This movie is garbage. I first saw it at 8, having little experience about films. I liked it. Now, it's a crapy, predictable, cliche orgy of terrible acting and action scenes. The second one is worse. It has the same problems, doubled. The books are good, though. Buy them instead.

Ok so first of all, i am a die-hard percy jackson fan. this movie did not impress me whatsoever. the actors were way to old, percy and annabeth were supposed to be 12 not 16! and who hired annabeth's actress? she was AWFUL!!! the only good part of this movie was grover. how did Uncle Rick let his masterpiece get twisted into this. . .thing!

LIKE WHAT THE HECK. That starts Percy's and Annabeth's relationship and is the cutest meeting ever. Rick Riordan, the author of this series, didn't even like it. This is trash and the books are better. If you want to know what really happens read the book, then you will understand the review.

I was very excited for the portrayal of the Percy Jackson movies - one of my favorite series, and a favorite of all of my elementary school classmates at the time - and simply put, I could not have been disappointed. This movie contained almost no correlation to Riordan’s book, only bothering to retain, and assign blame to, the same characters. Next, the plot that was fabricated in place of Riordan’s beloved story was not only abandoned, but replaced by something much weaker and not even mythologically accurate, betraying the cherished cultural stories that the series is based on. I have not met a single Percy Jackson reader who was not utterly disappointed by these movies. Read the books. It is much more worth your money.

Never before have I watched a movie so thrilling, breathtaking, and completely awe inspiring. It mixes the best of modern and ancient creating an undeniable attraction towards all mythological things. Even the unruly villains who can't seem to the obvious just of, " we will defeat you and you will die and stay dead as long as I am here". Also I was incredibly surprised by the fact that the actors they used in the movie were very similar if not identical with to a lot of people's mental images of the characters from the books.

This movie has taken a dump on the story of Percy Jackson. Probably the worst adaption of any book that I've ever seen. I cannot stress to you how bad this movie is when compared to the amazing book series.

I really enjoy the books and kind of enjoy the film series. I won't play the compare game, but I will say the movie overall is decent. It's the type of flick you and the kids can sit down to and enjoy together.

Yes I can agree with everyone who has read the book. The movie is completely different from the book. But the thing is though this movie is more look "inspired" by the book, instead of based on the book. Personally I found a LOT of enjoyment from this film. I remember seeing it in theaters. It was one of the best movie experiences I had ever seen. If you have read the books and haven't seen the movie, then don't watch it thinking of getting a perfect book-movie adaptation (ex. The Hunger Games). Know that the movie is more "inspired" by the book, like I previously mentioned. Hope you enjoy it! :)

I absolutely loved the Percy Jackson series, so I was really disappointed when this came out as was nothing like the books.

I was looking forward to a Percy Jackson movie so much. I love the books. I can't say the same for the movies. Percy for starters does not have green eyes in the movie and his personality seems different and the ages for everyone is WAY off. Annabeth, is a brunette in the movie which got me really confused and her personality is all wrong, she is supposed to be strong and brave and she is supposed to be braver then Percy. Her first real line in the book was "you drool in your sleep" but in the movie she just comes off so girly. Grover, I didn't think they could go wrong with but I was very, very wrong. Dionysus and Chiron's personalities just seemed wrong. I love these books and the movies I feel completely opposite towards. I feel as thought the plot and everything just went completely wrong in the movies. The books where perfect and I don't know why they couldn't do the same for the movies. I love the books and can not wait for more. I really hope that they might try and redo the movies and get everything right this time around. And for those of you who say it's fine that the plot is completely different try reading some and read these books and see how much you like the movies then. I mean look at The Hunger Games, Divergent, Harry Potter and so many more and see how well the directors did at recreating the books into movies compared to the Percy Jackson movies. Bravo to the directors of the movies that where actually accurate. I would try reading the series instead of watching these. I promise you will love the series.

