I had just started binge-watching this with my cousin 2 days ago.
And, can I tell you, ITS SO GOOD!!! And, it means a lot cause this is coming from a almost 12 year old girl. Apparently, people say this shows for 8 year olds. I can see cause for me, some of the scenes are cringy, but it’s very rare when that happens. Right now, I’m on Book 1 Chapter 14. The story’s pretty good so far, I mean, it’s kinda a LOT of suspense cause it’s like, is Aang gonna finish the war? So that’s that. From, what my cousin said, the show has pretty good character development, which I hope she’s right about! Another thing, I’m pretty sure this is not a cartoon. Cause the style isn’t like that of most other cartoons where the animation is pretty simple, like Phineas and Ferb. I’m guessing this would be called American Anime? Since most anime is made in Japan. That’s actually how I got into the show. Cause it looked like a anime lol. Cause I’m just a weeb who has no social life whatsoever.
Anyways, 12/10 AMAZING SHOW!!!!!

I love this series (reason for the 5 star rating) however, I WOULD NOT BUY IT FROM HERE OR ANY OTHER ONLINE STREAMING SERVICE! You can buy this whole series for right around this price or a few dollars CHEAPER from walmart or ebay (brand new not used). I mean come on Apple this is ridiculous! I mean $30 for ONE season?! You can get ALL THREE SEASONS for this price, get real! I don't know what makes them think that a series that is over 10 years old is worth $2.99 an episode and $30 a season. It isn't practical and it isn't worth it. Of course I'm going to research the best price, who wouldn't. Moral of the story, buy the complete collection for $30 then spend your extra $30 on more movies or series. Yes, extra $30 because they want to sell all three seasons on here for $60!

Love the show. Hate the price

I highly recommend this show for anyone of any age! This show is one of the best shows Nickelodeon has ever made, because now, even on Disney channel, (and I am a HUGE Disney fan) they have some not so good shows. But trust me, this show is AWESOME!!! I have to say I've held off on watching this series for a long time solely for the reason that I saw it as an American anime knock-off. Oh how wrong I was, and I regret it immensely. It was only the art style that was influenced by anime (made way more obvious by the third season).
The series itself is set in a wonderfully unique world where special people ("benders") have powers over the four elements: air, fire, earth and water. The namesake of the series, the Avatar, is a reincarnated soul that can control all four elements and exists to maintain the balance of power between the four nations of the world. An interesting setup, and right from the get-go the series grabs hold of you with its infinite creativity and sense of wonder. It starts with Katara and Sokka, a brother and sister of the Southern Water Tribe, finding a boy frozen in an iceberg who turns out to be the most recent Avatar, absent from the world for the past 100 yeas. Their adventures from there are nothing short of one of the best TV series I've seen, animated or otherwise.
Bottom line, I can't recommend this show enough. It transcends its "kid's show" label with good storytelling, boundless creativity and some truly memorable and hilarious characters. Anyone who's a fan of anime, American cartoons, or just good television in general owes it to themselves to watch this show.

My whole life I have always been into drawing and trying to think of cool ideas for an animated epic. My dream in life is to become a pencil drawn animator and have my own tv show for a big company like nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, Disney ect. But with all my ideas I think of they all seem to in someway bring up a avatar like vibe to it. Even my art style is similar to avatar. From the story, the way they created fighting without violence but still had originality and beauty to it. and the fact how they were able to include a bunch of different cultures in our world and bring it to there's, and just to be able to create an entire living universe that I can sit down to and become completely emerged into the character. This is far more then just a show this is the reason I have the inspiration to draw and stick with my dream. Amazing show 5 out of 5 stars thank you to all the people who created this show.

I'm a grown-up and I've had a few successes with anime in the past, but have recently followed a whole string of failures, it seems. I just finished watching all of Avatar:The Last Airbender, though, and it is by far my favorite anime series ever. Don't let the fact that it's American-produced anime tarnish your willingness to watch this amazing series, because this show accomplishes a lot where even Asian-produced shows fall flat.
1.) The characters are great right out of the box, but over the course of the series, there is a lot of character development for ALL of them. The writers really know what they're doing and are able to work an amazing amount of depth into each one's story arc. the Also, the relationships that grow between the characters evolve organically and rarely seem forced.
2.) The individual episodes are tight. The series as a whole had a pre-determined beginning, middle, and end and was planned very well, so there is little to no dead weight in the storytelling. Each episode serves to enhance the last and move the plot forward. It's refreshing to see a studio project like this not afraid to have a full concept planned going in and not bullied by execs to stretch out stories unnecessarily and weigh it down by a lot of superfluous plot twists and loose ends just to pick up ratings and beef up their toy line.
3.) The art is beautiful and I can't say enough about how great it looks. The scenery is spectacular and rich with detail. The artists weren't slavish to character design, either; just as the characters change throughout the series, the artists weren't afraid to change their designs periodically to suit the story's needs. The use of CGI is judicious and tasteful and, while noticeable next to the traditional animation, it isn't distracting.
Anyway, I could go on and on, but if you made it this far, why don't you just go and watch it? If you're not hooked after the 3rd episode, you're obviously in a coma.

