Akilah and Gideon make a good team. Good way to start the day

The hosts do a wonderful job of sharing the news, pop culture updates, and adding in upbeat conversation into what can be depressing news topics. Well done.

I enjoy this Podcast. But am getting very tired of the hosts and guests hosts using the word ‘like’ every third word.

I taught my son in his adolescence to stop using it.

It’s time... let it go; ‘like you know you can. Like my son did. And like...’

I would listen to this every day if it stayed like it was today December 1. Sorry. Gideon is awesome! These two have chemistry though.

I listen to What a Day every morning when I first wake up. It’s a fantastic way to start my day because it is brief yet informative.

I can get informed and cringe and chuckle all at once

THANK YOU for your 3/25 episode on sex workers. I appreciate you shedding light on sex work, the violence sex workers face, and the issues created by the criminalization of their work. This issue has been absent from our larger discussion of the killings in Atlanta, and you were able to acknowledge it while still being respectful of the victims and their families, and not simply taking the killer at his word. Thank you.

I do appreciate receiving the news. I understand police reform is needed, but it is very frustrating that y’all have nothing positive to say about the police.

I literally cannot start my day with Akilah and Gideon. They do this show so beautifully and I will be forever grateful!

Gave this podcast a try after a friend recommended it, but was disappointed by the constant updates on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. I thought this was a news podcast not a gossip podcast.

Why wouldn’t you want to listen to two charming, intelligent, funny people tell you the news each morning? I’ve listened to all of the daily news podcasts, this is by far the most entertaining.

New to the WAD Squad and I love starting my day with Gideon & Akilah!

Gilligan is constantly snickering in the background and it’s the most annoying thing.. both of their jokes are bad and terribly timed. but he is the absolute worst.

Just stumbled into the WADiverse a few weeks ago. Now it’s my favorite news summary outlet. Hats off to Gideon and Akilah, who make me feel like I’m curled up inside a warm donut.

I listen to this every day getting ready for work - Akilah and Gideon have great chemistry and I love the content. It is frustrating how often Akilah is out and so they have to have a guest host. The guests are usually great, but why be the co-host of a pod if you are going to be noticeably MIA?

Been looking for a quick breezy news catch up forever! This is exactly what I was looking for.

I love the pod. It’s a fun and informative way to start the day. The hosts are fantastic. The addition of the pup, Fauci, in the ads keeps me from fast forwarding through them 🐶🐶 ❤️❤️❤️❤️.

I listen to this while getting ready in the morning. It’s a great recap of the news, I really like the hosts. Good stuff.

Billed as a unbiased daily news podcast but as I listen all I hear is nasty commentary against people who think differently than the hosts. Sprinkle in untruths and some misleading opinions passed as facts and you have the perfect recipe for anyone looking to be hateful...

Do yourself a favor & listen!

I get more information about currents events in 15 minutes on this podcast than 1 hour of watching CNN. It is short and stays focused on the facts. If you don’t have a lot of time and want to know what is going on in the world this is a great way to do it!

I love the content and the hosts. I look forward to listening to WAD every day! The editing is rough though. I've recently noticed sloppy transitions, and sentences being cut off. Not sure if there's a new editor, and I'm totally willing to give some grace, but it seems to be an issue that I've just recently started to notice.

Nevertheless, I'm going to keep listening! Love the WAS Squad!

I listen to this podcast daily, but only for select portions. Those parts are the first story and headlines. Unfortunately in a podcast that’s only about 15-20 minutes long, there is a 30 seconds intro before any speaking, about 3-5 minutes of commercials towards the end, and a pointless part of the show wherein the hosts “check their temps” - which means they mention something happening somewhere in the country (usually something not incredibly important), then talk about their personal imagination responses to that topic.

Basically, I listen to this podcast in case they touch on something that Up First misses. They usually do, so I continue to listen. But I make sure to use the FF button a lot.

That all said, the hosts (in spite of how they use the time) have enjoyable personalities and lovely voices.

