I tried to like it, I listened to two different cases. A lot of speculation, “captain” and his comments were absurd. In some cases facts are hard to find or the case is so old, I get that, but the level of opinions an baseless speculations are too much for me. I want straightforward facts, let me decide what I think , don’t tell me what to think. Might be good enough entertainment for others. Best of luck to both hosts.

A must listen for true crime fans

Listening to this podcast is like hanging out with friends and also learning about true crime cases all at once. These guys put in a lot of research and time into the content and cover a wide variety of cases. Keep it going guys and thanks for bringing awareness to cases so they aren’t forgotten.

Lack of research, tons of random speculation

Had to turn off part way through the Columbine episode, tons of random speculation and no actual research. Just a lot of one host asking “but what if….” At one point the host is defending the police for not following up with one of the killers direct threats to kill someone by saying “well what if he wasn’t serious?” Umm this kid ended up shooting up a school! I think anyone with any common sense would agree it was very negligent of the police to blow off and not even put in the slightest effort to investigate. Tons of information missing that’s easily accessible on the internet so I’m not sure why they didn’t include any of that. Just two guys who did very little reading on the topic throwing out random info… it was kind of bizarre and very uninteresting. Because of the large amount of misinformation in this episode I can’t listen to the other episodes and trust the information is factual.

Pro cop propaganda

These guys bend over backwards to make excuses for police. All of these missing people and unsolved murders and the cops are NEVER to blame. In some cases, Nic implies that the victim is to blame for the case not being solved. Anything to absolve the police of any responsibility for a botched investigation. The irony is completely lost on these guys that if the cops simply did their jobs there wouldn’t be as many podcasts to do.

Getting worse , almost un-listenable! Too many other true crime pods out there to have to hear this clowns take on a case! He is awful! Note to both: The police don’t have to release info on a case so you can do your armchair investigation!!

I have been binging podcasts while I work for instacart shopping and delivering. Got through Morbid, True crime all the time and true crime all the time unsolved. Went on a search for a new podcast to listen to, got to say you guys are good. I’m only on episode 12 have a ways to go. Excited to get through more, voices are a big thing for me and you guys have nice voices.

While I don’t always agree with their conclusions on a given case (WM3) there’s no denying that Nic and the Captain know there stuff and put a lot of time and effort into each show. Easily the best true crime podcast going.

Just listened to your newest Delphi pod. This theory makes the most sense to me of any I’ve heard! There will always be questions even after the perp is caught!
The police can only arrest someone and charge them based on evidence not just suspicions. They are building a case. It takes time.
We are all going on clues and comments in the public domain. The authorities have not released their evidence yet. But this theory strikes me very likely.
Keep up the good work!!

I used to love this podcast and have been an avid listener for the past year. I recently listened to Part 2 of the Trish Haynes case. The guys did a good job all the way up until the last two minutes when they went on a diatribe arguing against defunding the police. It’s a discussion with having, but a discussion with tons of nuance, for which they provided no appropriate space. There are better forums to vent your political grievances. The manner in which you off the cuff referenced the issue of defunding the police reveals your ignorance and damages your credibility as storytellers. You have lost a listener for now. I hope you all can be better moving forward.

Many podcasts cover the same true crimes using the same resources so they become repetitive and boring. You guys will cover the same true crime with such detail that it seems like I have never heard the story before. Your minds work differently and eventually one of you will cover a question that pops into my mind. You also keep the pallet of your listeners fresh by keeping the banter to a fun minimum and no background music or sound bites. This is a 5 bottle cap podcast that is crisp and refreshing. Love you guys!

True crime is a rather hard topic to make entertaining - but these guys do it. They add humor, but not at the expense of the victims or their families. Tip from me- start listening at episode one - and not the most recent episode - otherwise you will not get the references to “ ban the van”, etc… The music created for the episodes complement the topic well - the Captain does a great job with creating the musical score. The beer ratings are spot on ( for the ones I have been able to locate). Keep up the great work!!!!

This is my absolute favorite true crime podcast. You can tell that the crime has been thoroughly researched and a lot of work has been put into each and every episode. Nick is very detail oriented and the captain is hysterical and creates great music for each episode. I can’t recommend this podcast enough!