Amazing!

I MISS AVATAR THE LAST AIRBENDER!!! Yea i know that there is a new one on called leggend of korra but now everytime i look at katara in this series, i cry so hard and thats no lie! I think about how aang is...dead and that makes me soo sad, i think it would have been cooler if they made a new season of avatar the last airbender insted of leggend of korra! What ever happend to sokka or toph?! U know wut? They all died off too! So now its just katara left! Im not trying to be mean but she should just die too so that she can be with aang and her famliy! And i think about the love story between k & a and i think its really sweet, and how much they loved eachother. They should of made a new season of avatar insted of korra, like they could of done the promise series and stuff...this is just..unbearable..i cant take it! :'{

Cre8r198's Review of A:TLA

The characters, the action, everything about this show spells the word "awesome," and even now, at age 14, I can watch episodes over and over again without being bored. It's a show that has great character development, which makes you care who wins this fight, etc.
The only element I truly despise of this show is episode 1. AARRGG!! Aang seems really cocky and annoying, but after episode 2, you see the light, and he...becomes less annoying, and actually begins to assume his full form of stylized kick-butt.
Overall: great show. 5 stars, definitely, and if you want a show that has action, character development, and everything in between, A:TLA is the show for you.

"Avatar" is an amazing show. The attention to detail is apparent in all the episodes, and while watching them you can see how the animators, writers, and actors have improved since the first episode. While the animation is more impressive in the end of the second to the third seasons, the first season of "Avatar" has a certain quality to it that makes it more carefree than the ones following. Aang, Sokka, and Katara are just getting into their adventure and they have a lot of fun while traveling around the world. I'm definitely buying all three seasons and I'm really happy iTunes decided to make each season $15 instead of the regular $30. You won't regret a thing!!!

Avatar is probably one of the best surprises I have had in a long time. When I decided to try out the show by downloading the first episode, "The Boy in the Iceburg", I did not expect much more than a slightly more mature Spongebob, Nickelodeon's huge money-grabber. Instead, while "The Boy in the Iceburg" had many immature moments (though they probably got a lot of laughs out of Avatar's target demographic: 6- to 11-year-old boys), the animation and score was flawless. Katara's prologue, though it gets shorter during each successive episode, is also a stunning grabber.
The real hook for me was episode six: "Imprisoned". While the target audience might have found a stunning show of daring rescue, older audience members could see something I never thought a children's show would feature: an internment camp for the conquered citizens of an Earth Kingdom village. This episode, to me, showed the writers' amazing talent to write a show that could truly affect all ages.
The plot then continues to wind its way through the first season with some episodes that were either extremely impressive or simply so-so, then hits one of the most visually stunning and intricately woven series finales I've ever seen, "The Siege of the North". Avatar also does not fail to keep growing and churn out even more amazing episodes in the second and third seasons. They have truly impressed me with their attention to detail, extremely complex characters and plotlines, wonderful worldbuilding, amazing backgrounds, fluid animation, and thorough research into various Asian and Indian martial arts, myths, and cultures.
I cannot recommend this show enough to any viewer.

Avatar is the AWESOMENESS!!

Let's face it. Unless you have Nicktoons Network, which shows it about twice a day, the only way to sate your hunger for Avatar is to buy the episodes, or pray that one episode might be on on Nickelodeon's Friday lineup. So yeah, most episodes are worth the money, but i wish it was on more.

The entire basis of the show is an amazing feat in itself. The graphics and colors very much so come alive. The shows specific age range is 8-13 but it's proved to destroy the age barrier. Teens up to 19 watch this, parents even. It's an amazing story line. The chracters were obviously carefully constructed with personallities everyone would enjoy. I find myself even reinacting the bending movements after an episode. The entire show is absolutely amazing. Word.

Sure, this show starts a little slow... maybe even a little too cute. The pacing is a little off, and the animation is inconsistent. But it is SO WORTH keeping with it! By the end of season one it's clear this is not going to be a silly animated show for kids. "The Fortuneteller" is one of the funniest things I've ever seen and the finale, "The Siege of the North", is downright Miyazakian in both its depth and splendor.
The second season picks up from there and never looses momentum. It is excellent from beginning to end. So if you find yourself tempted to give up half way through Season 1, take my word for it: you'll be missing out!