Great coverage, totally liberal show and they’re not afraid to speak their mind. I normally enjoy the episodes, unless they have a guest in, then it becomes embarrassing. I really, really wish Akilah would stop giggling when she interviews guests. It is pretty unprofessional and her behavior is immature. She appears to be nervous and comes across as disrespectful. If you want to be taken seriously, remember you’re on a grown up news show and behave accordingly.

Just as center right/center as the other crooked media shows. Really feels like they pulled a token Jew and token Af-Am.

I love this podcast. It’s really informative and I feel that I can trust what they tell me - no fake news here. Akilah and Gideon present the news with so much warmth, personality, humor, and depth. I used to listen to the daily and up first, but they’re so serious and depressing and it felt like I was listening to “what’s terrible in the world today.” What a Day shares the same info but in a way that doesn’t leave me feeling anxious and depressed.

Omg did you just reference the big comfy couch clock dance!?!?!?! That was an AMAZING deep pull! I’m crying!!!!!!

I really like this show but I was shocked and disappointed when Gideon falsely reported that Israel is denying Palestinians the covid vaccine. The Palestinian Authority which governs the residents of Gaza and the West Bank never planned to get its vaccines from Israel. Meanwhile Israel has vaccinated all of its citizens, including the 20 percent that are Palestinian. Lazy fact checking and lazy reporting. Tuning out.

This show literally gets me out of bed. I love getting ready in the morning with this podcast. The format is perfect.

They go into depth on what matters but it’s not too in the weeds when you’re just trying to wake up. And they always strike the right tone despite the often dark news that we are all living through. The different segments keep your attention compared to other shows where it’s sometimes just podcasters wanting to listen to their own voice.

It’s like having two friends who read the newspaper fill you in on the highlights over coffee so that you can start your day knowing what’s going on in the world.

Oh and the interviews are always excellent and informative.

I’m lost when they don’t have an episode. Short, sweet, and sarcastic.

This is the best podcast for news updates, humor, and is a warm serving of morning brain nourishment.

I really want to listen to this podcast and hear what you have to say, but the background music is so terrible and distracting that I’ve given up.

I listen to this pod on my way home from work every morning! I love the information and the bursts of sunshine that are the hosts!

Akilah has the best laugh

Love starting my day off with it.

...not enough talent. If you’re going to attempt a joke, make sure it’s funny. If you’re going to attempt an opinion, make sure it makes sense. If you’re going to attempt a podcast, make sure it isn’t a daily annoyance for your listeners. I really tried, guys, but you’re tactless and spectacularly unfunny.

I listen to this pod every morning to keep me informed and make me sound smart! On top of being packed with great info, these two hosts are really funny and human. Whenever one of them is out, I am legit devastated! WAD Squad for life!

Everyone knows not to talk to me until I've listened to WAD. I love Akilah and Gideon for their knowledge, their rapport, and their humor. Both are fantastic interviewers.

It is mind boggling how much fun intelligent news coverage can be. The show has short interviews to provide deeper understanding of current issues.

Listen and pretty soon you'll be singing "Headlines" before the last segment.

I was quite disappointed to hear the snarky comments directed towards the Sputnik vaccine simply because it was developed by Russian scientists. Even after proving being highly effective.

Akilah should probably lead by example by cutting on those comments. Scientists in every country deserve respect even if their governments deserve criticism.

I appreciate the information and light-hearted humor, but I’m sick of all of the elevator music or drum riffs running constantly in the background. When you’re talking, turn off the music!

And while I’m at it, who is AOC? I know the answer, but show respect and call her by her name.

With Up First and the Daily, why would I need a podcast where they talk about the same stories but with a lower news quality. This is like thrift shop news. I swear to god if I see one more pun title I will scream. Also already listen to the first fifteen minutes of Lovett or Leave it why would I need to listen to another podcast where the host laughs at their own dry run jokes?

This one actually provides more content: about 30 minutes of ad per segment in their 35 minute show!

I’m 66yo and have the good fortune to have a 30 something son who shared WAD with me. It is one small way for me to connect with your generation and is giving me much hope for the future of our country. If you want to watch something entertaining and was weirdly prophetic when it was made, check out the movie with Bill Murray with animation, Osmosis Jones. They casted in animation form, the evil mayor, as a Trump look alike, who meets a very fitting end and demise.