If you have read ALL the books, you know these movies are absolute junk. I'm a huge fangirl, The movie line is 0.00001% similar to the books. Annabeth (Alexandra Daddario) has brown hair, she also is 29!!! More then double the age she's supposed to be in the book. It's also missing parts for example when Luke attacked Percy with the scorpions. And after ONE day of training, Percy goes on a quest? There are so many flaws in the movie. I really dislike it, and I'm pretty happy there not making a third movie. On the bright side, if you haven't read the books, enjoy it!!!!!!

Do not watch this movie if you have already read the books. I have read the books and was so hyped to see this movie, it's NOT at all how it is depicted in the book, so many key parts are missing! There's no part with the bus explosion and the 3 kindley ones, Percy never jumps from the St. Louis Archway, Cerberous is never even in the movie, the underworld is not depicted in the movie as it is in the book, Thalia is never mentioned, Tautarus isn't even in the movie, hades helm is never mentioned, Ares and Clarisse aren't in the movie, Annabeth has brown hair, not Blonde, the oracle isn't even mentioned in the movie, the whole movie is about them going on a quest to find the 3 Orbs, not get the bolt from Hades, Hades wife isn't even in the book, but she's in the movie. I could go on and on and on, Terrible movie if you have read the books, if you haven't this would probably be a good movie for you, but read the books, WAY BETTER! Don't waste your money, please I'm telling you. I regret it already.

1. They had the hydra on the 2nd book

2. Annabeth has blonde hair, grey eyes

3. The book isn't COMPLETELY about the search for Persephone's pearls

4. They are TWELVE in the book, NOT 16 or 17

The plot of the movie and the plot of the book was compltely different. Yet, the movie was still really good. Although they were missing some very important parts, like Thalia's tree, and the fact that Percy is twelve and not sixteen. They also skipped a lot of the places that they go to on their quest, such as Waterland. They also left out Percy's meeting with the orcale.

Overall, see the movie before you read the books. Otherwise, it will not make sense.

To make a long story short, the movie was nothing like the book. But than again, there are things that you can do in a book and not in a movie and visa-versa.

The acting was decent. Logan Lerman did as best as he could and did pretty well. If you have already watched the movie, you might have noticed that Grover is black. So, yes, the movie is very different from the book. But, as with all movies, you have to get past that and just think of the movie.

The movie was great if you didn't read the books but if you did read them, You would easily see that they had almost everything wrong. I suggest to eveyone who hasn't read the books to do so. Afterall, it's my favorite series.

Not a very good movie. Marginal acting very slow story ZERO plot building and very predictable. Sword fight scenes look like they were done by a high school drama club.

If you want a real story, read the Percy Jackson book instead. They totally trashed the books when they made this movie. The prophecy that comes true when Percy is 16 can't happen because he's already 16. There's also no mention of Kronos, which basically makes all the action in the rest of the series. In the movie Annabeth is a brunette with blue eyes and in the book it repeatedly says that she was a blonde with gray eyes. You think they could've found a blonde at least! In the book, Percy and Annabeth were on the same team for Capture the Flag, they went to St. Louis, and Luke was not the lightning thief. The movie also does not mention Thalia's tree or all of Annabeth's background with Luke and Thalia.

All in all, it was kind of good acting but the books were better. I give it two stars because Logan Lerman (playing Percy Jackson) was cute.

I admit that I read all of the books in 3 days so I know I'm a nerd, but still the fact remains that in the first book Percy was supposed to be 11 not 16. A big part of the story was the fact that he was in 6th grade in the first book and that he was part of a prophecy that may or may not come true when he grew up; i.e. when he turns 17. The fact that the prophecy was fleshed out during all 5 books makes it seem that this very well may be another one-shot wonder in the vein of the movie Eragon. I'm hoping that if they do make another movie in this series, they at least add Clarissa, Thalia, Tyson, and make more of a mention to Kronos. They also tended to leave out a lot of the action that was happening between the gods themselves that made the books so much more than just another hero-kid story. I know that I'm harping on this movie a lot but, I loved the harry potter movies and I was hoping that this movie, since it's the first story of another great book series would stick more closely to the formula that the harry potter movies established. I mean the Harry Potter movies stay basically true to the books in that they don't take liberties with the plot and they don't change characters ages and for the most part don't omit major characters altogether. THAT is what I was expecting, NOT THIS. All negativity aside, this is a great movie in it's own right as long as you don't expect too much and have not read the books.