Remarkably Entertaining

"Family entertainment" in the best sense of the phrase: widely appealing. Adults can enjoy it for its complex characters; kids can enjoy it for its sense of fun. A tremendous amount of time and thought seems to have gone into making "Avatar;" its world seems remarkably fleshed-out. There's a different *look* to waterbending, or firebending, or earthbending. The characters are a joy to follow, from Aang's quiet frustration as a vegetarian to Uncle Iroh's clever subtlety. I also love the cartoon's sense of whimsy: platypus-bears, flying bison, lemurs with bat wings. The cartoon's action sequences are a delight; flowing and imaginative. The best show I've discovered since "Battlestar Galactica."

Possibly the best show nick has ever aired! it has everything! It has action adventure and it even touches apon some romance (moreso in the second season). All of the characters show emotion like actual people and have real human motives (even if real people cannot bend elements). The animation is top notch for a TV series. All and All it is a wonderful season. Buy the whole thing because it's a great show.

One day, my computer decided it wasn't going to work. I had nothing to do and so I decided to sit down and watch TV with my 5 year-old nephew. His favorite cartoon was ending and an a re-run of the first Avatar episode began. At the end of the episode, I wanted more.
This is a moving, exciting and terrific show. It's been a long time since anything this creative, original and profoundly interesting has been on television. Avatar truly catches the imagination of all. The storyline, culture, adventures and the characters especially are so complex. This series is all about emotion, struggle, love, honor and so many more real-life human values. It also addresses real-life issues and problems such as war, hate, genocide and more in a suitable for all (PG) manner.
Mind you, this series was intended for 7-11 year-old children. Remarkably, the Avatar series has captured so many hearts and minds of all ages. I'm 22 and I think it's the best thing on TV along with NBC's 'Heroes'. It's just so different and innovative.
I profoundly urge anyone who is interested in Avatar, to spend the $1.99 and purchase the first episode. You'll become enlightened, inspired and will want to complete the journey with Aang, Katara, Sokka and Appa.

Finally a show that caters to kids and adults alike on Nickelodeon! I've caught myself downloading more of these shows to watch not only with my nephews but by myself. The plot lines are well thought out making full use of the entire season to unfold characters and reveal twists and turns. More than once have the boys and I been playing "Avatar" in the pool pretending we're waterbenders. It suprisingly unites kids and cartoon loving adults alike! Please make more shows like this. It shows creativity rather than the mundane lives of people on "reality" shows.

This is such a very exciting show, even my 55-year-old father loves this show (sorry dad for revealing your age!) Avatar has such exciting characters from the evil Fire Lords to the Avatar himself. It represents the balance of fun, love, courage, destruction, and reconstruction. Avatar is by far one of the most wonderful shows on the air today! Kudos to the creators!

Can't wait for more!

I stumbled across this show and I was really impressed by the graphics. I watched it and couldn't help but to be entertained. There's so much action, adventure and character to this show. I am most impressed that you can learn so much from their lessons of friendship, struggle, morales, resposibility and humor. I recommend this show to all ages and can say that I can't wait for more. I have the dvd's but am grabbing a few episodes early and not hesitating to buy the duplicate episode on dvd!

Way To Go!!

All I can say is WOW! I love this show and I don't care if all those people who gave it one star think it's a peice of cheap crap. Cuz I think this show ROCKS! Way to go Nickelodeon for getting this unique show. The prices are a little high, but the prices for EVERYTHING are high so really that shouldn't bring this down. So in other words. This is a GREAT show and I hope everyone can enjoy it like me.

Great show!

This show is great! Comic relief mixed in with a dramatic plot keeps you watching and wanting more. Well-drawn characters and amazing backgrounds/scenery that is pleasing to look at; brilliantly thought-out story line that accentuates said characters. I always watch this show whenever I can; you can't miss it!I Thrilling show with great music, what more does a person need?

Let me start off by saying I am a longtime fan of Avatar. It's got comedy, seriousness, and cartoons. Sokka is a riot, yet he is serious about being a warrior. Katara is all girl power, and Aang provides much comic relief and the struggles of a young boy to bring a nation to peace. And of course, we can't forget the faithful Appa and Momo. This series is definitely worth watching over and over (and it's cheaper if you buy the season all at once by about $10!!!). When I go back to college in August, my roommate and I are planning an Avatar marathon. The thing is, she doesn't like TV, yet she's hooked on Avatar. Also, now we don't have to sit through those aweful commercials! I would say Avatar is definitely worth your time and money.

