I've been listening for a few months, and the guys help keep me motivated to focus on my fitness and nutrition. I'm a few weeks into MAPS PRIME and MAPS Anabolic, and I love the way my body is responding. I highly recommend this podcast for anyone who wants to improve their body and be entertained in the process. Keep it up boys.

Way too technical and random. Ben jumps from one topic to the next. He has a monotone voice that puts you to sleep. Did not find this podcast helpful.

I loved your podcast before but after your last episode about the Bible, I'm even more dedicated to listening to every episode. You took a huge risk and that is exactly what we're to do as believers in Christ. It's comforting to know there are like-minded health enthusiasts who have dedicated their lives to not only being well, but doing Good too!
As always, I appreciate your continued focus on solid nutrition and fitness, and science-backed info. Thanks!

First, fast forward through the first five minutes of marketing nonsense. Then listen to the cross promotional interviews with boring people telling you about how they did something that they did that surprised them because it contradicted some misguided assumption and preconceived notion they had. With all the experimentation that is discussed it's clear Ben is willing to try anything no matter how ridiculous or dangerous it is. Most of the articles Ben uses to support his recommendations either draw the opposite conclusion or demonstrate that he doesn't read past the abstract. The intro is pretty much a lie or Ben Greenfield doesn't know the meaning of efficacy. The technology described is at a bleeding edge level, meaning your more likely to see diminished performance or injury instead of "super human" nonsense . The most telling example is on one of Greenfield's other podcast where his hard charging elite athlete cohost admits to trying everything Ben Greenfield recommended and how much of a failure it was. Ben greenfield 's final recommendation on the show was more rest. How is the cheapest most conservative and likely effective recourse the last thing he recommends? Probably because he doesn't make money off of rest. Just like doctors don't profit personally from a healthy diet and regular exercise.
The constant demonizing of "conventional medicine " (you know the stuff that works) is really irritating and probably persuades many ignorant listeners to forgo effective treatment for the Woo Ben sells.

So helpful!

So for years, one of my most intelligent and in shape friends I have has recommended BGF podcasts. My friend is hyper intelligent and very critical and the fact that he loves BGF (amongst others but Ben is tops) spoke volumes to me. Of course I didn't take his advice right away. Not until my father (a Navy SEAL of 30 years) got into BGF podcasts and had the same enthusiasm. Again, I resisted! Until one day I decided to see what the fuss all about. I haven't stopped listening since. My father described it best to me by saying, "Ben reads a book and if he thinks it's worth discussing he gets the author(s) on the show. The difference with Ben is that no matter who is on it is a peer to peer conversation." I could go on but this should be enough. Don't wait!

The title may be misleading, but I'm confident this review will be chosen on an upcoming podcast. Thankfully, I listen that morning a new podcast comes out so I'll be paying close attention for this review to be read. Now, time to get to the actual review. Not only is the performance advice very easy to understand and follow, but the nutritional advice is just as helpful. I've learned so many tips and tricks to improve my performance and also nourish my body to perform at maximum levels. So if you are looking to better yourself and learn something new every podcast, listen to Ben greenfield. Welcome back Brock and I look forward upcoming podcast!!

When I get my fix of the Ben Greenfield podcast show, it makes me feel like God! I intend to after every dose, I urge to go around to my inferior acquaintances and dispense unwanted holy water of facts on them. After I get that all out of my system (it's proven unhealthy to keep knowledge to yourself), I then figure out if I can actually apply it to myself. I came up with a measure of whether I'm capable of applying my new found knowledge to my day to day life here;
1. How expensive is the contraption they just talked about.
2. How far out of my way currently do I have to go.
3. Do the first two outway the benefits.
4. Do I really care... maybe?
After all that is out of my system as well, I'm either better off with all of this unnecessary wealth of knowledge, or in the case I do apply it, I'm better off with all of this sort-of-but-not-really necessary wealth of knowledge. Either way the high fades, and I wait until my next fix.

