I usually listen to true crime podcasts, but I found this podcast captivating. I especially loved the narrator’s voice. I found it very soothing.

This podcast is wonderful - the speaker’s voice is so nice to listen to, but even more importantly, the content is fascinating and told with a deep sensitivity.

I highly recommend it, for anyone, even if you have no real interest or experience with history.

I found Noble Blood the day the first episode aired. I was immediately hooked. I am more of a true crime/investigative podcast kind of girl, but this has definitely jumped to my top favorites.
Dana has a really great voice for podcasts, and she’s super easy to listen to. Wish it was more than every other week!

The best.

I am a huge podcast fan and will say this has become my favorite. It is amazingly well done: no corny acting by the narrator. I love the subtle background music and the narrative is spellbinding. I commuted all the way to work and don’t even know how I got there I was so entranced. Thanks soooo much. I love this show.

Background music :(

There’s background music that plays underneath the speaker at all times (or at least there was in the Marie Antoinette one). This is extremely distracting, please don’t do it anymore

I can’t say how much I absolutely love this podcast !!!! The only problem is they don’t come quick enough and they are way to short !!!
I don’t know if this could happen but with all the time in between each episode some people might kind of forget about it or lose interest. Just a thought

Podcast is amazing for history fans

I listen to loads of podcasts and this is probably one of the best ones I have listened to! Very well organized, performed, etc. - an intelligent way to keep the audience involved in the story. Good job!

The narrator is dry and boring. You might as well read a textbook. I never write reviews and this podcast was so bad I had to. There is so little story to keep you interested and the writing is terrible.
They could take a lesson from some of the better historical podcasts.

Interesting information, irritable intonation

The information is great and interesting but i cant take her talking about child torcher in an elated voice like its something that shes trying to extort for dramatic entertainment. She makes it sound like she likes the violence. Which isn't the point of these histories. The point isn't pure bloody entertainment, almost basking in it like its something that didnt actually happen, some sort of torture porn- no its to look at the horrible things in our pasts and wonder how these things happened and what drove people to act in such ways.

One per week please

I really love this podcast. One of my favorite subjects but it only comes out every two weeks😔. Please.. It's a podcast. One episode per week is the usual for TV. They advertise this so much I wish I hadn't heard about until at least a few episodes were out.

I, like most of us (I imagine), have a podcast hierarchy. There’s solid shows that I play at work because I can respond to meandering emails from Deb in accounts receivable and still be satisfied with my listening experience. There’s great shows I can listen to while I cook dinner, enjoy, take something from, but focus enough that I don’t chop off a pinky or set off the building’s fire alarm. This is neither of those shows. I reserve time for Noble Blood so I can soak it in. The stories are comprehensively researched and deeply explored for a thirty minute episode, the scripts are engaging, and Dana Schwartz is on par with one of those audiobook narrators you truly appreciate and feel guilty for not knowing/being to lazy to investigate. I've never bothered to review anything but took the time here, so I cannot recommend it enough. PSA. It releases biweekly. It’s more than worth the wait considering the quality. We used to tape shows on a VCR or not see them until summer reruns if we forgot to rewind. Two weeks is fine.

I love European history especially royal history and I feel like this was made for me! Interesting and intriguing stories I haven’t heard yet. Can be a little hard to follow at times with a lot of names but I really enjoy it. Can’t wait for more! Was so sad when there wasn’t one last week after they got me hooked the first 2 weeks. Keep it up!

This podcast makes me look forward to waking up early every other Tuesday to walk my dog (he walks daily, but on these special Tuesdays I don’t hit snooze). It’s obvious Dana has put so much care into this production and her writing/story telling is top notch. It’s something she’s passionate about and wants to share with us and the journey so far had been amazing. Waiting for new episodes every other week is absolutely worth it! Thank you, Dana!

My only issue is that it has the same “serious, emotionless” quality that Lore has. I’m a fan of Lore, but that’s the element of Lore that drives me insane. Dana is so charismatic and funny - I think she can bring much more to these stories. The podcast and stories are definitely good enough that I’ll listen regardless (which is what I feel about Lore), but I don’t think the serious tone actually services the spookiness of the stories. The best moments are the ones where Dana’s voice reflects her own unique viewpoint and opinion.

Fascinating!

But it’s too hard to get past the narrator’s weird lisp that she likes use on and off. Like other reviewers have said, this is a “me” problem, but it’s just one I can’t get past. Too bad.

Shallow and anecdotal

2019-08-05
This podcast makes no attempt to analyze or even consider the circumstances and conditions of the history that the stories they tell take place in, nor of the place in society of royalty and nobility. The content is only a handful of stories painting the royalty involved as sad victims of pointless violence, cherrypicking anecdotes to support their ahistorical tellings of events - probably in order to appeal to outrage and maximize engagement. A waste of everyone's time, there's nothing here for people who care to actually learn about the lives and history of the people this podcast is allegedly about.

Loved both episodes so far. It’s interesting that the narrator and writer of Noble Blood has also written a couple of great books in totally different genres. She’s very talented.
