I'm the type who has to experience "A Christmas Carol" every year, whether as a movie, a play, or the original book. I'm hooked, and I have been for decades. So, when I say that this is one of the best versions I've ever seen, it means something.
"The Muppet Christmas Carol" has everything: the warmth, the humor, the chills, the sadness, the hopefulness, everything.
Michael Caine does a wonderful job as Ebenezer Scrooge, and Kermit the Frog (of all people) is actually a very believable Bob Crachit. Gonzo the Great does a bang-up job playing Charles Dickens as the narrator. The Ghosts are beautifully created and performed, as we've come to expect from the Muppet puppet designers. The dialog is generally faithful to the book, with appropriate humorous asides from the various cast members. The musical numbers are catchy. Everything combines to make watching this a very enjoyable experience.
If you like or love "A Christmas Carol," you owe it to yourself to own this movie. Get it; you won't be sorry.