If you know martial arts- and sarcasm- this show is for you!

I've watched since the first episode- and can't STOP watching. I'm sure in other anime, you can see the martial arts as well- but seeing Ba Gua, Hung Gar, Tai Chi and Northern Shaolin style and Mantis together like this- it's sweet! And, if you have no clue what any of that is- then Sokka: "the meat and sarcasm guy" who just tripped on cactus juice with Momo; Zuko: who you know is turning into an evil good guy; Toph: whose Hung Gar power is amazing for a blind girl; Aang: who becomes fierce in the Avatar state; and Katara: who tries so hard to balance it all....should hook you. I'm honored to be studying under a great Master in New England- and thrilled that movements I do every day are used to bend the elements!
Avatar is FUN, funny, witty and exciting- having to wait for new episodes is actually annoying. Oh yeah- and my 5 year old loves it, too. If you're buying the episodes, ones with Zuko are the best. Especially where he saves the Avatar during season 1 (twice) and Aang turns around and saves him as well. Season 2 also has its moments. And, seeing Azula getting all 4 elements thrown at her- with Aang, Zuko, Katara, and Toph all side by side- was awesome.

awsome...

Let me start this off by saying that I am 25 years old and bought this series with trepidition. I read all the excellent and glowing reviews, but since I wasn't sure what the age range was and this being a show on Nickolodeon, I was worried I might be too old to enjoy it. Boy was I wrong!
I have always been a fan of anime, and whether this is classified as anime/american anime/or just plain cartoons I can tell you it's just plain GREAT. Not only is the animation beautiful, but each story is cleverly thought out and written masterfully. I am only about halfway through the season but I am hooked. Not only has Avatar a masterful control over comedic timing(something I would normally consider IMPOSSIBLE within the framework of animation, unless that was your goal e.g. Family Guy or The Simpsons) but Avataar has HEART.
The animation is beautiful, completely beautiful. I am not a visual person, it always comes down to the story for me, but this is a very visually pleasing show.
And when it comes to characters and plot you couldn't ask for a better cast and writing staff. First of all, I CARE about these characters. Not only are they fleshed out but they LEARN. While continuing to use their individual cliches to create situations, you are not beat over the head every episode with the SAME character flaws. It may seem that this is unimportant, but when you watch alot of anime it can become very repetitive to have you characters be so one dimensional. This, to me, is very laudable. The story is one I want to know about and find myself thinking about, and I can't wait for the next episode every time I finish one. A real winner and one I highly reccomend.

Why should one buy??

The story line is exceptionally fantastic! The art and animation are incredible and wonderful to watch, and the humor is great! My children quickly do thier homework just so we can watch an episode together (so, it's good for education-Hee hee). Alghough I didn't know what I was purchasing when I purchsed Season 1, I will not hesitate to purchase Season 2 when we are finished with Chapter 20. Any parent should love this for their kids, and every adult will enjoy its story of true adventure and friendship.
Thanks iTunes!

Surprisingly deep, often hilarious and a great joy to watch.

Don't knock this show off just because it's on Nickelodeon. It has everything a good anime should have: humor, adventure, and a deep storyline. This show is definately a far cry from Nick's other shows. The first half of the season is quite lighthearted, giving you a show of each character's roles in the show. But there comes a point in the series where the characters are more than willing to kill if it means victory. That point is in "Jet", when Jet is going to destroy an entire village just to kill a few Fire Nation soldiers. Then, there is the morbidly dark flashbacks of "The Storm", revealing how Aang found out he was the Avatar and why he got trapped in the ice. But the main showcase of the episode is Zuko's past, which is one of the deepest parts of the season. And then, there is the infamous scene where General Zhao dies in "The Siege of the North". That moment alone shows the point that Nickelodeon is capable of more mature themes, like death. In short, this show is a must for anyone seeking an anime to throw onto their iPod.

Avatar is the best!

This is my all time favorite TV show! In fact, it was one of the biggest reasons I got my iPod since I don't listen to music. I hope that itunes can take their success with Avatar: The Last Airbender and figure out that so many people like anime and then add anime. Avatar deserves a better rating than four and a half stars, I hope it will be five stars soon.

This is an awesome season!! Zuko is so awesome. His uncle is way funny. Also, the good guys are cool too! (rare) Aang the Avatar is such a cool kid, and Saka and Katara are also funny and cool. I think the final episodes of this season were really really good. Especially what Zuko said while Aang was in the spirit world, it really tells you a lot about him. He did have a hard life, and all because he's a good person, unlike his horrible sister Azula. I really don't like her. Notice the first time she's shown on the show, laughing when Zuko is being maimed. Grrr. Anyway, can't wait for more episodes of next season!