A well deserved 5 stars

I originally subscribed to Ben's podcast a little over a year ago and I can't tell you how how much I enjoy listening. I eagerly look forward to each upcoming podcast and constantly and selfishly find myself wishing that Ben would post new episodes more frequently. After I started listening to the podcast I found myself captivated and I began downloading all of the previous podcasts and listening to and even re-listening to older episodes that I have already listened to. I have also been incorporating much of what Ben suggests and I feel healthier and my workouts are far more effective. Be warned though, the episodes are riddled with tons of information and it is almost impossible to absorb it all after one listen so prepare yourself wanting to re-listen again and again in what I call a "healthy addiction". Before I discovered this gem of a podcast I was passionate about exercise and nutrition but now...my oh my, what have you done Ben!? I was studying Nutrition in graduate school but now Ben has planted a seed and I have completely rerouted my education goals to now include exercise physiology along with nutrition. Thank you for opening my eyes to all of the wonderful and valuable information that you provide your listeners with, keep up the fantastic work!

Since listening to the Ben Greenfield podcast I have adapted and changed so many things in my life for the better! Ben Greenfield and his guests provide a plethora of in depth information from anything from proper sleep and lighting to the best supplements and tests out there. My favorite takeaways from it have been learning about mistakes I didn't even know I was making, and learning about all the bs health company marketers push on you (which is EXTREMELY important this day and age). I recommend this podcast to any health/fitness professional as well as any health enthusiast looking for the right information.

Growing up immersed in some of the best nature has to offer and being a health/fitness/longetivity/nature nut myself, Bens podcast has taught me immense amounts of related information that always resonates with me. As a kid Id submerse myself in the freezing winter ocean because I liked the way it made me feel afterward. It wasnt until listening to Ben one day, years ago, that I realized there was even such thing as "cold thermogenesis" and I learned why I was drawn to those cold waters. Ben and Rachel do an amazing job of presenting a broad range of topics that will open your mind and change your life. Even if youre not a health nut like me, you are sure to gain many beneficial, insightful tips, tricks, and information to help you thrive! I listen while hiking, or preparring for long open ocean paddles and I am always inspired in some way by the topics he covers. Not to mention, the guy is funny! This podcast will not make you fall asleep, but rather wake up from the zombie world we are living in. Thanks Ben and Rachel!

First, anyone who put Ben any lower than a 4 star has some real problems. Ben is the most well read, well educated and A+ Bio-hacker out there. The things he has helped me with are basically too many to even try and list. You can't keep up with him in the literature, so better just to listen and he is always entertaining and cutting-edge...no boring BS either. His guests are top shelf too. And hey, he has to make a living too, but he only promotes stuff he uses and loves and also cites alternatives. Ben is for sure at the top of his game and yours. He is not a waste of time, he is my top podcast to listen to, period.

Cardiology Consultation

Ben is a wealth of training knowledge, that's why I listen. Just listened to a podcast, an athlete reported a high heart rate on several occasions while training, Ben launched into an extensive rant on V-tach. Ben made a podcast diagnosis of V-tach! A rather long explanation of diagnosis and cardiology treatment followed. Clearly read from wickopedia or some text, and clearly little actual working knowledge of cardiology. If the athlete did suffer from V.T. Indeed a life threatening dysrythmia, he would have felt some ill effects, even a change in performance. Ben said at the end, the last thing to do is check your monitor as some may be inaccurate. That should be the second thing to check, the first is how the athlete feels. "Treat the patient (athlete) not the monitor." I also heard Ben make a podcast diagnosis of Reynauds disease for a podcast listener complaining of cold hands while running in the winter. Again followed by a long medical diagnosis and treatment lecture.
Ben blurs the line of actual knowledge with a slick "sales rep speak" into topics he is not an expert in. Wish he would stick his true expertise, makes me wonder about everything that comes out of his mouth.

Nothing compares. Point. Blank.

Ben is one of the most impressive specimen of premier athletes on the planet. As a personal trainer, Ironman, power lifter and fitness freak at the age of 35, to know there are people I can look up to is immense.
Ben takes topics from A to Z. All the research and experience that no one else seems to reach.
I've also 'fired' podcasts just on how someone delivers the content: odd breathing, UMMs everywhere and the cast never seems to flow. I've enjoyed Ben's podcast over and over again without a blink. His addition of Rachel was brilliant. Smart, interesting and beautiful, even her voice strings me in for more.
Please keep doing what you are doing as I am a better father, husband, trainer and coach because of your work.