This movie was only good if you didn't read the book. They took out so many good parts, even the best one where Percy fight Ares. Here he fights Luke. book gets a bajillion star rating and the movie gets -bajillion star rating.

I realize that movies often have to make changes in order to bring a book to the big screen. Unfortunately this movie throws away core characters and storyline hoping that the audience will be satisfied with smoke and mirrors.

Although the movie looks good it really is nothing like the books. It leaves out key points that the book covers in full. Like Annabeth being BLOND!!!! How could they miss that?!? Also, the cabins in Camp Half Blood were beautiful individual cabins that had intracit designs, not just plain tents!!! I say that if you read the books before you saw the movie you would have not liked the movie. But, if you had seen the movie before you read the books, you would have most likely loved it because it did have great detail and amimation.

The movie is a mix of action, mythology, and romance, even though Annabeth and Percy aren't supposed to fall in love until like the fourth book. I could watch it like 100 times and it would not get old.

I read all five books in one week... so I was thrilled at the prospect of seeing it live action... Wow.. they destroyed something that could have been so great! They left out main and crucial characters in the books... I have never been so disappointed in a movie... maybe if i had watched the movie first I could have been ok, but having read the story ... well let's just say it broke my heart. This movie did not follow its book to any extent what so ever!! I was very disappointed by this, it made it seem like they came up with their own story and just used the names of the characters and the setting. The characters did not fit their book descriptions Percy was way to old. For Ex. In the movie he is in high school in the book he is in sixth grade. Also, there is a very main character that they did even include in the movie so I have no idea how they are ever going to make another one. (who knows? Lord help them). Although, it was a great movie if you have never seen, heard of, or read the books at all. The effects were great, the acting was ok, the set was really cool, and once again the effects were really cool. So, buy the movie, if you have never READ the books. Ok, so I read the books, loved them, and thought the movie would be good too. Boy, was I wrong. It completely destroys the plot! It was a rip off! The entire story was about them finding Persephones pearls which, if you read the books, you know thats completely wrong. Clarise, Ares, Thalia's tree, the Gateway Arch scene (one of my favorites), and so much more were not even in it! They left out alot of little things that end up being very important in the rest of the series, so they better not make Sea of Monsters. Maybe it would be a good movie if I had never read the books but it was impossible for me to enjoy it because I spent the whole time shouting "No thats completely wrong!" If you have never read the books, maybe you would like it. It's so far off the real story that it won't spoil anything. If I could I would rate this movie negative twenty!

The book Rick Riordan wrote was much better, and it wouldn't have been too hard to make. im pretty sure the only thing they got right is Percy's name. First of all the scene in the parthenon was totally made up. They also focused on the pearls that would get them out of the underworld, inn the book they were given those before they whent to olympus.

i really enjoyed this movie i have to say. i was dissapointed at how different the book & the movie are though. i don't really care about how old the characters are or what they look like but the storyline was a bit butchered & lost some of the main parts. many characters were missing like Ares & Clarrise & they did not mention anything about thaila or kronos which are KEY parts of the next books & kind of the whole support of the books. the movie seemed to revolve around percy, anabeth & grover finding pearls when in the book they're given the pearls already and are just trying to get to the underworld.

YET standing alone this movie is great. i don't think it's fair to rate this movie 1 star because the actors & the people who did the special effects did a great job. i fell in love with the characters & story all over again despite the major plot differneces. the only think i worry about is a sequel, because i reallly want one, i just don't know how they could make it anything close to the book considering they left out key parts & characters, but who knows.

