This podcast is a must listen. Great story telling
"Unraveled: Long Island Serial Killer" is a search for answers in one of the biggest murder mysteries in American history. It’s been ten years since eleven bodies were found on the coast of Long Island. Amongst a backdrop of police corruption and cover ups at the highest levels of Suffolk County, co-hosts Alexis Linkletter and Billy Jensen reinvestigate the murders from a decade ago to expose the untold story of why the case remains unsolved.
The hosts didn’t even bother interviewing law enforcement or investigating the dubious claims made by the junkie they interview. A total waste of time to listen to this. The subject of this podcast, a lifelong criminal, is making claims with zero evidence that are not believable whatsoever. And the hosts do nothing to push back or investigate.
Really like the speed of this storytelling. Not confusing and keeps the listener engaged. Voices are pleasant, a huge plus. Thanks for a great podcast.
Of the reviewers may want to read a little or simply at least finish the first episode before saying they believe the former chief of police over recovering addicts when the case has been through the system showing that the former chief of police was found guilty. Very well done. Maybe he was involved with LISK, maybe he wasn’t. End of the day: Burke and Spota appear to have perhaps horribly damaged the investigation. Hopefully not irreparably so.
This podcast is so EXCITING! They take turns speaking so it’s easy to understand what is going on. The music in the background is great! Can’t wait for next week!
I’m genuinely interested in this story but this isn’t a podcast- it’s an audio version of the worst kind of made-for-television crime drama. I cannot stand watching Discovery channel shows that repeat plot points every 10 min without moving the story forward. TV viewers might need a refresh but podcast listeners are listening. We didn’t miss the detail you covered 15 minutes ago because we were listening. For me it’s a reminder to avoid any further podcasts produced by a television network. There are plenty of audio storytellers out there who respect their audience enough to not treat us like viewers in a dentist office waiting room.
The only terrible thing about this podcast is that I have to wait for each episode. It is so good!
I was skeptical at first. But this isn’t looking good for Suffolk County. Suffolk County PD or the DA.
The unsolved case of LISK comes into focus thanks to Billy Jensen and his partner, Alexis, and her high school contact who knows something damning. It’s a remarkable coincidence both journalists use to unravel the tangled evidence of killer cop and cover up. Kudos to Alexis for cultivating the reluctant source as she did. However, I agree with another reviewer that Alexis’ vocal fry and valley speak undercut her presentation. She comes across as apathetic as she drawls her parts. Too bad, as she has important information to share, but her voice really needs work. To me, it hurts her and the podcast. I wish it weren’t so. This is a major break in a notoriously unsolved true crime.
I’d say this is a must listen. No spoilers so I won’t say why it’s so amazing other than the first time information coupled with the thoughtful storytelling makes this a fantastic and gripping podcast to listen to! Great work Alexis and Billy! Cant wait for episode 4!
It’s a good detailed podcast but the format is very much like dateline NBC type. They keep repeating the same clip again and again, not very podcast like, more like tv style which is really annoying.
Like others have said this has been such an enthralling podcast that has pulled me immediatley in. I just wish episodes would come out faster so a girl could binge but for now I’ll re-listen to episodes until we get new ones! Keep up the good work the only slight qualm I have so far is that sometimes the way the hosts speak about Chris seems judgey but that’s it!
OK, so the addict guy is almost too hard to listen to. He sounds like he’s slurring his words terribly like he’s still on drugs. I am enjoying the story but it sounds so out of the bounds of reality. I’m reserving judgment on this crazy story.
I am so happy and relieved that the story of LISK is finally being told. Amazing work, great podcast
Can’t wait to hear the whole story!
Such a good story, but equally great story telling. You two are fantastic. What are the odds of this evolving? Keep it up!
The hosts of this show are two of my favorite podcasters! They do another great podcast called The First Degree, the only thing or should I saw people missing is Jac Vanek and Jared Monaco!
Captured me on the first episode! This is so good.
So many dupes, so little time
So far this is the deepest dive I’ve seen on the law enforcement side of this case. And I’ve been waiting for this! In many documentaries and podcasts we get inklings about the issues and questions of a cover up but the details are scant. Understandably so. I think it was pretty ballsy of these two to go in the way they did given the potential danger (dare I say). Can’t wait for the next episode.
This is a great podcast!
This is a serious indictment of the podcast world. They get a dope addict fresh off a halfway house stint and yup good enough for me! Snuff films, corruption, murder, his mom's threatened, all very very believable.
I can’t wait to listen to the next one. Great content and narrating.
I have been following the case for years and there are so many twists and turns. And to the last person that left their comments needs to listen to it all over again. Obviously he wasn’t an upstanding guy and nobody said he was. And he himself did not claim to be. But the treatment that he received as well as his mother was illegal. And that was proven in court. That’s why Burke was put away. DA
Once again a wonderfully done podcast from Billy Jensen. Him and Alexis are fantastic and very well informed and researched. This is definitely a must listen for all true crime fans! And the revelations are stunning, at least to me! Definitely subscribe to this one if you like true crime or just want to know more about the Long Island serial killer.
