Steve’s profanities are gratuitous and off putting. Michael’s name and place dropping is, too, but he’s informative. First 30 were gold, now boring, ad filled blather.

Michael has a great knowledge of film history and is really interesting. Steve is a middle schooler getting to hang with the cool guys. So many times I want to tell him to shut up. Love the guests. Good podcast for more information about a fantastic series.

Phil’s line at Vito’s funeral ‘I loved him like a brother-in-law’ might have been the funniest line in the whole series. I remember the room bursting out laughing when the show first aired over it. The audience knows how Phil was after Vito and how he made sure he suffered at the end, even being present for the torture. The twist on ‘loved him like a brother’ was comedy gold.

This is the perfect supplement for anybody rewatching Sopranos in preparation for the film, as well as for any newcomers. Steve and Michael’s different insights and personalities make for a very dynamic and entertaining podcast. Their love for the show and their own personal experience really shines through. It’s a great balance of banter, anecdotes and examination of the each episode. Thanks, guys, for keeping the Sopranos alive!

The problem is a simple one. Michael is a real actor who takes the craft seriously and is also a great screenwriter as well s awesome storyteller. He has a ton to say. As everyone knows he played an inner sanctum character. Christopher was part of the top four characters. He has so much insight with the Sopranos as well as other tv and movies. In fact, it was Michael whose movie recommendations have been superior. Here’s the problem with the show. Schrippa is not good at this. His incessant interruptions and stupid questions ruin a great podcast. He rarely lets guests answer and he has no follow up questions. His knowledge of TV/Movies is limited to Blue Bloods( a dull procedural). If you partnered Michael with Terry Winters this may have been one of the best entertainment podcasts ever made. Unfortunately Schrippa’s lack of knowledge and his immaturity I.e., the never ending expertise of the mafia and constant stories make him a real life Paulie Walnuts. I had to stop listening several episodes ago due to Schruppa’s poor style and uneven flow. Michael is cerebral, intellectual, a real actor who can talk ability methodology and writing but he can barely get a word in edge wise with Det Blue Blood. Another thing that is real annoying about Schruppa is the incessant name dropping. Without going into Freud we all know what that means. I feel sorry for him. I also feel sorry for what had a chance to be a great show for a the best TV show ever and will ever be made. Jason Blum Washington DC

I am a Soprano fan and have been hooked since the first episode. Michael and Steve have really great banter and chemistry and it makes it a really enjoyable listen. As much as I enjoy their insight into each episode, I enjoy even more they reflecting on their own personal experiences both inside the business and their personal life. It makes my day go by with a smile.
Steve is a guy from my old neighborhood. Never met him, but those I know who have know him think he is a stand up guy.

Now it’s devolved into redundant information. While Imperioli focuses on the show, Schirripa is an arrogant blowhard who only focuses on his goofy grudges without adding much substance to the podcast - if ever a guy hit the actor’s lottery!

I missed the Sopranos in its first run because I didn’t have HBO. I just started streaming and got hooked (up to season 4).
I found this podcast and now listen after each episode. Great chemistry and insider deep dive scene-by-scene. I love that they take it seriously and analyze the characters and motivations.

Michael: makes good point
Steve: LISTEN!! Absolutely!
Don’t get me wrong, this is very good, but it could be much better. Also they consistently say the sopranos is the best show ever but admit they haven’t seen much tv. As good as the Sopranos was, it can’t hold The Wire’s jock, and they constantly talk about how the sopranos are the only show to do “this” when ‘the wire’ did the same thing and way better

Just so-so

Great idea, but Steve can be so difficult to listen to. No idea why he breaks Michael’s chops so much when he tried to analyze the episodes. They have such a strange relationship. Steve also interrupts all the time just when Michael is about to say something interesting. Could be so much better.

This has proved one of the rare shining moments during this pandemic. For a Sopranos fan or anyone interested in the behind the scenes of modern show business, it’s a treasure trove of anecdotes, tidbits & education Our host’s personalities are engaging and hearing them esp. when they disagree or start bickering is fun. This is one of my all time favorite podcasts. 2👍🏼👍🏼from the of Siskel & Ebert ghost of podcasts.

The show content is very good because they follow the storyline of a masterpiece of a show but the two guys seem to be very passive aggressive about each other. If they like each other, it doesn’t seem it. They don’t have a good dynamic, it feels like a forced relationship because of their connection to the show. Working with someone you don’t jive with is always noticeable and in this case, comes out through constant shouting matches. I hope they fix things up and maybe bring in a third party to smooth things out and direct the show because it is all over the place at times.

I loved the TV show The Sopranos, and this podcast does a pretty good job reviewing the series. More importantly, this show highlights the difference between intelligent TV writers like Mr Imperioli and dumb actors like Mr Shirripa. Mr Shirripa is one of the worst podcast hosts I’ve ever encountered, and this show is absolutely carried by Mr Imperioli’s intelligence, wit, perspective, and patience. Take an improv class, Mr Shirripa; your conversational abilities are negative garbage, and you make this show something of a chore — particularly your pride in your ignorance.

I’m a fan since the beginning of the whole thing and this is a great podcast. Down to earth and touches on everything good about each episode discussed. Steve and Michael and all the guest cast members bring back great memories. I miss the show and James as a human being and acting genius. But I have everything on the DVD and starting all over again from the very first episode. It’s been too long since I was there with them all.

Baccala is ANNOYING

 –

2021-07-13
Where to begin with Baccala…I mean, Steve Schirippa actually chides Michael for analyzing the episodes. His contribution to the show essentially brings and ends with his belief that mayonnaise plays some unspecified role in the show—DESPITE THE FACT THAT DAVID CHASE TOLD HIM IT DIDN’T. Honestly, the real Bobby Baccala makes the fake one look like a brain surgeon. The guy is a complete moron who is consumed with petty grievances with people who probably don’t know he exists (see DeNiro, Robert). Never mind that this matters zero in respect to a deep dive on the Sopranos. Who cares if Steve hates Pat Cooper? NO ONE. The guests
on this show are typically good and Michael Imperioli is an intelligent, well thought-out guy. Why he chose to partner with this boorish ignoramus is beyond me. Almost any other co-star (a term I use generously in reference to Baccala) would have been better. What an absolute clown.

I re-watch the series every few years. The podcast adds a fascinating new dimension to the experience — especially during the pandemic. Great interviews — David Chase priceless. Where else could we hear about Milton Berle’s personal anatomy, hunchbacks, where to get the best pizza slices, hear rich insights into acting, writing, and directing, the New York acting scene, and wonder whether Michael and Steve’s friendship can survive this podcast (suspect it will). Thanks, Michael and Steve, for sharing this.

I loved the Sopranos and have watched it twice. Michael and Steve do a great job with this podcast and adding the guests has been a real plus. I also enjoy all the other banter as well including how difficult it is to create and sell a TV show, the New Jersey Devil, and being a Big Daddy! Somehow I alway am hungry after this podcast after they talk about the great restaurants in NYC.
Finally you guys need to get a kickback from Amazon Prime for all the money I spend on movies you guys mention in the show!

Started my own rewatch of The Sopranos recently, just learned about this podcast. Great back stories, agree with other reviewers about Steve interrupting and sometimes dominating too much. Hope it improves, am right at beginning. Loving Michael’s insights as actor, writer, sounds like a true fan too. When Steve relaxes and talks about his insights very interesting and fun as well.