I was soooo excited the first time I saw the previews for this because I was a major anime fan when Avatar first came out. I have recently outgrown my obssession of anime, but I have not out grown Avatar. Despite boarding school, I still have followed the show plots on the internet so I can keep up conversations with my like-wise Avatar-loving friends. Now, with i-tunes, I can actually watch the episodes!
I love Avatar due to the awesome animation and the characters are more than the average 2-D characters you see in cartoons (both visually and story-wise). They have interests, personalities, pasts, strengths, weaknesses, and such depth to the makeup of their character that you come to care about all of them...even the villians! It's more than a kids show. It is worthy of all ages in the family unit and I can't help but admire the epic story lines filled with subplots, comedy, and relationships between every character.
Try it out. Buy the pilot. See if its something you'd get into.

I was really suprised to find such a creative and interesting cartoon was from Nickelodeon. I'm use to having to go to Cartoon Network to find cool new cartoons. This one is great though. The most amazing part to me is the amount of character development! We get to know so much about the characters, even the antagonists! Add that to the fact that its a perfect combination of action and humor and we have a winner. Now we just need to get Samurai Jack on iTunes.

True, this series is no "Bleach" or "FMA" or even "Pokemon" but nonetheless, it's still an AMAZING series. For the younger viewers it's all about the adventure that the twelve year old Avatar -- Aang, experiences with his friends Katara and Sokka from the Southern Watertribe. The show is beautifully drawn with amazing backgrounds and the characters are well drawn as well. The colors are flawless. Anyway, in a younger viewer's POV it's all about the adventures and the decisions Aang must make to help save the world and prevent it from falling into darkness thanks to the over powering Fire Nation. It is Aang's duty as the Avatar to save the world from perishing for he is the only one who can master all four elements (Water, earth, fire and Air).
But the show is much more than just simple bending and saving the world. For the older viewers such as myself, we see it in a whole different light. True, we see that this young boy has to save the world with the help of his friends, but it's much more than that. Throughout the whole season there are many hints of foreshadowing for future episodes and when analyzing the characters, you realize how deep they really are. The characters are more than just mere teenagers and adults. Especially the exiled Prince Zuko. Without saying too much, his character so far, is the most devastating (besides Aang whose 'race' have been killed off) because of his experiences during his early teenage years. But you'll learn more, especially in the episode "The Storm" Which is the most powerful/emotional.
I highly recommend this show whether it's considered real anime or not. Regardless, it's amazing with it's flawless backgrounds and artistry. It's a nice change from the rather immature "Spongebob Squarepants" and is a breath of fresh air for those who are looking for something new. Without really looking at the plot and the characters it's nothing more than an adventure show with times of laughter, but those who analyze it will not be disappointed. Everything can range from the exiled Prince Zuko, Aang's horrible past the world riding upon his shoulders, to Sokka and Katara's dad who still remains a mystery for he has gone off to war. There are also various hints at intimate relationships between the characters which makes the show even more interesting.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

A show for all ages.

This is a very good show that brings together a verity of aspects, ranging from humor to lessons in life. This show does contain some violence, but on the whole, it is essential for the story. I would recommend this program for anyone who likes adventure/ action, mystical and heart warming moments, or just for a good laugh. I hope that you download and enjoy this wonderful new program by Nickelodeon.

All the people that have ipods and pcs this is one of the best childrens shows you can get even if they dont have all the episodes its great. Others include(these are all clean shows) Thats So Raven, The Suite Life of Zack and Cody,High Shcool Musical, and Zoey 101. Other show that have lower ratings are The X's, Kim Possable, and The Proud Family(I hope not to upset those of you that enjoy the lower rating shows but I am just stating the facts). But still it would be nice to get new episodes for all the show. Thankyou for your time spent reading my review.

iTunes is starting to get very cool. Please keep this up! I love it.
Avatar is quite an extraordinary series of TV animation. Tai Chi is impressive, and this show explores it in a way that shows its power. The animators have definitely captured the essence of tai chi and the writers have created a wonderful story line with likable and well defined characters. If you like animation and you like sci-fi/martial arts/eastern philosophy, get this series. It's great!
Cheers!

One of the greatest cartoons ever!!! It gets addicting after to follow the story and see what happens.
The idea of four different types of martial arts that play roles in the four types of bending (air, fire, water, earth) is a great concept. It has a good story line and it's not cheesy, but it's also funny.