Excellent .. keeps you engaged .
Each week I anticipate the next episode
Loving this podcast. I’m a faithful listener to The First Degree which is how I came upon this new podcast. Each week I get done listening to this podcast and honestly can’t wait for the next one. This is definitely a binge worthy podcast if you get behind. Love it!
I found this podcast through Anatomy of Murder and was instantly intrigued. I love how they set up the story and are slowing peeling back all the layers of detail and information. Ensuring we have every speck of story and can digest it.
I’ll definitely be listening to this podcast weekly and will seek out their other podcasts as well.
So good completely addicted
I love Billy and Alexis already and this podcast has been amazing so far! I love the format (very similar to Up and Vanished) and they do a great job telling this story. Can’t wait for more episodes!
Everything about this podcast is great with the exception of Alexis Linkletter’s speaking style. She’s done enough podcasting and television and gotten enough feedback on this that she should be far more aware of her upspeak and vocal fry. It’s unprofessional and she loses some credibility with it. Nobody *has* to speak like that and if your voice is your living, you should make more of an effort to sound more professional.
Similarly with The First Degree, I stopped listening to that podcast altogether once she started taking on more of a speaking role. She sounds too much like a sorority girl recounting these tragic events over cosmos at the bar with her girlfriends. I find it disrespectful to the victims and their families and frankly, she’s not doing any other women in the true crime podcasting network any favors with it.
Being from LI I’ve always been interested in this case and baffled that there’s been no arrests to this day. Now I know why. Wow!! Can’t wait to hear the rest!!!
I have looked and looked online, and it seems like after he left prison he just went off the grid. What a terrifying thought. Please update on where he is. I don’t want to run into this guy at the grocery store and realize he lives in my neighborhood. Keep up the excellent work on this podcast.
Alexis is really hot. Great combination
It’s one of the best and interesting podcast I’ve ever listened to! I would actually pay money in order to listen. Well done👌
Best podcast ever
I find absolutely nothing credible listening to this first episode.
I mean truly best in a while... like since Serial while! I LOVE The First Degree every week but I really like the dedication to one story here. Also Alexis’ first degree to it is WILD as well.
Cannot believe the truly awful corruption that is being unraveled in this case! Only up to episode 4 and cannot wait for more.
Finally this story told with straight forward believable style. Too many gone. Every episode worth your time. Real.
I’m riveted!! I just wish the episodes came out faster! Love it!!
I was anxiously for this podcast! Billy and Alexis weave stories that bring you in and give you a sense of how the moments play out, this is a wild ride.
Love all they do and their other podcast The First Degree with Jac Vanek and Billy’s work on the Murder Squad with Paul Holes ..... these are must listen pods for true crime junkies.
Can’t wait every week fir this pod about the boogie man that many New Yorker’s know something about but not the full story. Can’t wait for the accompanying Discovery + show!
This podcast has me hooked and continues to get more interesting. I can honestly say that when I stop listening to this podcast, I'm thinking about it. Very well done on the storytelling. I would highly recommend this podcast as it keeps getting more twisted and corrupt. This story is unraveling the truth behind a police department that has secrets.
This is such a great podcast. I was sucked in from episode 1. I can’t wait to hear what happens next!
I love Alexis and Billy. I know they are victim advocates and like to tell their stories but the victims seem to be missing in this podcast. I didn’t know anything about LISK or who the victims are. I had to go to another podcast to find out because so far they haven’t mentioned them. I wish they were more of a focus first. I hope they get introduced at some point. Definitely need to do some research before listening to this podcast because they don’t give a good background of the LISK case.
I wait for Wednesday anxiously for the new episode of this podcast! So interesting and intelligent.
This is by far the most interesting and riveting true crime podcast I’ve come across. Each week I wait impatiently for the new episode to launch. Billy and Alexis have done a fantastic job with their research and story telling. I can’t wait to see what this power duo will come up with next!
Two episodes in and I am locked in and anxiously awaiting the next episode to drop! The narration and unfolding of events is told in a way that keeps building. This is only one of two podcasts I’ve ever listened to where the host or narrator has a personal connection to the case itself or someone involved in the case. Alexis’ relationship to Chris makes it more personal but it is still being told from an objective perspective. Still waiting to see how much will be revealed or uncovered but the bombs that have dropped makes it seems like a movie, not real life. Can’t turn away now, I need to see how this story will unravel!
I just lost all respect for Discovery+, this is just a made up story. Anyone can do this, find a druggie or someone in a bad spot and then make a story out of a conspiracy, you can talk to any homeless person on the street and find a similar story