I have listened to 10 episodes, as I wanted to give this guy a chance. The first time I listened, I honestly thought Ben was 14 years old. The level of immaturity and overblown conceited ego was ridiculous. He also constantly makes jokes that are a 0 on a scale of 1-10. I continued listening because there is a lot of great content he shares; however the sexism, racism, demoralizing of people who aren't high level athletes and immaturity level of this guy has been more than I can take. Hopefully he will grow up in the coming years. I am excited to attempt listening again in a few years in hope that he will mature.

This is by far the best health and fitness podcast out there. I've been listening to various podcasts and they all seem to be saying the same things. Ben brings something different and has definitely opened my eyes to so many more health and fitness topics. I think what the best thing is, is that he actually does his research on all of the topics. Unlike some other folks who seem to try and work through the subject matter, Ben actually knows what he's talking about and doesn't miss a beat. I'm happy to have found this podcast and Rachel is a welcome addition!

I have listened to the show for over a year now. My wife started listening about 6 months ago. The information we have taken from this podcast has changed our lives. We eat and live differently than we did a year ago. No, we don't do everything Ben recommends, but we do what we can and take the information and incorporate what works best for us. It's not all about Ben because he has also introduced us to some other great podcasters like Jordan at Art of Charm, Tai Lopez, Tawni and Lucho at Endurance Planet as well as others. I disagree with some of the recent reviews about dishonesty ...Ben is very open and forthcoming when he produces or is sponsored by a specific supplement and if you think otherwise you must not be paying attention. Yes, Ben does talk about a lot of tests and equipment that is not cheap, but he does offer alternatives of cheaper options when they exist ...but that is not what this show is about ...it is about pushing the boundries of our bodies and learning about our bodies at a finite scale with micro nutrients and etc... that cannot be accurately tracked and tested over the counter. Overall it is a very informative show and Ben does his best to research everything he brings to us and explains when articles are based on bad science and why. Last, but not least, I really enjoy the new co-host Rachael. Ben - thank you for not picking a Dr. or someone as technical as yourself. I think Rachael (and formerly Broch) do a great job asking questions and bringing some of the topics out of the clouds for us less technical folks. Keep up the good work.

I trust the guy…. and I think everyone else should too!

I’m so thankful this podcast exists!
I’ve been in the fitness industry for about 12 years now. Started personal training in college while getting an exercise science degree, opened up a fitness studio and am a strength and conditioning coach for endurance athletes. Despite all the years I’ve been coaching others, I see Ben Greenfield as a coach for me. Not only does he bring new and exciting ideas to the table for us listeners to learn about, he also filters through a lot of the crap that already exists. He clearly explains what has been proven vs unproven or what has worked in the past and what hasn’t. The guy does his research and consistently brings an educated wealth of knowledge to his listeners every show. It also doesn’t hurt that the show isn’t just for science triathlete geeks like me but also for anyone who is looking to increase their quality of life though a fitness medium.
I feel confident saying that I’m making qualitative improvements in my life since listening to the podcast and I’ve also shared tons of things with my clients at my fitness studio. Thanks Ben and team!!

Ben is my go-to source for up to date health, fitness, and nutrition advice. I’ve learned so much from this podcast, and I am constantly searching old podcasts and blog posts when I am curious about a particular health topic. I know that anything Ben recommends is truly the “Gold Standard,” and the research and information he presents is always next-level content. This podcast is anything but conventional, and I learn something new each week. Not only will you “geek-out” on all things health related, you will be truly entertained and astounded by listening to Ben’s stories of his extreme feats of physical performance and biohacking. I consider myself an “average human” (no superstar triathlete here), and even mere mortals like me can benefit from the huge wealth of advice on a seemingly unlimited variety of health topics.

Absolutely the BEST health and fitness podcast around.

I have listened to Ben's podcast for a long time, and I have to say that it has changed my total outlook on health and fitness. I totally appreciate the evidence based info, but I also really like the discussions about the things out there that might be considered woo woo science or controversial. I always feel like Ben is very honest and forthright when it comes to his opinion, and he always lets his listeners know when he might have a conflict of interest, like if he actually sells the product he is reviewing. I also like the fact that Ben walks the walk, that he is always in shape and that he competes in the very things that he talks about in his podcast. I guess it comes down to the fact that I believe Ben is the real deal, and that he is not just out to make a buck. Keep up the good work, and I love your new sidekick, I just wish I could remember her name!

