Huge assortment of all kinds of love stories, love them and the narrator as well.

I love how the essays are honest and deep, and how they are read by amazing actors and actresses. I'm seriously obssessed with this podcast, and whenever a new episode is released, I listen to it religously. I absolutely love the idea of having actors and actresses read their favorite essays. It's just so moving and bringing so much more to the essays themselves.

Always leaves me reflecting on my life, relationships, and love. So many stories, most of them really, are relatable. This podcast is a way to connect and empathize and honestly get some advice from people who've been through serious things in their lives and have lived, at least in some ways, to tell about it. I recommend this podcast to all newbie listeners as it's short enough to keep your attention but meaningful enough to matter. I also love the follow ups that are done with the authors and the insight from the actors.

I've been a loyal reader of Modern Love for several years. It's such a pleasure to listen to the reading of these marvelous stories. And hearing from the writers and where they are now is icing on the cake! I don't miss an episode.

One of my favorite shows

I didn't realize how much I would love this podcast. Each story is so heartfelt and vulnerable. It is impossible not to connect to each one. I highly recommend it.

There are a million podcasts out there that share raw/honest/moving stories. This is not your run of the mill version. I love the unique touch of having a celebrity read the story, and then the interview with the author at the end. Brilliant.

These stories are beautifully written and usually pull at the heart strings but in a way that give you a fuller view of life

While some of the circumstances can be so different from those in my own life, I often feel like I can identify with the feelings that are so well described in these stories. Thanks to all those who have read the essays, you all do such a great job conveying the emotions.

Stories are thought provoking and wide ranging. The actors usually do a fantastic job bringing the story to life and I love hearing the updates fromt the authors after the fact. Definitely a great listen!

Sometimes we become so detached about real life stories and the different shapes love presents in our life. I highly recommend this podcast to listen to stories that will make you feel like you are not the only one feeling the happiness and sadness of feeling love.

a podcast that gives me hope

When my heart is filled with resentment for myself and my inability to pit myself out there, I just put this podcast on and wallow in self-hatred. Great pod.

I devour each and every episode with so much joy and almost compassionate. It is so soothing and easy to listen.

I love this podcast. The focus is wonderful in a time when the news is discouraging. It has compelling stories, is a perfect duration, and is high quality. The staff should do a masters class on how to develop podcasts.

The first thing I thought of when I heard about "Modern Love" was romantic adult male-female love.

This podcast goes toward a much more complete understanding of love, which includes LGBT, parent/child, and any other kind of love you can think of.

Every episode is a world of its own, and I enjoy them all, usually for different reasons.

I love this podcast for many reasons. First, I love the length of each episode. Digestible in bite-size pieces. Second I love the multiple perspectives that I presented. Author, narrator, writer, editor, and sometimes even one of the main characters. Third, I love the approach that explores many different aspects of contemporary love in its many forms. However, after listening to almost 20 episodes, I have yet to hear any explorations of same-sex relationships and only a handful of non-heteronormative, monogamous relationships. What gives!?

I love this podcast. I do. The stories are honest, well written, beautiful, charming, witty, funny, and sad. My only critique...if you're going to do a "special", be creative and stop recycling old stuff. If you're a lover of the podcast, you have already listened to these stories over and over. The valentines "special" was not special at all. BORING.

Wonderful. Love how an actor or actress reads a story and then shares why they read it

One of my favorites to unwind and disconnect from the heavy reality. My 12 y/o and I both love the stories, the celebrity narrators, and post interviews.

Modern Love tries to be insightful, but lacks the heart and soul that real love possesses. Or then again, maybe it's just not my style.

What a terrible job Megan Hilty made of reading this poignant essay, with her little chuckles and giggles as she reads about a relationship surviving catastrophic illness. She read it like a Hallmark ad., was she even understanding the content? Does anyone direct this podcast? Wish they would. On the whole the writing is good, but this "performance" was excruciating.

A wonderful podcast with heartfelt stories read by actors. They will make you laugh, cry, smile, etc. Check out 'Groomzilla'

I know I'll enjoy Modern Love regardless of the topic or voice actor. It has become my go-to podcast when I want to escape from politics and news. I enjoyed Sela Ward's reading on #49 so much that I listened to it twice back-to-back!

I love this podcast. Bite sized stories of love in all forms.

As a reader of the essays, I was skeptical of the podcast format, but I quickly appreciated it. The essays are read by well-known actors, and then we hear from the author and often the NYT editor who published the essay and the actor who chose to read it. They cover all forms of love, not just romantic love. It's engaging and a good listen.

I love listening to these essays! They're sad and funny and well written and always performed/read so well. A definite must listen.

This podcast gets me every time. Such thoughtful essays about love, vulnerability, and life. Look forward to this podcast each week.

I have been reading the Modern Love column for years in the New York Times. Like my cup of coffee, it's the first thing I reach for on Sunday mornings. So when I heard that the column would be turned into a podcast, I was elated. It is everything I hoped ... and more. First the decision to use professionals to read the stories was so wise. Nothing will make you stop listening to an Audible book or podcast quicker than a bad narrator. Second the musical effects and pacing add so much, just like a radio drama. Finally I do like having the opportunity to hear the writer interviewed on the podcast. I love how the Modern Times editor adds his perspective on why he chose a particular story. It adds a new dimension in finding out what happened to the writer.

