Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl is an absolutly exceptional movie. First of all, its plotline is intriguing like no other. There's action in the amazing fight sequences, humor in Capt. Jack's quirks and quips, and a passionate romance between Will and Elizabeth. Instead of being easily classified into a certain genre, POTC embodies many, and exemplifys each exquisitly. Also, the characters don't make stupid mistakes to move the plot along. They do what any human would do in their situation. The plot flows all on it's own.
Second, the actors are completely and totally amazing. Johnny Depp does an excellent job as Capt. Jack. I believe he couldn't have swayed and slurred better if he actually had been drunk. He does a perfect job becoming the character, not just acting like him. And, he is gorgeous to boot. The supporting actors/actress are astounding as well. They each bring their own important aspect to the movie, such as Barbossa's villianry, Will's bravery, and Elizabeth's quick thinking.
Third, POTC has a fantastic score. The music evokes emotion unlike any other score I've heard. It's imaginative, creative, and extremely well-written. It fits perfectly with the movie, and the time period POTC is set in. It pushes the movie from great to exceptional.
Finally, POTC is amazing because you can watch it over and over again. It never becomes tiresome or boring. Every time, you sit on the edge of your seat, waiting for what comes next. Believe me, I know from experience. See, the thing about POTC is, you find something new every time you watch it. It just never gets old.
I would recommend POTC to anyone, of any age. It is easily the best movie of all time.
Now, bring me that horizon.
