Parks and Rec is close behind Community for being one of my favorite shows of all time!

We should just rename it the Ron Swanson show and give it 8 stars. He rules and is my new hero. It's all about the bacon. I love this show and I salute Ron Swanson, a real American hero. Maybe he can run for president. At least we would finally have some humor!

gave up on this show just a few eps into the first season. don't even remember why-- just didn't get into it, and something about not liking amy poehler.
then, just a few episodes into this season, my job changed and i had thursday nights free again. man, am i glad that happened. season three has been great. all the characters have really grown into themselves, and i especially like the addition of adam scott (party down r.i.p.). but the true standouts for me are andy and april (my two new best tv friends), and, of course, ron . just such perfectly drawn characters, in really fun, believable situations together. and, something i never would have thought would happen-- i've really warmed up to amy poehler.
can't wait to catch up on all the old episodes, and hope it runs for another few seasons.
the best, most heartwarming comedy on tv.

I loved this show from the very beginning.

A lot of people have. I remember talking to a perfect stranger about it after the first season, and we were both actually worried it wouldn't be coming back. So I bought all the episodes individually - not the season, INDIVIDUAL EPISODES - just to make it clear how much I loved it.
This is just about the only thing - movie or television show - i'll watch over and over again. The other exception would be '30 Rock', but even that's not true all the time. Each of these episodes I'll watch, then turn right around and watch again so I can relive the experience.
Why? Mostly because this show is so HUMANE. The characters are all lovely, and have deep hearts. Separately they're borderline catastrophes (when we first meet the main character Leslie Knope she was headed nowhere fast), but together they pick up the pieces and make a difference.
Bravo to this series. My only worry is they won't be able to maintain this level of excellence forever. But I'll be damned if after every single episode I don't love every one of these characters more and more.

Love the show, not crazy about Rashida

What is it about Rashida Jones? I find her to be annoying; I did when she was on The Office, too. That said, LOVE all of the other characters, especially Lesley and Ron. This one's my new favorite.

I wasn't thrilled witht the first season but stuck it out, and thank goodness I did! Season 2 was amazing, and Season 3 is looking to be just as great. Very funny, superbly written, and surprisingly sweet. I love all the characters on the show, and each actor does a wonderful job. Just watching it makes me happy - you can't ask for more than that!

Let me just start off by saying Parks and Recreation is great. It's just a feel-good kind of show. If I'm not grinning when I'm watching it, it's because I'm laughing hysterically. Amy Poehler's a great lead, but its not all her - the rest of the cast really makes the show just fly. It's tiny things like Ron's lovably stern face that define what it is. The addition of Rob Lowe and Adam Scott - sweet. Even though I wasn't sure if I liked where Andy's relationships were going all throughout the second season, it all just seems like water under the bridge now - the writers have really streamlined everything in the show. Keep it coming!

What do I think?

I have been a HUGE fan of Parks and Recreation from the beginning and I have to say the season 3 premier delivers all the laughs and more that I have come to expect from this show. I can't recommend it enough, well worth the money to have this available to watch whenever you need a good laugh. Thanks to all who make this show possible.
