A well crafted biography of a tempestuous man. He, like Picasso, is on the down cycle of #popularity. The artist in light of his art has been amplified by cancel culture and certainly this work and Hemingway have not escaped. I enjoyed the first episode and second and the third is tragic but still mesmerizing. I do wish that there was more context and comparison with the other great talents of that era, especially pre WW2. You have Freud, Jung, Joyce, Faulkner, Fitzgerald, Picasso, Matisse the list goes on and certainly the reaction to these masters is reflected in the next decades. All in all fascinating and well told story and history telling.

As a biography it holds your attention. For students of literature it offers excellent insight into the forces that shaped the man and his work. For history geeks, the time period comes alive. For those who can learn by the mistakes of others, it is a useful tool.

It's slow, ponderous, kind of amateurishly produced, and not very informative. And whoever thought it was a good idea to have that Spanish idiot disparage the earth moving for a woman during love?? He should be reminded that just because he has the equipment doesn't mean he knows how to use it.
