Dead Man’s Chest is a very needlessly convoluted and bloated film with little sense of coherence and narrative direction, particularly in its breakneck-paced first hour. There’s too many characters and storylines to follow, and the first 30 minutes in particular feel like there were roughly a dozen possible opening scenes, and Gore Verbinski opted to use them all. All that being said, Verbinski also delivers many (and I mean MANY) absolutely thrilling swashbuckling set pieces to distract from the frankly aimless plot. Johnny Depp and Bill Nighy’s iconic turns in this film also distract from some rather lackluster performances from some rather lackluster side characters (cough, Will Turner and Elizabeth Swann, cough). It’s strangely enough to carry this film, even if it merely end up being a gigantic lead-up into the next one.

Love his movies, very good actor like in Alice in wonderland, and Edward scissor hands(my all time fav.) love it though when he is a back-stabbing pirate. While some of his movies may not be kid-appropriate, there still very good and not to far fetched with the “stuff” BIG time Johnny depp fan, YOU GO JOHNNY DEPP!!!

This is a great, fun, entertaining, exciting, awesome, terrific movie. I love this movie a lot. I love Johnny Deep as Captain Jack Sparrow the pirate. I love Orlando Bloom, and Kira Knightly in this movie to. I love all of the characters in this movie. It is one of my all time favorite movies ever.

Overall, the movie Dead Man's chest was pretty good. I would recommend it to a friend. There is plenty of action, adventure, drama, humour, and romance. The only drawback for me was that Will Turner is not ...well, the same anymore, but that's just my opinion. I don't think they did as good a job on this movie as the first, but still, it was quite impressive. I would rate Dead Man's Chest four and a half stars.

The entire series of The Pirates of the Caribbean is one of the best! iTunes needs to make it part of a bundle set for under $30

This movie was amazing a WAY better than the first! It was not entirely suitable for some children, but is defenitly worth watching!

I cannot believe how hard my uncle worked on this! It is just so impressive and I love it. I am apart of the East India Trading Company, LITTERALLY! My father was James Cook. Captain of the HMS Cook. I was Co-Captain. My father was killed in action and I survived with only one leg. That leg is a peg leg now. I have a cruch and I am very sad everyday because of what he did for me and my family. I miss him very much. Please like this movie. My father was very brave and courageous. (FYI, My father James Cook, isn't related to my uncle.) Thank you for your discriptions.

I am the biggest POTC fan ever! Bigger than anyone else! I know everything about this movies. From the casting, to the extras, to the lighting!

I've only seen this one but I love it I played the lego video game play the online game and once I loved this so much I dressed up a a pirate for Halloween,btw if you make a fith movie maybe do a sweepstakes on the online game for a new character in the movie from the online game I just love it I don't play the online game anymore but I still love pirates because jack sparrow is crazy the part on the commerical for the fourth one where he said did everybody see that because I'm not doing it again was hilarious

And I say you should make a fith movie to Atlantis or the return of Jolly Roger or a city of gold or even all of that in one whole disc!

At first, I didn't think this could top the first Pirates of the Caribbean movie. But after I saw it, I was pleasantly surprised. It was great and a blast to watch from beginning to end. I loved Pirates 2!

I lived this movie but there were some really scary parts with guns and knifes.

I've read that Director Gore Verbinski kept the film's final plot point, about 30 seconds, under wraps from everyone. Look at each of the actor's eyes as they understand The Mystery and I believe the story. NEVER in my 37 years of attending films have I ever seen an audience stand up, literally on their feet in unison, and cheer so loudly, clap so boldly, and agree so universally as I did during my screening of "Dead Man's Chest." I was shocked too. The ending provides hope during a moment of utter defeat, and it teases us with the next film. But that ending alone is worth every cent paid to watch this movie.

A bold plot move at the end of a sequel to a vastly popular film, and Verbinski & Co. pull it off. Bravo!

