This documentary has brought monumental interest in the natural world. I think it has helped us to sympathize with the ecosystems which we live on. A tremendous homage to the world, and a great help for conservation efforts

I watched this in 5th grade and Did NOT like it. On the last Friday of the year, I had to read my big Nate book out in the hall (that was before I hated big Nate) and the show overall is stupid. The narrator speaks like an idiot. Not a very good documentary. It’s not a children’s doc. I can let my little cousins watch this. It’ll give them nightmares. And a lot of ugly images, made me throw up. This documentary has a lot of frightening scenes and ugly images. Inappropriate for all ages. Dear parents, don’t let your kids watch this. It’s not suitable for children.

The imagery is very nice but I finish an episode wondering what I learned. Seems to have a repetitive theme of look at the nice place... here are animals killing each other there... here is another nice place and more animals killing each other.

Its crazy how hard it is to find good documentaries on itunes but this is worth purchasing to watch over and over. Excelent value. Also, cant wait for Planet Earth II to come out, hope they dont make us wait too long and especially hope they continue to give us the origional version with David Attenborough, no watered down version made for the US market!

Must watch

Best documentary ever! It can get a little slow at times, but is still incredible. I didn't want to at first, but, even though it's expensive, the HD version is beautiful, and I would recommend getting it.
And for those of you asking, the narrator is David Attenborough, the original narrator. I would much rather have him than Sigourney Weaver.

Best documentary ever, but...

I spent a very long time searching for the version on blue-ray narratted by Sigourney Weaver, she has by far the better narratting voice for this series, and she was also the original narrattor for the series when it first premiered on TV (in america, dont know about elsewhere), i refuse to buy this without her narrating it, and am dissapointed that i cannot find it on iTunes. A good visual experience ruined by a narrator who sounds like a droning history teacher.

Really Apple? Really?
I purchased this in HD because I'd heard what a beautiful series it was and thought maybe I'd learn a few things in the process. Hooked my iPad up to my HDTV only to get this crap message: "This movie cannot be played because a display that is not authorized to play protected movies is connected". Tried it on 2 other TVs... same issue.
Apparently my $32 gets me a movie that is supported by HDCP "high-bandwidth digital content protection". Another anti-piracy measure that does nothing but screw over millions of legitimate consumers. Apple doesn't bother to mention this when they're onstage talking about how revolutionary their products are...or...you know...ANYWHERE ON THE PRODUCT PAGE!

I love this series and David Attenborough as the narrator. I have heard that Life is done by the same people but all I can find anywhere on blue ray is the Oprah version. I'm still holding out till I can get the original David Attenborough Life in HD. Come on iTunes why does it take you forever to add these series from when they've been aired. I want to watch life.

Excellent camera work with great coverage of the animals and how the Earth is naturally beautiful at any angle.
A lot of people seem to forget though, that most of this nature type TV series or movies started a long time ago with a guy who was named Walt Disney. This takes nothing away from this presentation.
Because they did a really great job and must be commended for it!

In an age of so much junk this is a refreshing change. It is truly family friendly viewing that can be enjoyed again and again. The video quality is superb and you feel as though you right there in the jungle, on the plains, or in the water. You almost want to duck when the birds fly overhead! There are a few scenes of animals attacking others (real nature in action), but they are not gruesome. The narration is not overdone and does not take away from the show. It is loaded with a lot of interesting facts so you'd have to see/hear it more than once to catch it all. The series is done from an evolutionary standpoint, however, so that is something to consider. Overall all it is superbly done and I'd like to give it more than five stars. I am now considering the iPod touch so we can have a larger screen to view this when we are stuck somewhere and want to see it! This is truly a work of art!

Worth getting!!!

David Attenbourough is always a fabulous narrator.
This is a fabulous series, but it feels rushed a bit.
It also smacks of maybe recycling a bit here and there from his other great series' Life of ... or Secret Life of...
all of which are also fabulous.
Can never go wrong with him.

A truly remarkable series. I never cared much for nature documentaries before Planet Earth. Each episode is beautifully crafted, focusing on a particular ecosystem, and reveals jaw dropping facts about animals that remind us how valuable the earth is. The camera work is spectacular as well. They even have shots from inside a pitcher plant as a spider dives down to grab an ant that has fallen in. Definitely worth every penny.

This is by far the best documentary i have ever seen, but, Sigourney Weaver narrating this documentary to me is the best version...no offense to David Attenborough, he's a good story teller but Sigourney Weaver narrating this story makes it more interesting to listen to. Her voice just makes this documentary more captivating. I would only buy the Sigourney Weaver version

Visually stunning. I used a borrowed blu-ray copy to showcase my new HDTV and surround sound system, and now I plan on purchaing the entire series for personal ownership; popular consensus among friends is that this series, in High Definition, looks better than real life. The series is informative, but not boring. David Attenborough lends his voice to the narration, and is relaxing without becoming a baratone lullaby. While yes, this series is a nature documentary, to group it among other such documentaries is insulting. If you are unwilling to pay for the entire series, worth every penny, at least look at Freshwater, Jungles, and Ocean Deep; you will not be dissappointed.

I loaded some episodes on to my new ipod to watch in bed before I go to sleep. The music, along with the incredible scenery is a great way to relax before drifting off. Looking at nature - I see it as God's creation. Every living thing, every animal, every plant, every being...
And just watching these videos..it truly gives me a sence of Peace - A sence of quietness...
Most shows nowdays...they don't do that. So much of television is loud, noisy, or much of the time even full of imaturity or immorality. But this is different!
I like this and I'm glad something it has become as popular as is.
Who knows...
If more of television contained shows like these, perhaps the world would be a little more peaceful.

I got this gifted to me for Christmas and I spent a day watching the entire thing! Every single episode is worth watching, and worth paying for. In each episode something unique happens; baby ducks jump from a tree to fly for the first time; new life-forms were discovered down in the ocean where the sun doesn't penetrate the darkness... Every scene is breathtaking and I highly recommend this!