If you havent read the Percy Jackson Series yet then I believe you will enjoy the movie. Its a great modern greek mythlogy film but to those that have read the series will be seriously dissapointed! There are sp many things wrong in the movie that it probably tops Twilight or Harry Potter as far as the movie being ruined! They were way off on the plot, several charachters were missing, and things just didnt add up. I'd be surprised if there was a sequel considering one of the charachters that was missing(Clarisse) has a bigger role in the sequel.

I loved this movie, but i wasn't finished with the book yet. The story line is nothing like the book, and Kronos was never mentioned.That was all Chris Colombus' fault. Yeah, i know that the books aren't exactly like the book, but this was nothing close. Although, the actors are very well played but not young enough. Characters were left out like : Ares, god of war, and his daughter. Nevertheless, the movie still got me hooked and i feel for the director of the sea of monsters because he/she will have a very tough time including many more characters.

Personally, I loved it. It was a GREAT movie. For those people who were disappointed because it didn't follow the storyline in the book, I feel the need to remind you: IT WAS ONLY BASED ON THE BOOK. It didn't necessarily have to follow the book exactly. I'm sick of people complaining that a movie "doesn't exactly follow the book it's BASED off of." It gets REALLY annoying.

Oh, and there is NO WAY it could be BETTER than Harry Potter. It was just as good as, but no series can outmatch Harry Potter. ^_^

The books are much better than the movie, and they changed some parts about it, but hey, at least they didn't cast someone like Josh Hurcherson to be Percy because Logan Lerman is SOOOOOO hot!!! And Josh wouldn't have made a good Percy. He just doesn't act as good as Logan.

I was so looking forward to seeing this amazing series-opener come to life on the big screen. But unfortunately, I was rather disappointed. Some scenes were very good--- loved the Underworld and Mt. Olympus (EXTERIORS; interiors of the castles were some of the cheesiest sets they had)--- while others simply didn't live up.

Persephone's Pearls were featured in a TINY sliver of the book, not the whole plot. And Annabeth is always referred to as BLOND in the books. Not brunette.

Also, they must not want to have a sequel, because they failed to indroduce--- let alone MENTION--- key characters, like Clarisse. I was also looking forward to seeing their rendition of the cabins. The books describe them as intricate, detailed structures. Not colorless tents. And they did not ONCE metion Thalia, or her Pine Tree.

The Lotus Hotel & Casino was okay. But there were no little "Lotus Flowers" in the book. I know I keep refrencing to the book, but is one of those Series that needs to be done justice at the movies, too.

And something was up with Chiron. The actor's acting was fine, but the body was out of proportion BIG TIME.

This movie is so good i could see it 50 times not once getting tired of it!

I think that who ever likes the movie they should read the series. I hope they make the series into movies. I totally recommend it. And did you know that annabeth is really blonde in the book! So read the books!!!

OK, somy mom got me the first book and Ive been hooked on the series since. I went to see the movie when it first came out. I loved it! Im a total fantasy fiction geek so this kind of movie was perfect for me. The idea of there being a secret camp for people who are the children of the gods is so cool. Plus, the plot of the movie followed the book really well but its easy to understand the movie even if you havent read it. Kids will love this movie and I think their parents might too. Lots of action, a really good moral, and a little bit of a romance. I dont know if theyre making Sea of Monsters, but I really hope so. I might just go see it on opening night!

beter than harry potter series big time . why do pepole think it is stupid its not maybe if they watch this movie they would like it and let me give my oppinoun it is packed with adventure acton . gods. possiden.mudosue.and the furery. i so like the partwhen they look for the dieminds in las vegas and when thier in mudosue's lair and when they look for the flag i still have a lot of parts but i dont whant to give anything away for the pepole ho havent seen it but i like the movie throughout. any way it bets harry potter but percy jackson but what is the second one called.