The Movie starts out Cutler Becket has a decree that Will is in serious trouble. Next it starts out jack escapes from a Island in a coffin next they go out to sea and fined the won the only DAVY JONES! Jack has a debt and has a black spot then they visit Tiadama who gives Jack A Jar of dirt? Next Elizabeth goes to Tourtuga and finds Admiral Norington as a drunk pirate and heads off she then finds Jack. Then Will is on the Dreaded Dutchmen and meets his father and helps him find the key and let's him escape and finds another ship which the Crakon eats will escapes with Sea Turtles then after Jack goes to the Island were the chest is buried and Elizabeth discovered that Jack lied and Norington, Will, and Jack fight over the chest and head to the Mill were there inside it fight like it's a big Hamster wheel Jack gets the key escapes opens the chest finds the heart hides it when Davy Jones Crew finds him he puts the heart in the Jar of dirt when Norington realizes he hid it there and takes it. After Will wakes up on the ship Davy Jones finds them sends the Crakon Jack breaks the jar but no heart its a fight Gun powder jack shoots BOOM! Everyone escapes except Jack who goes down with the Carkon and his ship after they met at Tiadamas place and then Barbosa is Alive!!!!! Epic ending and Movie

Fantastic movie! But I am a bit disappointed with iTunes. I bought my copies of Pirates of the Caribbean before iTunes Extras, and I see no option for buying just the extras. I would like to be able to buy the extras, alone, or is there another way to get them that I don't know about?

After the first one, I had high expectations for this one. The first half was good but the last half was so bad it made it a bad movie. But they still made it a bit enjoyable with some laughs.

Between the first one and this one, by far this one! Haven't seen the third one, but so far my favorites are the second one and the fourth.

This movie is awesome, great, and fun to watch, BUT, the price is terrible, rediculous, and outrageous.

I would strongly suggest this movie on DVD but 15$ for a movie you cant even watch on your TV (save for ipod video connection cords) is simply REDICULOUS!

this price is an outrage and ruins the enjoyment of the movie by thinking the whole time,"is this really worth 15$ of hard earned money?" I think that they should let us put it on DVD.

Movie is great but price is at best an outrage

The essence of mediocrity lies beneath Davy Jones and The Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest. Long, slightly convoluted and resorting to silliness and tom-foolery instead of capturing the magic that was "Curse of the Black Pearl." Also, it's a bit darker with scarier villains than the first time around. But I kept seeing the same thing over and over and was just checking my watch most of the time wondering when this voyage of the seven seas was going to end.

The main problem I had with the movie was its pacing. 30 minutes, 45 minutes, 60 minutes into the film, the heart of the story finally starts to churn. Set-up seems to take forever as a convoluted plot-line is created that seperates all of our heroes in different directions with different tasks before bringing them all back together again. The plot is not confusing or even hard to follow, but it sure seems like it will be at the beginning. We have a key, a chest, some documents, a drawing, a compass, a mysterious jar of dirt and a lost ship. On top of that, there are about 5 or 6 different groups or individuals all trying to get their hands on said items. Each of these entities might turn on one another at a moment's notice.

Effect effects effects. Grandiose and detailed, everything looks perfect...well, almost. A couple of compositing issues (of which only George Lucas seems to have ever mastered), but for the most part everything looks great. Bill Nighy's (no, not the science guy) squid faced character is rendered absolutely stunningly. The rest of his crustaceous crew are great too; much like the crew of the undead in the first film. A giant sea creature also takes shape fairly well, but after seeing it about 100 times throughout the film, doing the exactly the same thing over and over, it gets old quickly.

Besides Nighy's splendid CGI face, is his tremendous acting ability. Every role I've ever seen him in, he takes the cake. Here is no different. Of course Depp is the lovable star, but Nighy's ability to really give us the creeps as an evil villain is nearly unparalleled. To me, he was just as convincing and compelling as Geoffrey Rush's character of the first film.

