It's easy to look back on "The Sopranos" and say it was a show everyone said was great, because that's true. Going back and re-watching the first season, though, is a strong reminder *why* everyone who watched it said it was among the greatest series ever produced. The writing, the acting, the directing, the editing...all top notch. The first season was less serialized than subsequent seasons, meaning these thirteen episodes stand apart from one another a bit more. "College" is among the funniest episodes of any TV series, and there are moments throughout the season that are outright frightening. After a decade, chances are you've already bought the DVD release. In case you haven't, though, iTunes's price is pretty fair. You're not getting the bonus features, but the truth is that "The Sopranos" DVD releases weren't particularly rewarding for bonus features anyway; certainly, the few featurettes you're not getting aren't really worth the price differential. Buy, download, watch...and appreciate.