I could listen to this podcast all day if only there were more episodes!

Randomly selected this podcast on my walk to work and man I am glad I did. The essays are thought provoking and emotional, really makes you think. I recommend this podcast to everyone!

This is what I looked for: the storyteller, the beautiful voices of actors, human, warm, and very well written stories presented on podcast. I have only one wish: as time progresses, hopefully will be two episodes recorded each week and then maybe three. I cannot wait each week for the next story. Please keep it going, your audience needs it. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. What a weekly treat!

Meghna Chakrabarti needs to respectfully move on down the road. Her forced, trained and over done voice is like bad plastic flowers in the Rose Parade. Just doesn't work. These stories are piercing, personal... She is audibly overdone. Does Sara Koenig have a sister? Nathan Lane? Anna Sale on downers would be great. Ira Glass, do something, please.

I'm loving this show. The stories are moving and beautiful.

Having excellent actors reading these essays adds a life to them that isn't possible to gather from the printed page. Sarah Paulson and Jason Alexander are particularly outstanding. Of course, the follow-up interviews with the authors satisfy my craving for background information.

I enjoy listening to the stories. But the overly long discussion of the stories led by a host with a very annoying voice are superfluous. They add nothing and merely restate the obvious. We don’t need heavy handed explication in order to enjoy a story.

The "Modern Love" podcast is worth a listen. It opens you up to dilemmas in life we've been through or haven't. It may put you to tears but that's okay. Thank you for all the writers who share their stories with the rest of us. <3

Why aren't the writers reading their own very personal stories? Why not current stories? (The one I heard was 10 years old.) And, too long, my friends, too long. Also, host - a distraction- no need if writers read their own pieces.

As someone who doesn't read the print version, I really enjoy what has come from the audio version so far. It's such a unique presentation of readers' stories, having sometimes familiar voices narrating them and walking us through others' lives. I'm glad to have caught this when it started, and I can't wait for many more!

I cannot express fully what this podcast does for my soul and spirt - it is just a beautiful program, both in the bitterness of some of the stories but also in the sweetness of the way love clouds everything. It’s a triumph, well done!

This podcast is the coming together of some of my favorite media. I had high expectations and it exceeds them all!

Tender and touching. The birth mother gives a gift the worth of which she will never fathom. As adoptive parents we want Amy to know the gratitude that we have always felt for the birth mother of our twins.

Simply beautiful and heartfelt stories

So many days go by quickly and busily without any reflection or discussion about things that matter most to us in life. Endless small talk and sitcoms and skirting around the issues that give us the greatest joy and the greatest sadness. This podcast is the cure. And the cherry on top is how well it's done, with professionals (often celebrities) reading the highly-curated true stories submitted to NYT. You'll laugh, cry, discover a new way to see the world, and by the end of episode 3 you'll emerge refreshed with a better idea of what makes the world go 'round.

I offer nothing more than a phrase that embodies my most significant thought in regards to this channel: toats amaze!

Excellent podcast can't wait for more episodes.

I really enjoyed the first two episodes. That said, the first story was already read on This American Life, probably the most well known podcast of all time. I am sure it wasn't intentional but I found that odd, especially since this is so new. I will certainly come back for me, and hope for no repeats.

One of my favorite columns in the Times, and it is just as good as a podcast!

I’m a huge fan of the written column, but something feels very off about the format of this podcast.

The stories seem too brief, as if I can’t really dive into them. The recap/interview afterwards feels more like a filler than providing anything meaningful to the story. I’ll continue listening to a few more, but things need to be reviewed.

I’m not a regular reader of the Modern Love column but I love the direction this podcast is going! It feels different from all the other things coming out of my earbuds. So far I’ve really enjoyed listening to the dramatic readings of the pieces coupled with the interviews of the original writers. I can’t wait to hear more! :)

This is so great. Read the essays every Sunday. I love the audio treatment. Sound effects and music are subtle and perfect. Great to hear the writers at the end. Couldn't be better. I'm hooked.

I love the stories..and how they are narrated beautifully. However, I don't care much for the conversations after. I would much rather listen to the stories. Maybe in the missed connection story, but not the fish story.

Otherwise, it's great!

I love listening to well-read written work. But I don't need or want perky music or bubbly water or anything else in the background. It imposes someone else's meaning on the piece. It also distracts the listener. Unsubscribed. I'll check back later and resubscribe if the sound effects go away.

Like the stories, do not care for the host--between her voice and style of speech, I don't think I'll be a subscriber for long.

Lived up to the expectations and then some!

The stories are great, and I really enjoy the voicing and the sound design. The music adds a little melodrama, makes them more theatrical, which is fun. And to hear the real person at the end is fascinating. Well done.

While I love the column (it is the first thing I read from the Sunday NYTimes each week) the podcast is a profound disappointment. Stick to the print version. Don't bother with the podcast.

As a writer and author, I am thrilled for those whose essays are chosen to be read for this podcast. To have one's work read by an actor for an audience must be a fantastic experience. Just two episodes in, I'm already a big fan - as a Modern Love reader and as a lover of the modern essay. Here's to the writers! Bravo!

I didn't know how badly I needed this podcast until it arrived! My heart went from "two sizes too small" to bursting out of my chest like some kind of romantic adaptation of 'Alien'

So this podcast has been sitting in iTunes for over a month with only the introductory episode up…is it coming? Is it any good? Who knows!