Depp, as Captain Jack Sparrow, is still lovable and fun; although decidedly disagreeable at times (which is part of his charm). However, too much of a good thing can spoil the flavor. I feel like that happened here. His mannerisms and quirkiness are still there, but his dark side is brought out a bit more in this film and he isn't quite as fun. The filmmakers resorted to, as I said before, too much preposterous silliness to bring Sparrow to life. A sequence with bamboo and fruit comes immediately to mind. Cute, but not very funny; just kind of eye-rolling zaniness.

I'm not going to sit here and rip the whole thing to pieces. It really has everything a summer blockbuster (probably the year's biggest) is supposed to have, and it does it all very well. There is swashbuckling adventure, big SFX, bankable stars and plenty of action mixed with just the right amount of mystery. In most respects, I found it to be basically the same as the first film. Which isn't always a bad thing, but in this case, instead of being zestful and exciting, it became exhausting.

Since this film and part 3 were filmed basically at the same time and this one has a GREAT mutli-layered, Empire Strikes Back-esque, cliffhanger of an ending, rest assured that after the shipload of money Dead Man's Chest buries, episode 3 will bring about just as much come next May. And I have to admit, $10 of that treasure will be my contribution.

I've seen this movie 8 times and each time I see it it gets better and better. The first time i saw it, I was sad because it had a cliffhanger. But as I watched it again, it appeared to be funny and full of action. This is the best movie ever except for pirates 1!!

Ahoy! Land ho! The day is finally here. (YES!) I've been waiting 151 days for this movie to come out on DVD ( It seemed a lot longer than that!). Dead Man's Chest is reccommended to everyone... I mean EVERYONE. Not just people who love adventure and pirates, but to anyone who wants an amazing movie with an amazing soundtrack and amazing actors and actresses. It's pretty close to being as good as the first one and I can barely wait until the third one. (Hopefully that won't be the end.) By the way... 13 bucks for a BRAND NEW MOVIE?!?!... SO worth your booty (that would be pirate for money) :)

Dead Man's Chest isn't even close to the cinematic masterpiece that was the original. It's just that simple. I understand it's no easy task to make a sequel to a movie as outstanding as Curse of the Black Pearl, but this falls short of even sequel standards.

I remember seeing it at a midnight showing, and after it was over, I felt like I had just watched a 2 1/2 hour preview for Pirates 3. There was no closure, no solid ending. The plot was generally confusing, and the comedy was forced. I have to say, though, the preview worked; I really want to see Pirates 3. Of course, that's for 2 reasons: I want an ending to the story, and I want to see Disney make up for the failure that was Dead Man's Chest.

Rent it and watch it twice. Don't spend your money on what is essentially a preview for the next movie.

I would say that this was the best movie of the summer, maybe even best of the year. i loved it.

They just keep outdoing themselves!! These movies are amazing!! I can't believe that Elizabeth likes Jack ( notice that the compass always pointed towards him, they were friendly... go back and look for stuff like that and it'll become blaringly obvious.) A MUST have for any movie fan!!!

Here's why:

Johnny Depp's First sequel ever, returning cast, crew, and producers. The movie is extremely entertaining with laughter, romance, and of course violence. Not a good movie for children under the age of 12 years old. One thing that makes the movie hard to rate is that the actors are having to compete with such amazing graphics, and special effects. At times it seems Orlando Bloom is trying to hard to act. Above all a very good movie.

This is THE best movie I have ever seen!!! I personally thought it was better than the first. What made it so good was probably the ending!!! I can't wait for it to come out!!!! PIRATES FOREVER!!!!!

In my humble opinion, DMC was better than COTBP in many ways. Don't get me wrong, Curse of the Black Pearl is one of my all-time favourite movies, but even I had to admit that the second one was simply amazing. Many people that have voted or posted their comments have said that Dead Man's Chest was comparable to Empire Strikes back (a sentiment I thought of as soon as I left the cinema), when others have said Matrix Reloaded would be a more apt comparison. I believe that the people who agree with the latter must remember that the first made the impression on all of us because everybody was surprised that COTBP, a movie based on a theme park ride, would obtain the phenomenal success that it did, and therefore had a lasting effect on us.