I have been listening to Ben’s podcast for three years and have found it a great resource on a broad range of sports and other health information. Ben and Brock have a great dynamic and are a pleasure to listen to. With that said, some of Ben’s information borders on inappropriate or one-sided (anti-vaccine) and it can be difficult to determine when he is promoting a product because he has a financial interest. As such, I would recommend his podcast but would caution listeners to be attuned to some of the ...

At one time I would of given this podcast 5 stars. Ben and Brock have great chemistry and usually offer sensible training advice. As I’ve listened over the years, I’ve found less and less advice relevant to my situation and more suitable to a true bio-hacking nerd.
After a recent interview with anti-vaxxer Stephanie Seneff, I was tempted to lower my rating to one star. Giving a forum to a computer scientist with no more medical background than the average person is a negative reflection on Ben’s credibility. If there’s serious questions regarding vaccines, I’m much more likely to listen to reputable sources that have conducted their own peer-reviewed research than a contrarian making unsubstantiated claims

I have to say this is my first time listening to a podcast. A friend of mine told me about some of your bodyweight workouts on your website and I thought I would check it out. When I was looking on your website I found this podcast because I was interested in learning about fish oil and now all I want to do is cold water swim. Seriously I really enjoyed it. One of my goals for 2015 was to watch or listen to something that would make me smarter not stupid like watching a man in the Amazon trying to get a snake to eat him. I really looking forward to listening to more podcast from bengreenfield.

Thanks to learning about cold thermogenis from Ben, my teammates think I’m crazy. And I think they are crazy while they slog away on indoor rowing machines for hours while I get the job done with sprints, weights, foam rolling and a kale smoothie. With links to everything, and I mean everything, he talks about, the show notes are a major treasure. The depth and detail of Ben’s knowledge is mind blowing, but he makes it all accessible to everyone. My favorite part of the podcast is the review of studies that I could never read on my own.
Thanks Ben!

I admit it. I am a Greenfield groupie. After seeing him on The Thyroid Sessions, I had a consult about how to continue to ultra-race with my Hashimoto’s Disease. I have been a Certified Personal Trainer for 20 years but couldn’t look at myself objectively. After my session I became a Greenfield fan and listen to his podcasts and bought the book. I’ve paced myself to join the Inner Circle so my brains aren’t blown out by information but I think I’m ready.
This week I had the pleasure of meeting him and his family at the 431 Project. Let me tell you, they walk their talk. The whole family is freakin’ gorgeous, fit, nice and smart and their kids are beautiful, well-behaved and intelligent.
They need a reality show to profile what SHOULD be reality - Healthy Parents Raising Healthy Kids.

I'm an amateur endurance athlete and thrifty spending graduate student and still find plenty of Ben's content that is relatable to my life and completely accessible. From my cold showers to going to the park across the road to "play" in the woods and on the playgrounds, I've added plenty of his performance and wellness tips to my life at no cost! Great podcast that gets into the detailed research in nutrition and exercise science that befits my nerdy yet athletic graduate student persona! Thanks Ben and Brock for the fascinating content!

On Jan 15 of this year I weighed in at 260lbs. A friend of mine at work turned me on to this podcast and said it's really helped him. Between taking the supplements that Ben has suggested like curcumin and oil of oregano (also just ordered ThorneFX AM/PM complex), a very low carb diet, having morning kale, brazil and pine nut smoothies and a night time cocktail of passion flower valerian root, natural calm and apple cider vinegar, I'm down to 225 and just finished my first ever 30 mi run week!! It did take me 5 hours but I did it. Now, I still have a lot of work to do before Ironman WI in September but with Ben and Brock’s help I know I can do it and I look forward to every new podcast!!
Thanks again for the help Ben and Brock, keep up the good work!

Ben recommends supplements without disclosing when he receives a financial benefit from their sale. He recently did a premium podcast -- infomercial, really -- on a multivitamin sold by ThorneFX. A few days later ThorneFX issues a press release announcing that he's joined their advisory board. I don't know whether he is compensated for that, but at a minimum he should have disclosed that relationship. He didn't. That's at the very least unethical.

