Good podcast, but they should have featured less of the children, especially Mallory. She comes off as obnoxious, rude, and beyond privileged. She certainly didn’t endear herself and made me feel like her father was guilty. I would have featured her less.

Best investigative true crime podcast around.

Writing and narration are great. Info presented in a clear, organized fashion. Each ep compels me to keep hitting ‘play.’ Keep up the great work, Billy and Alexis.

First, I will say that the heart of the stories of the first two seasons are great. The LISK cases are maddening and they do have some insight that I’ve never seen/heard/read before and I think I trust their sources. The second season, however is where they lost me. At its core, the story of one person cyber harassing upwards of 50 people and the nascent ability of the various local police forces to do anything about it is really interesting. Unfortunately I just kind of found a lot of the subject characters really an interesting. Perhaps it was a way to make up to the women who were initially ignored? But there’s way too much navel gazing and way too many specifics involving photographs and subject matter of photographs and repeated emails and just ridiculous violent poems. They do a trigger warning and I’m certainly not triggered but I just found myself wondering is all of this really necessary? I didn’t make it past the fourth episode. It didn’t make me care about the victims at all. It made me wonder why they didn’t lock down the privacy settings on their Facebook pages.

This is one of those podcasts where I don’t even bother to listen to the trailer for a new season because I implicitly trust that it’s going to be great. Alexis and Billy have great chemistry as a journalistic team, and they have really nailed the art of presenting a podcast season in a way that is detailed enough to feel like you’re getting the full picture without being SO detailed that they lose the plot (which is something I feel often happens with true crime series-style podcasts). They also do a really great job of presenting cases in a thoughtful way with respect and dignity for the victims and their loved ones. I hope we can look forward to many more seasons!!

As a resident of Lancaster County I can tell you this case resonated with everyone from the beginning. It scared us, intrigued us, and confused us. Why? Who? So many unanswered questions for too many years. And then the answer. Jaws dropped. No one, not one person could believe that this man, who everyone knew and likely had some kind of interaction with was the one who did this? He was literally sought after for jobs and gigs. If you could have him at your event you were lucky. It was scary to think he lived and thrived within our community and he was capable of something so heinous. Can’t wait to listen to the next episode. As always, our thoughts and prayers go to Christy and her loved ones.

I’m currently listening to Season 3 of “Unraveled,” and each case is riveting. As a dedicated fan of the “Morbid” podcast, I knew I would enjoy this.
But…. it could flow a lot better. A lot of content, especially sound bytes, are strung out over and over from one episode to the next. And interspersed commercials for a partner podcast leaves me very confused as to what case I’m listening to. Ads are unavoidable, but it really helps if they are on completely different topics from the content. Of course, bingeing doesn’t help me. 🤣 I think related podcasts are best promoted at the end of an episode. “In The Dark” is a podcast that does this really well, along with Ashe and Alaina of “Morbid.”
What I love about “Unraveled” is how Billy and Alexis explain the cases, and also show great compassion towards people involved in each case. They are never asking rude questions of victims or suspects/criminals. They do try to give each side a chance to have their say, as with the serial cyberstalker.

YIKES!

Bob is absolutely NOT innocent of killing his wife and the amount of victim blaming, especially from her own daughters is astounding. He admitted multiple times to shooting her how does that equal suicide? This whole season was absolutely horrible!

This is your new favorite binge worthy true crime podcast. I really appreciate the way the hosts approach the subject matter and engage in unbiased investigation. It’s well paced and captures the nuances in this case.
I’m almost at the end and the strangest thing to me is why this person wouldn’t just tell the story of what happened. There’s really nothing left to lose in the second trial so it seems like the wrong decision to not testify. That’s some thing that is not up to the lawyer, that’s up to the client and it sounds like the lawyers made that decision, which was a bad strategy decision.

So so so good! Team A & B for the win!

I really enjoy both Billy and Alexis and the first 3 seasons of this podcast were great. I got really excited to listen to season 4 and by the end of the 1st episode I was totally thrown off. The story of yet another privileged white man in jail for a crime he obviously committed and now we’re supposed to be blaming the victim for her own murder? The amount of victim blaming here, esp the victims own daughters, is crazy to me. So the woman liked to drink, she was taking antidepressants like most Americans…so it’s her fault that her husband shot her in the face? I honestly feel so sorry for this lady simply by the way her daughters talk about her. I hope season 5 is back to normal. This season is too biased.

S4 Speculation & Spectacle

Season 4 called into question Billy & Alexis’ journalistic abilities and ethics. A “goodbye” note (not explicitly suicide note) written months before she was shot is proof she was suicidal therefore him shooting her isn’t murder 🤔 while speculation occurs in many crime podcasts this is one of those moments that show how much they want white rich Bob Ward to be innocent when he says to 911 “I shot my wife”. Completely understand exploring the motive/circumstances & of course his kids who have lost their mom don’t want to lose their dad too. However, this entire season is grasping at straws and painting Diane the murder victim in a bad light. Hopefully there isn’t a season 5

Season 4 is stretched to the limit. The first episode is good. You’ll find yourself interested and saying “wow, I want to hear that 911 call more in depth.” You will regret having that wish, because as soon as they play it the first time, it’s almost like a ritualistic chant over and over again, “I just shot my wife.” They repeat information from previous episodes so much, to the point that 50% of each episode is just repeat filler. It was unbearable. They could easily cut half the episodes because they just don’t cover that much new information in each new episode.

Yikes

Season 4 BIASED.
Praying my family, especially my children, never speak about me like this when I’m not here to speak for myself. Victim shaming to justify the murder of their mom and to live with what their father did to their family. So very sad.

The delivery of the story was well done, but I could not handle listening to the daughters and sister of Diane act so entitled. He had to stay in a disgusting hotel when he was released on bond, I would never see my horses again, the judge had no right to do what she did, how dare you! To hear them say those things was insane and infuriating.

Agree with all reviews that claim the reporting in S4 is unbelievably biased. They talk about victim’s “prescription drug” abuse and then mention… SSRI’s. Her sister wants to bring her to the Betty Ford center for abusing Prozac. Ok.
I actually don’t doubt that her behavior was driven by rage and absolutely unbearable but I also don’t doubt that her husband shot her. There are so many awesome podcasts about people who were wrongfully convicted and have been exhausting their efforts to get an appeal… this guy had his conviction overturned and was convicted again. You can’t blame a poor economy or Casey Anthony for the second conviction. He did it.
“Dead in the water” explores a similar case, and the reporter examines the grown daughters’ conviction of their father’s innocence thoughtfully and objectively. You can skip this and listen to that instead.