Despite DMC's arguably more pointless (less relevant to the story) beginning, I think everyone that watched the movie can agree that the middle and ending of the movie were clearly more exciting, suspenseful and enjoyable than the first. While the first movie had one relatively weak story of cursed aztec gold which was almost completely driven by Johnny Depp's (and to a lesser extent, Geoffery Rush's) unique acting style, and superb special effects which brought the skeletons to life. DMC on the other hand had the same erratic behaviour by Depp, a new villain whose mannerisms and backstory rival, and arguably exceed those of Barbossa, and special effects which personally kept my jaw dropped as soon as the formidable tentacles of Davy Jones first graced the screen. Jack Sparrow's character evolved magnificently in DMC, as did Elizibeth Swann's, who turned from spunky Damsel in Distress to a heroine in her own right, even managing to subdue Jack himself. Will Turner's story of a brave sidekick transformed into a much deeper tale of lost love, a scorned son, and demonstrated Will's ability to think for himself. His relationship with his father 'Bootstrap' Bill was one of the most disturbing and at the same time heart-warming sections of the film, and contributed greatly to Will Turner's purpose in the world of Pirates of the Caribbean, something which before was shrouded in uncertainty.

The movie started with 3 different stories, each character revelling in their personal traumas and their twisted love stories, eventually converging into one astounding amalgam of action, romance, and a phenomenal twist that in my opinion was mirrored only in Empire Strikes Back. If you are skeptical about this comment, and find it hard to believe that a Disney movie based on a theme park ride can be mentioned in the same sentence as the best Star Wars film, but if you look at the meaningful topics that this film covers, and the genius of how they were executed, I am sure that you will agree that Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest is a fantastic piece of cinema which far surpasses it's predecessor.

I liked the first Pirates of the Caribbean film quite a bit. But if you saw the previews to the second, and you were like me, you might have said "Oh No. Don't ruin it, Disney!" But--

Did Disney do dumb?

Thankfully--whew!--the movie wasn't as dumb as the previews! (Yay.) To date, on IMDB, "The Curse of the Black Pearl" (2003) has a User Rating of 8.0 out of 10 stars (99,774 votes). And "Dead Man's Chest" (2006) has 7.3 (47,701 votes).

I thought the animation was more impressive this time around, but there was more dumb slapstick and facial expressions than in the first; it was spread out, though, so it didn't completely ruin my enjoyment of the story.

If you really liked the first one, you may also like this sequel. The sequel stands on its own as a story--you don't have to see the first one to understand and appreciate this--but seeing "Pearl" first is suggested.

As the story progresses, a question constantly comes to mind, "What is wrong with that compass Jack is using?" And then, "What IS in that 'dead man's chest'?"

This time the story line had more sadness, death, and violence, even apparent treachery, things that one might expect from a pirate tale, but,

In a preview, Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightly) looks seriously at Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp), a pirate captain, and says "There will come a moment when you have a chance to do the right thing."

Orlando Bloom returns as Will Turner, and Geoffrey Rush as Barbossa.

And then, there's the DEAD Davy Jones (voice of Bill Nighy).

Gosh...this movie is SOOO great! I saw it with my brother and sister and we all loved it! I'd have to say its even better than the first POTC. I love the comedy, the action, the drama; everything about this movie! buy!!

I loved the 1st pirates movie, but this isn't nearly as close as it. The plot is thrown all over the place and is very hard to understand, It strays from the plot and it never really needed to be made. They didn't need to make a sequel. Sure, it has action, adventure, pirates, and big celebrities, But I personally think this movie is not nearly as good as the 1st.

