I absolutely adore Robotech, ever since it aired on the 80s. But beware this version, released under the Funimation brand. The sound is mixed horribly, making speech hard to discern and the whine of Veritech engines painfully ear-splitting, both on my home theater and regular TV stereo sound.

They also re-edited the intro, inexplicably cutting out iconic Southern Cross and Mospeada scenes and sound effects and reinserting boring, inferior Macross scenes from the original Japanese intro (they were replaced for a reason). This by itself is sacrilege.

The Robotech version that streamed on Netflix until recently didn’t have the above flaws; I’d buy that version in a heartbeat if I could, and regret buying this one as the intro is disappointing and the sound makes it nearly unwatchable.

Please release the HD version Funimation offers/will offer on its website. I will purchase the HD version, as I am certain all Robotech fans would, once the HD version becomes available on iTunes. Also, please consider what the other reviewer noted in terms of releasing the other Robotech items - the movie noted has been re-released in HD.

Thanks Harmony Gold for releasing this to the US for hungry fans. Here’s hoping they release the original Japanese version with subtitles, that would be a sight to see. And give us the 1984 summer movie, Do You Remember Love.
