I discovered Father Mike last year while searching for engaging Catholic homilies and have listened to every podcast since. He has a gift for explaining Scripture in an easy to understand manner, while also providing relatable stories and humor. His homilies are suitable for anyone, but might be especially beneficial to younger Catholics looking for a priest who is especially adept at reaching them. You should really start listening to Father Mike. You will not be disappointed.

I found this podcast in the spring and I was so bummed at the end of the school year when it ended!! Thanks for the summer ones you can get in! And for the explanation of the summer break and trying to record when you can, much appreciated!

Father Mike Schmitz repeatedly puts out incredible homilies that have such rich and engaging content!

I love listening to Father Mike Schmitz; he is a joy to listen to. Unfortunately, many Catholic homilies these days seem bland and do not uncover the spiritual realities of Scripture. Father Mike, however, makes the Bible come alive and offers practical wisdom to everyday living and challenges each person who listens. I think he is ideal for college aged people (whom he usually preaches to) but can be good for anyone to listen to. Give him a listen!

I mean, the title pretty much says it. But public evangelism is clearly a gift that Fr. Mike has. Very, very good homilies.

Father Mike's homily's are full of truth and understanding and inspiration.

These homilies do a great job of speaking to normal everyday people in a way that communicates the message well. They are encouraging and uplifting. I listened to one in the morning and I kept thinking about it throughout the day.

What a gift. We have been given many gifts from God. Some of them we share with others, some are shared by others. Father Mike's podcasts are a true gift from God. There's yet to be a time that I listen to this podcast and tell myself I'm worse off for listening. Each and every time I listen to this podcast I am a better man because of it.

Thanks for making this podcast. It has been such a blessing - I gave up Netflix and Hulu for Lent and filled my work travel time with podcasts instead and life is more productive this way. Fr. Mike is interesting and has great homilies! Keep it up! 😄

Fr Mike's homilies continue to amaze me with their depth and accessibility. I love this podcast! This was one of the tools I found 5-6 years ago which helped me so much as I was beginning to take my Catholic faith more seriously. Fr Mike is very personable; you can tell he really cares about the students at UMD and he has a great sense of humor. His homilies are full of great information. They are at just the right level for a Catholic young adult: not so basic you’ve heard the same thing over and over again, but not so scholarly they lose their connection to the everyday challenges of being Catholic and striving for holiness.

As a married man with 3 boys, I find Father Mike's homilies to be truly valuable and inisghtful. I would recommend any man looking to grow in their faith and calling to holiness to listen well...and then probably re-listen.

This is the best podcast for Catholics around. Fr. Mike is humorous and knowledgeable in his homilies.

I was a Catholic school teacher for three years. I would listen to him on the way to work, and use his homilies as my theme for the day. The kids were and are on fire for Jesus. Thanks for inspiring everyone.

Fr. Mike Schmitz is super cool, and he clearly cares so much about even his podcast listeners. He is so down-to-earth—I feel like I am conversing with him in my living room. The podcasts are very pastoral and spiritually rich. It is sound doctrinally, and is very applicable. (Also, check out his homilies on ordinary time because they make ordinary time a little less boring and a lot more formative.) I am an evangelical college student studying Bible/theology at Wheaton, and I have found this podcast especially helpful in gaining a fuller understanding of RC theology & how it is played out in the Christian life, and in realizing (although clearly there are still differences) how much unites Christians across the Catholic-Protestant divide. It has greatly increased my appreciation for my Catholic brothers and sisters, and has increased my passion for ecumenism. Thanks for all you do, Mike!

Great homilies on Scripture for any Christian. Fr Mike has been given a great gift in communicating, and uses it to teach us more about ourselves, and our faith, all for the glory of God.

Fr Mike's homilies are truly ways to learn more about Catholic faith and how it realistically applies to life. This guy...just wow. Humble and knowledgeable, funny and entertaining, yet you walk away enriched.

This is not the same breakdown of the readings as in other podcasts. Listening to Fr Mike and also Lanky Guys really helps me grasp what the Church is trying to teach and communicate to me on Sundays.

I listen to many Catholic podcasts, this is my favorite - hands down!

I started listening to Father Mike's sermon's as a supplement to my Pastor's homily each Sunday and I was so inspired by his down to earth style, humor and awsome story telling ability that I finally decided to start at the very first Podcast in 2007. I have now listened to over 100 of his homilies and find that each one is fresh, relevant and filled with Catholic Truth. Somehow he does all of this without pulling any punches and is not afraid to address many of the subjects that other priests avoid. His homilies are filled with the Good News of Jesus and the love and forgiveness that Jesus wants to share with all of us -- not just Catholics. I am 60 years young and have learned more from Father Mike in the last 2 years of listening to his podcasts than in all my previous years of sitting faithfully, many times sinfully, in the pew. I am so happy that I found this resource where I continue to discover the true beauty of our Catholic faith. May God Bless Father Mike abundantly!!!

I started binge-listening during Lent and haven't looked back. So much great insight, inspriation, consolation, and challenge to be better. My only complaint is I wish they were longer, although I'm guessing the congregation at the Mass might disagree :)

After 5 minutes of my first mass at UMD I knew Fr. Mike was born to inspire people in the faith. He is an amazing speaker who constantly conveys his conviction to transmit God's message. I've learned more about God and the faith from him than from 12 years in catholic school.

I follow him on twitter and was looking through Catholic podcasts and recognized his picture so downloaded a few podcasts on a whim. They are absolutely incredible! I've yet to find one I dislike. He's both hilarious, serious, and you can hear the joy and passion coming from his soul every homily. Thank you, Father, for using technology to reach out to people around the world! I am a recent convert to Catholicism and Fr Mike has been a blessing. I converted in 2012 and just found these podcasts two weeks ago. He has given me a passion for God I did not have before as well as an understanding of scripture that has eluded me. This priest really knows how to preach. He brings the word of God to life through the frequent situations in the world. He gives me this vivid sense of how good & beautiful Catholicism is and what it's trying to do for others. He teaches me to have that deeper union with God & Mary. I'm learning & trusting more in God's Mercy.

He goes over the church's teachings and gives me answers to today's problems and then lets you know that today's problems are the same problems people had 2000 years ago when Jesus walked the Earth.

I was introduced to Father Mike through my sister a few years ago, and I have yet to meet a priest like him! I listened to one of Fr. Schmitz's homlies online while looking for more good Catholic podcasts, and immediately downloaded all of his homilies. Fr. Schmitz is an excellent speaker and each homily encourages me and challenges me to grow closer to God.

Admittedly, since Fr. Mike is a local priest, I'm a bit biased, but I wouldn't want that to stand in the way of encouraging everyone to take advantage of the gifts that God has given Fr. Mike. If you're looking for a dynamic speaker who will make your Catholic faith come alive, give you practical advise and on occasion make you laugh at his corny jokes, then this is the podcast for you. I highly recommend giving it a try.
