Janet tells her own story in legendary fashion! We got to see her loves, her lost loves, her determination to move from out of the shadow of her famous brothers, and her trials and her tribulations. She made sure almost no stone was left unturned. It is definitely one of the most well thought and respectful documentaries I have seen about and explained by a living legend.

Lifetime chronicles Janet Jackson’s humble beginnings and even experiencing racism as one of the most massively giant musical families navigating America as black successful artists. The documentary tends to explore more of Janet’s personal recantations instead of regurgitated information that is available in interviews of Janet’s long 45-year career. We dive deep into footage we have never gotten from moments of familial gatherings and private romantic moments with people who Janet Jackson loved that has never been shared before. This provocative story tells us how a black woman became the staple of musical political activism, sexuality, and feminism.
