I have listened to episodes 7 & 8, just to get a taste of this podcast and I'm disappointed. There's so much potential with a compelling angle on criminal psychology, but the presentation is poor and the exposition lacks depth.
The narrator's voice is obviously computer manipulated, apparently to achieve a deeper tone (making me wonder what's wrong with the narrator's real voice) with the result that it drags down the pace, leaves long pauses, and ends up sounding somewhat robotic. Episode 8 stretched five minutes of material into a 35-minute podcast by repeating countless times how tragic, horrific, terrible, unexpected, and shocking the wedding murders were on a day that was supposed to be their happiest, a celebration of love, a romantic event, etc.
Along with a smattering of grammatical errors, the story wasn't unfolded in any satisfying or engaging way, telling us up front who was killed and by whom, and offering little in the way of theory about why the killer acted. A better written piece would perhaps start with profiles of the players involved, all the while keeping the listeners' attention by hinting that these seemingly normal people are about to experience something horrific.
A deeper analysis of the crime might have delved into the individuals' backgrounds more, interviewed an expert regarding any of a number of aspects of the killer's possible mental issues, or compared this event to other similar horrific murders of a new bride or groom by a family member, for example.
