Description

Two young Silicon Valley entrepreneurs set out to rid the world of smoking with an incredible new product. The device stands to disrupt the tobacco industry and make them rich, until it falls into the wrong hands and lives are ruined. From classrooms to hospitals, boardrooms to the Oval Office, what can be done to protect teenagers and is it too late? From Laura Beil, the reporter behind Dr Death and Bad Batch, comes The Vaping Fix, the inside story of the rise of Juul and the making of a crisis.

Another great podcast with Laura Bell. My favorite podcasts are the ones with multiple participants - not just one host or narrator telling the story. This one is excellent so far.

ARG! Make this bingeable, please!

First episode starts off trying to link Juul with EVALI. It’s obvious that no research was done or they ignored it. You won’t learn anything but lies here.

Fascinating

Don’t miss this one. Only two episodes and I’m hooked.

Juul should sue.

Someone should take a look back at all of Laura Bell’s other stories if this is the spin she is putting on Juul. She’s a quack, probably being paid by Marlboro.

Giving Too Much Innovation Credit

You get the impression that Juul invented vaping not mentioning the previous inventors. Many products and vapers were already using vaping for harm reduction vs cigarettes.
Juul only created a product the consumer couldn’t decrease the amount of high nicotine they were sold. Juul created the ability to easily market and sell to minors. This gravely hurt current and future adults trying to quit smoking.
Many adults use vaping to quit. It’s so much safer than smoking. Not totally harmless but much safer. Many middle age smokers use flavors to quit smoking because they wanted to get away from tobacco flavor to reduce the cigarette desire. The UK encourages vaping for harm reduction. Please look at UK science studies on vaping.
I wouldn’t say Juul were great innovators. They led to the US government demanding more people die from lung cancer by outlawing vaping. The anti-vape groups rightly concerned about youth throw adults under the bus.

I am 46 yo and juul made it possible for me to quit smoking after many years. It’s a shame that this country can not see what this product did for adults! Children had as much access to other vaping products and still do if they are allowed by retailers. I can speak from personal experience juul worked for me and many other friends and family... none who are children!

One more person spreading lies for big tobacco and the government. Bias views, no actual investigation with only one narrow view. Never mind the all the people who have benefited from reducing nicotine intake and able to breathe freely again. And don’t forget the decreased risk of developing lung cancer. But none of this makes a difference to individuals who have never smoked.

I’ve yet to hear a podcast by Laura Beil and be disappointed. I think it’s easy to forget about/not realize the amount of work that goes into podcasts of this caliber. Thank you for delivering us this masterpiece, Laura (and all others who contributed).

Misinformation.

Information fed to you by people who make money of tobacco sales & treating tobacco illness. Illness came from illegal THC pods that have nothing to do with the company involved in this podcast. Stop attacking products made for adults. You should do some episodes on fruity flavored alcohol and the amount of underage kids involved in alcohol related death, home abuse and addition.

Very excited about this one

I’m definitely going to listen because I love Laura Biel’s stories, but I’m sad that my enjoyment of this story has to be at the expense of so many people.

Laura Beil is a master at striking that perfect balance of outrage and dread. Dr. Death, Bad Batch and now The Vaping Fix. Can’t wait to hear the entire story.