I’m late to the show so just started listening a couple months ago, making my way through the 2017 episodes right now. I can’t get enough! I’m not sure who I like more, Nic’s soothing fact spitting voice or the Captain’s husky witty sarcastic remarks. I get so engulfed in every episode while I’m working when people try to talk to me at work it takes a minute to pull me away and get my attention. So glad I found this podcast!

Can’t believe I haven’t reviewed my favorite true crime podcast yet. I’ve listened to many different true crime pods and this is my favorite. I always recommend it to anyone that asks. Nic is a great host and I love all of the captains commentary. The amount of research they put into every case is very obvious, and puts them a head above the rest. Thanks for the hours of entertainment, please keep it up 👍

The quality of this show has gone down over time. Stop assuming everything is about race as well. We hear enough about it everyday I would like to listen to a true crime podcast without hearing a lecture of why racism is bad we get it already.

I usually like this podcast but I noticed on the episode of the 19 month (ayla) old disappearing, that you all didn’t give the right info. At the beginning you said she was driving with her fiancé going to visit the fiancé’s son in prison, then towards the middle you said she was going to visit her boyfriend in prison??
So which is right??

Please, please, stop with the offensive side comments

I enjoy this show but the comments from the Captain have never really sat right with me. Lately, he’s taken it to a level that leaves me unsure if I will continue to listen. In the Brice Rhodes episode, there was countless unnecessary judgements toward the mother of the victim and worse, a very awful impersonation of Rhodes done by the Captain using a very offensive accent. Obviously, Rhodes is scum but no one needs to hear a white guy doing his best black guy voice. Repulsive.
Also, there is countless times when I feel like his comments are incredibly sexist especially in the Ayla Reynolds case. It’s really not your place to comment on use of birth control, shouldn’t that be obvious? Please check your privilege and your judgement.
I have seen a bit more acknowledgment of how police mistreat the BIPOC communities and that is a very small step in the right direction. I do feel this is necessary to bring into the conversation as it is such a huge part of the police force and directly effects investigations daily.

The only podcasts I can listen to. You guys give us every angle as to ‘why or why not’, and more than once, I’ve changed my mind on a ‘who dub it’- so thanks for that ! You two detail every crime as if I’m watching it happen. I’ve gotten my sisters, some friends, and two of my kids hooked, and I’m working on the third one. Don’t worry ... they’re 16, 17, and 20. We have great discussions about your podcasts. So thank you from all of us.

Captain ruins show’s potential - not as smart as they think they are

These two guys used to be entertaining, but now they just get simple facts wrong, it’s just ridiculous how poorly researched some of their shows are. And do we really need a drunk guy who doesn’t know anything about the cases they’re “discussing” rambling on to make no point? I just can’t keep trying to listen to this anymore. It’s gone downhill in a big way.
If the captain wasn’t on the show then it might get decent again, but as long as he’s there they’ll both just keep screwing up.

Listened to this show for YEARS, however, the growing anti police rhetoric being pushed by the captain recently is becoming a bit much. Stating that a family that is white would basically get more assistance from police is baseless information. I thought this show was about diving into a true crime case and sharing the FACTS. It’s a good show but there are so many true crime shows out now I think I’ll listen to one that doesn’t tout false information or make racist remarks like the captain has done.

You can tell Nic is really passionate about podcasting true crime stories. Captain is basically there as filler. The host does a fantastic job laying out the facts of the case. I appreciate a rather no-nonsense approach and analysis of the case as opposed to true crime pods who try to “scare” us — the unsettling comes from the crime itself! Must-listen.

Overall, I love this podcast. Nic is wonderful and the Captain is, well, the Captain. But on the Ayla Reynolds episode, the Captain said a few things that didn’t sit right with me. Namely, that woman should be responsible for birth control and that women should wait until we are financially stable before having children. No mention of men being responsible for birth control or being financially stable. Nic stepped in to correct him, thank goodness. But the Captain came *this* close to victim blaming, but still to close for comfort.
