Description

Meet Tony Soprano: your average, middle-aged businessman. Tony's got a dutiful wife. A not-so-dutiful daughter. A son named Anthony Jr. A pill of a mother. A hot-headed uncle. A not-too-secret mistress. And a shrink to whom he tells all his secrets, except the one she already knows: Tony's a mob boss. In Season 1, feeling his handle on his family and his business slipping away, Tony (James Gandolfini) suffers a series of anxiety attacks that land him in the office of a psychiatrist (Lorraine Bracco). Opening up to his shrink, Tony relates the details of his life as a "waste-management consultant," and tries to come to terms with the professional and private strains that have brought him to the brink of a breakdown. Co-starring Edie Falco as his wife, Michael Imperioli as his nephew, and Dominic Chianese as his uncle.

James Gandolfini did an excellent job of acting on this season. Especially the episode 46 Long with Nancy Marchand and the ending scene in Down Neck. Michael Imperioli also did a good job of acting in the episodes The Legend of Tennessee Moltisanti and A Hit is A Hit.

As a huge fan, I'd suggest to only buy the memorable episodes as $2.99 per is a bit pricey. This way you can spend about the same amount for the better episodes for the cost of one whole season

The one that started it all. As far as I am concerned, after season 2, the series only got better and better. Each episode from season 3 on was an absolute masterpiece. Season 1 is great and I love how things start small and gradually escalate. The greatest television series of all time.

Just as good the second time around

I haven't seen that episode in over a decade and it is still as good as I remember. Livia Soprano is just as evil as I remembered. That may be the most sinister smile in the history of a mom trying to kill her child.

i really like it so far.

First and foremost this is The Sapranos, So Itunes obviously has to pay more for this then something like Weeds or Jericho, both of which I feel are/were first rate shows. Secondly it is an hour show, that being said, I wonder how they sleep at night charging me a buck ninety nine for Kill Face

HBO not no fool's they know that they gotta bring "The sopranos" to iTunes and they know "The Sopranos" is a money maker. HBO playing and adding it right....lol

High Prices

 –
Maybe, Maybe Not
 –
2008-05-15
The reason why the prices are higher is because it is a 1:00 HBO show, which means some weeks episodes are actually an hour long. It may seem unfair, but if a regular tv episode is 22 minutes and $2, it isn't so bad for the price to be $3 for a 50 minute episode. If this helped you at all, bump it up higher so other people understand.

We OK here... ?

who cares about the price:
1) they're twice as long as other shows
2) they're non-network shows so it costs iTunes more to use them
3) they have swearing and nudity
4) they're waaay better!
amazing show--one of my personal favorites

Since HBO already costs alot to have, I dont see why this is overpriced, there twice the length of most tv shows on itunes for 2$, and are over or close to over an hour, I think that in order for HBO to be on itunes at all, Apple had to allow these episodes to go up for 3$ anyways good show buy it

Great Show!

However, I will not be buying any episodes if I have to pay $2.99 an episode. No way! I hope that the price will come down because people will feel as I do and refuse to pay this much.

First I have been waiting for this day for way too long. I am so excited that this and other HBO shows are now on iTunes and I hope Entourage will follow in short order. As for the price. Considering that I have found the entire first season at Amazon for the same price, if not more expensive, I don't believe the price to be that outlandish and in fact I would say that it is right in line with most other retail outlets. The nice thing about iTunes is that you don't have to wait for shipping.
As for the show itself, I don't think I need to say much except, wonderful and worth the purchase.

This is a great show and yes it's $3 per episode but if you want to buy the season from amazon it costs $50 so you do save nearly $25. Vote yes if you have a brain and understand why it's $3 unlike Brian Krieg just being an idiot with his reviews.

About time itunes picked up this epic mafia tale. The first couple seasons of this show are top-knotch. James Gandolfini provides superior acting as one of the best mafia bosses in history, along with his crew (Steven Van Zandt & Mchael Imperioli). Several of these actors have a long history with gangster cinema and they show it with their best performances. This show also really delves into the mind and emotions of Tony Soprano and those around him, which really puts meaning to the violence that ensues. Amazing acting, plenty of violence and action, complex web of characters, phenomenal show.

Incredible

People tend to forget how good The Sopranos was when it first hit the scene - a forgivable mistake, given how disappointing the last few seasons were. Watching the first season again will remind you that, in its heyday, this show was arguably the greatest television ever created. The first two (possibly three) seasons are everything great TV should be: funny, dramatic, entertaining, enthralling, heart-wrenching, nervewracking - and pretty much every other "good" adjective.
If you haven't ever seen The Sopranos, or if you started watching after the show was already established, BUY THIS SEASON IMMEDIATELY. You will be blown away.

Sopranos is great but why has it taken so long

Gosh who doesn't love T and his crew? But why has it taken so long to see the Family on iTunes? Most of us have seen it and probably aren't ready to watch it again. If you haven't seen it you are in for a treat. Hope all the seasons get on here eventually.

It's easy to look back on "The Sopranos" and say it was a show everyone said was great, because that's true. Going back and re-watching the first season, though, is a strong reminder *why* everyone who watched it said it was among the greatest series ever produced. The writing, the acting, the directing, the editing...all top notch. The first season was less serialized than subsequent seasons, meaning these thirteen episodes stand apart from one another a bit more. "College" is among the funniest episodes of any TV series, and there are moments throughout the season that are outright frightening. After a decade, chances are you've already bought the DVD release. In case you haven't, though, iTunes's price is pretty fair. You're not getting the bonus features, but the truth is that "The Sopranos" DVD releases weren't particularly rewarding for bonus features anyway; certainly, the few featurettes you're not getting aren't really worth the price differential. Buy, download, watch...and appreciate.