After the first Pirates of the Caribbean movie, this one was a real let down. The plot was lacking and they tried way to hard to duplicate comedy that came naturally in the first one. Any fan of the original Pirates is going to see it, but don't expect the same type of movie. The charactes seem almost like different people than the first movie and lose a good deal of their appeal. I thought it was decent, but it definetly did not live up to expectations and was an ultimate "connector" movie, merely setting up for the third movie.

This was a very well thought out movie and keeps you on the edge of your seat. A must see movie, though you might want to watch the first one to understand properly. This action adventure movie was filled with twisting plots and unexpected turns. Packed with action and a little humor. The special effects I can’t even explain how great they are. I can not wait until the third movie. If you buy this movie, you will not regret it. Simply awesome.

Once again Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom, and Keira Knightly have performed in an outstanding sequel to the 1st pirates movie. This is defianetely the best movie ever. The characters are great and maybe even better than before. The graphics were awesome, especially the Kracken. The plot was fantastic. Jack Sparrow returns to the big screen as a hilarious, cowardly, clever pirate, "That's got to be the best pirate i've ever seen!" This is a phenominal sequel that is a must see again and again and again! I can't wait for the 3rd one!!!!!

This movie is entertaining and solid for fans of the first one. Although there are a few gaps, it will satisfy fans of the first movie. The original actors from the first film return for a acceptable performance, with Depp being the best. The Davy Jones CGI figuire is impressive and very realistic. Overall I found this blockbuster quite entertaining(although it is lengthy)

Pirates 2 is another really cool, fun film however the plot kinda gets thrown out the window, not that that really matters. I would say that first one was better just because... well it was the first and not a sequel.

Curse of the Black Pearl is a AWSOME movie but Dead Man's Chest takes things up a notch, or two. :) It is full of action and and excitment! It is worth every last penny!!!

Pirates of the Caribbean is an amazing movie. The movie is filled with so much action and adventure that you really feel into it. Great visual and special affects. You'll really want to see this movie. The end really makes you need to see the next one and builds up excitment.

In this exciting adventure, the viscious kracken, and the evil Davy Jones, try to bring Jack down. THIS MOVIE ROXX!!!!!!!!!!! If you agree, say that it was helpful. And I sure hope that you do.

I don't want to spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen it yet, so I'll tell you this one little thing to give you some context. It's a HORRIBLE movie. The structure of the movie, as far as I can tell, is they loaded up four or five different screenplays in a shotgun and just pulled the trigger and sent out a PA to pick up random words and piece them together and then hand it to the actors.

Everybody was a pirate. Everybody! If you weren't a pirate in the first movie you were a pirate in this one. It was ridiculous. Some of them were fish pirates, some of them real pirates, some were half dead, some were full dead, some of them were pretending to be pirates...

The only thing that there were more of than pirates... were PLOT LINES. Everybody gets a plot line. If you're a dog, you get a plot line, if you're a ship you definitely get a plot line. All the ships get a good plot line. The ocean gets a plot line. Sometimes, if you were just a body part, you got a plot line. Like if you were an eye, or a heart, you got a story all to yourself. But they don't finish any of them. They think about it, but then they just keep adding more plot lines. Literally, the last line of the movie is a new plot line. It's like the never ending story, but without the Luck Dragon.

But with all that being said, you should still download it for Kiera Knightly... if you don't know who she is, she's basically a more mannish version of Orlando Bloom.

I found the 2nd installment of the Pirate series to have more plot depth and more overall entertainment value than the original - although, much of it has to do with Johnny Depp as a pirate doing his best Keith Richards impression. I was disapointed in the ending, which is a hook for the third installment, and you can easily envision what the plot will entail for the third (and final?) movie.

This movie is better than the first one. Much more effects, longer, and really pushing the envelope on large scale production. This movie has made a billion dollars worldwide and could become the best selling movie ever. Some people didn't like the ending, felt it was abrupt. But it's the second installment. I say it leaves you wanting more so you can be sure to watch the third and final chapter, and what's wrong with that?. For those of you that need closure, you'll get it at the real end.
