This movie is very funny and great for most families I am 11 years old I think is very appropriate for all ages over 6. Although acting can be kind of iffy sometimes.

Not a good movie or story for kids. A better title for the movie and books would be "How to be a World Class Jerk." No redeeming qualities or messages.

These books are idiotic and made with no thought at all. The movies have DISCUSTING actors, and is causing kids in my grade (5) to spread this so called "cheese touch!" I only read them for laughter. These books are for stupid people. Why don't they make dork diary movies? Huh? Yah. So, try reading something more complex and something that DOESN'T have a cheesy 14 yr old love life. Like twilight or dork diaries or... Or something other than this crud!

This was one of the best movies I've ever seen! Coming from a 9 year old. My friend and I thought this was super funny.

I haven't seen the movie but I read ALL the books. The books r totally funny and awesome. My brother saw the movie and read all the books 2 but he says the books r WAY, WAY, better but I haven't really seen it so I guess I don't get a say. That's why I gave it 4 stars

This is to all people who think they didn't spend any money on this and nobody should watch it. You know what? I know much more about this movie and I do know that there were millions of dollars spent on it. In fact, Jeff Kinney even wrote a book about the movie! And if you saw how these people made the movie you'll be literally amazed. Literally amazed. I guarantee that the people who rated this movie not so good, I feel amazed that they don't have a sense of humor at all this funny movie!! In every single bit of the movie there was something amazing. And If you liked this movie, I think you'll love rodrick rules and dog days. I read all six books and I love them. I would also suggest that you read the book about the movie which is called how Greg heffley went to Hollywood. That's it! It's up to u now! Don't forget to watch the trailer too!

Cool

I went to the movie to see a new comedy, and a FUNNY one. But all they did to the book was add a visual medium, tweaked the plot a tiny bit, and left out all the jokes. I don't predict that this movie will sell well. However, on the positive side, the casting is amazing, especially whoever played Rodrick. Zachary's a good actor too, but I'm only saying that because of reasons I can't put in this review.

Just plain boring with all the charecters turned into losers nerds and emos. Just don't buy if you're a fan, iy's nothing but a cheap knock off.

Watched this with my middle school aged kids. HORRIBLE.

The "star" of the movie is a jerk selfish kid. His mom tells him to do "whatever feels right" as opposed to telling the truth. The dad is portrayed as a complete idiot. This movie sends all the wrong messages.

Good grief. How many bathroom related scenes do you need in the first 15 mins of the movie? That and half dressed kids everywhere. Perverted.

I think that the books are hilarious, but the movie isnt all that funny.

This was a great book, and it had a lot of potential to be a good movie, but the bodily functions and poor acting from the cast ruin the original light hearted funny plot. The characters were incredibly cheesy and over animated. This is 3rd grade humor when the book was based off of middle school. Honestly, no one over the age of five can really take the jokes seriously without rolling their eyes.

It seems like every 5 minutes someone is on the toilet. Sorry, not something I want to see. The books are WAY better. Glad I only rented the movie.

Terrible movie.

The movie itself was an overall jumbled up mess. It was a repetition of disgusting bodily functions, cheap jokes that might make you laugh, and poor writing. The quality of the acting was terrible; it looked more like a cheap comedic show you'd find on Nickeloden that is failing. It was sexist, rude, and obnoxiuos. Can I stress how terrible it overall was????? Please save yourself the cash to buy, rent, etc this movie. In this economy, you can't spend $10-$20 to waste an hour an a half of your busy day to watch this movie.

Okay, just hold on for a minute here... I just can't stand these movies... This is just NOT how middle school should be portrayed. I'm going into 8th grade and there are no bullies, no one cares about being "cool", and everyone, and I mean EVERYONE cusses. And I don't mean crap, idiot or stupid. I mean the real deal. I mean for god's sake already, do something authentic with movies about school. As for the movie, I was pleasantly surprised that the writing didn't bash the movie's faithfulness to the book. But still, I expected it to get -14 stars, so it's still a bad movie...

I didn't really like it or think it was funny. I guess it's alright for little boys but even my little brother didn't like it. It teaches kids to be rude and the whole movie is pretty weird. I guess I liked the books but the movie wasn't very good. Plus they're supposed to be in middle school but they look like second graders! Yeah... Not one of my favorites.

Sure its cute, and has a lesson, but it's not as funny. The kids look like 4th graders, and the actors are cheesy. I recommend the book over the movie any day.

As a fan of the book series since its first release, I admit I had my doubts about the movie. But in truth, I had nothing to worry about. The movie, while many of the scenes were adapted from the book, lived up to its quality, while still giving fresh, new material that just added on to the laughs. The performances really felt accurate to the characters and really gave us a different view than just Greg's to the story. The story itself never died down and never got boring. It even had a few touching moments between the characters and still tied in to the comedy. I believe that while it didn't quite live up to the book, I still think the movie sure is good. Highly recommend.

I'm 10 years old and I sugest that you read the books(wich are realy easy) befor waching the movie.Why...?Because then it's more understandable. I rated Diary of a wimpy kid the movie 4stars (wich I would of rated it 31/2stars but I couldn't figer out how to make a half)Because it was a good movie but had a couple realy ify parts

P.S.the wimpy kid in the movie is so much cuter then in the book not that he was ever cute in the book.