I have been listening to this podcast now for over a year. Love the information, camaraderie, humor, and respect for listeners. However, one weak link is that I do NOT understand the new relationship between you and Vinnie T's podcast. I started listening to it because you referred to it, so I thought the show would be as high quality as I consider your show to be. Wrong! It is vulgar, lacking in good data, and just plain mean. I know you guys need to make business connections…but I think this is a low one. I will be more careful with your recommendations from now on.

The Q&A and Newsflashes are great. The more of that content, the better. I usually skip the interview/topic shows, because they started feeling like 30-minute long informercials - usually in topics that I'm not particularly interested. But every other podcast (the ones that Brock co-hosts) with Q&A and Newsflashes is wonderful to listen to and I learn a lot.

Ben Greenfield is probably a really good person and my rating of 1 star is purely related to my experience listening to his podcast and I hope this is taken as constructive criticism. I have listened to about 10 podcasts and even in this short period of time I see a pattern; it seems like he is overly eager to be "superhuman" almost to a fault. Ben is human, he makes mistakes and I think people can learn more from his admitting he doesn't do all the stuff he says he does "every day". In just the 10 or so podcasts I listened to almost every one he is talking about some sort of test requiring specialized equipment, huge array of supplements, or some sort of new or bio-specific excercise; just about all of which that he claims he does "every day". Just isn't possible and honestly every time I hear him say "I do that" or "I do this Every Day" I tune out. I have listened to Ben on other podcasts and he is very agreable with the hosts and their philosophies (ie. vinnie tortorich, rich roll), but then you hear conflicting info on his own podcasts that seems to contradict what he said on their shows. He just doesn't seem to take a stand in any one area except over supplementation (better living through science as he calls it), he is trying to be everything to every listener and just isn't working for me. His nutritional advice is concerning to me, he has a supplement recommendation for every ailment. If you like technical jargon and a "book smart" approach to wellnes you might enjoy this podcast, but if you prefer a more realistic common sense apprach to training and wellness then I would't recoomend this podcast. Ben is quite accomplished and should be proud of where he is at in life. I have much respect for Ben as an athlete, but I have listened to his last podcast. Ben, you are human, admit you take hot showers once in a while and that you don't take all those "recommended" suplements on a daily basis and that once in a great while you do miss a morning meditation session... It's OK, people will probably like you better for it!!!!

Every week I learn a few health, nutrition, or exercise facts that educate me. Ben goes into detail on a variety of topics, but has enough varied questions to keep the interest of those new to exercise as well as ultra marathoners. He is great about detailing each item he recommends in teh show notes, and takes the tiem to explain why he endorses certain products.

Mr. Ben did get something right that he's not a doctor in which he repeats over and over again. Many claims he makes have no scientific reasoning or proof = pseudoscience. He has no idea on the basics of nutrition and the fundamentals of how certain elements work within the body.

Useful information, too many supplement and product recommendations

It's a generally useful and interesting podcast. It's a shame that it seems like at least 5 to 10 products are mentioned per episode. Even Bill Gates go broke if he bought every book, supplement, or service that the author recommends. I'm a little disappointed that his title topic is usually the last 20 minutes or so of an hour and fifteen minute podcast. I'm shocked that he plays listener voicemails on-air, complete with home phone numbers. Ever heard of privacy??

Having made it through the last 50 or so podcasts, I am officially over Ben Greenfield. His constant refrain of "I'm not a doctor, but here are some things that will help" essentially negates the disclaimer to begin with - and all of his claims about gluten, wheat, dairy, soy, legumes, and sugar are not based on legitimate, peer-reviewed studies, but rather (from the sound of it) from his buddies who rubbed together two brain cells and wrote a book. And the CONSTANT plugs for Bioletics and Mount Capra are really grating. And recommendations against seeing doctors in favor of these "miracle cures" from Bioletics just seems irresponsible. Where is the data that saliva tests are any more accurate than those from a doctor's office? Surely, if they were better, MD's would be using them as well, since blood is apparently so 20th century.
I'd love information on nutrition and supplements that people who don't have Ben's surely impressive income can stomach.
