This film is completely overhyped. There’s nothing really there with a lack of substance and depth. Overrated for sure, although the flying scene’s were incredible. They did do a good job of replicating the feel of a mediocre 1980’s movie, but that is all. Thank goodness this and Elvis didn’t get any major Oscars. That would’ve taken cinema down a dark road.

Movie done right. A movie that I want my kids to watch and they can pass it on to their kids.

Definite a classic and an iconic film. A must buy. Something you should have in your personal collection.

Perfect follow up to the original. If you liked the original you will love the sequel.

I loved the original from 1986 and I thoroughly enjoyed and loved this sequel to the first. I wish more of the original characters could have been in this movie; however, the story line was fantastic.

Who is with me, when I say that it’s possible to do yet another sequel of Top Gun with Tom Cruise coming out of retirement to once again grace the military skies with a new aviation based movie. No cheese of course! Just another well done sequel to keep it all going!

I’m a pilot so one must take that into consideration. The story line is excellent. If you liked the first Top Gun, you will love this next version 100%. A+ for pure entertainment value.

I was so amazed when I saw this movie for the first time, I saw it 3 more times after that

Ultra stupid movie. He climbs out a window when his GF's daughter gets home. His motorcycle is parked out front. They have a grand plan and we're told it includes two miracles to work. That's not a plan. That's how a meth-adict does things, and always fails. And (spoiler alert) two pilots get shot down behind enemy lines in the forested mountains, find each other in 90-seconds, both uninjured, uncpatured, and undead. How do they escape? They just go get another plane. It's nothing really. Bullet Train is way better, knows it's just silly fun, and it's even unintentionally slightly more plausible.

These adult pilots act and hold grudges like it’s jr high school. Old storylines for kids who didn’t see this when the original came out. I haven’t seen the end but can already tell Maverick will either save the life of Goose’s son or sacrifice himself to save him, which would make him square with Goose son. We could launch a thousand tomahawk middles that would overwhelm the air defense against this ‘’ unknown’’ enemy country( laughable). Must be a lot of young kids liking this movie or old adults who love nostalgia of the 80s. They just do happen to have a f-15 plane…fully filled sitting there. Too convenient/easy

I'm not sure this was worth $5.99. Hard to tell which was worse... the acting, the script, or just the acting and the script. I think Tom Cruise is made of plastic and his "acting" if you can call it that is embarrassing. I felt so bad for Jennifer Connelly having to kiss a mannequin. And what''s with that body and face of his? Sponsored by Monsanto methinks. Awful awful awful. Pray for cleansing fire.

The hype machine has convinced everyone this is the greatest movie of all time. It is a fun action movie with some impressive stunts…

So far so good but nothing special.

The movie is straightforward with a simple storyline; nothing groundbreaking, yet a solid sequel worth watching. The cast gives a quality performance. Definitely enjoyable as long as you aren’t a mindless critic that wastes time nitpicking.

I really went into this skeptical that all the hype would be worth the watch. I had a chance to stream it free on the network app with the fancy bird as its mascot ;)

I was actually shocked that I liked this movie so much. I will say this next part and probably get judged by you quietly in your heads: I hated the original Top Gun. Yeah, I said it. Absolutely never could sit still long enough to even finish the movie. I felt the film was undeserving of the fanatical following and quoting of that movie. That being said, this movie is the one I would recommend for those who maybe felt the same about the original as I, whether you tried to watch or not- just ignore it and watch this one. It will literally fill you in on what you need to know going into this film through little bits hear and there in this movie. Even the really quotable line from the original… you heard the line. We all heard it before many times. The fun backstory on the secret experimental jet in the beginning is that they had to build a full scale replica at the airfield, mock-up only, made of wood and paint. Foreign governments were trying to retask satellites to get a glimpse of it. Because in the film world, if you practical effects look so good people want to steal it, replicate it, or actually see it as a threat to National security- then you know you did your job well and wish it had more screen time.

The movie overall is a good pace. It never felt like it dragged on too far when they were on the ground not doing pilot stuff. The action in the air is so good. It is so realistic and drops you into the cockpit. The freakin’ views are amazing, especially running through the start of the main mission. I am not a fan of Tom Cruise as much as I am a fan of the movies he happens to be in with other actors, but this is a pretty good movie with him in it and the cast, new and returning, was well picked.

Action, drama, romance, nostalgia, and the best aerial sequences ever seen on a modern military jet fighter, bar none to date. Excellent. Sure there are technical mistakes that aviators can see, but over all, BZ guys…

This was a decent movie, that’s it. The first top gun,however, was on another level. The weakness here was the story and casting. The flying scenes were awesome. The score was there. The movie looked great visually. Tom Cruise himself as good. But holy cow is this is over-hyped. There are too many positive reviews. Did the scientology army help? Smells fishy with all the hype surrounding this. This movie IS NOT what is all hyped up to be, period.

Great movie, better than the original to me. Great music and acting. What better could you ask for.

Congratulations, first time since Alvin and the chipmunks I have seen a movie with a sequel as good as this one. I’m very critical of movies that get to corny or are predictable but this one passes with flying colors (No pun intended). You will really get a taste of all the emotions in this one, and does not dwell on one for too long or characterize it into oblivion. Truly a job well done and (don’t tell Apple) I would’ve spent more for the experience not that 6 bucks is cheep for a renting. I hope you enjoy it as much at I did, no matter what your views on politics these days you’ll be tearing up and bleeding red white and blue until you go for your next Twitter hit :). Wow, what a fantastic movie 5 STARS. Nomally I don't care much for extras but the extras that came with the movie are the best that I have ever seen. 5 STARS. The supporting actors in the movie had to go thru the toughest training I have ever seen and it 2nd place ain't even close.

I love the movie seen it 6 times in the theater. But Paramount is playing games with the digital release I saw it say expected August 23rd now it was changed to nothing. Same thing happen on another streaming site. There are still a lot people hesitant to go to the theater cause of Covid should just release it already.

The best movie that I have seen in years!

Finally, after many many years, a movie like they used to make. No agenda, no woke stuff, just a cinematic blockbuster experience with a fantastic soundtrack to complement. The only issue I had when watching this in cinema is some dust that got in my eyes towards the end and made them all watery😉 Both times.😎

Tom Cruise slid back into Maverick very well. Miles Teller made an excellent version of Goose’s son. This was an excellent sequel, which I normally don’t like. Action packed, emotional, and nostalgic. Maverick made it cool to wear a white under shirt and it’s been my style since the first movie. Loved the first, I know all the lines, the second one, I love just as much. See it on I max if u get the chance.

Tom Cruise and Miles Teller make a fantastic pair in Maverick! Dare I say that I liked this movie better than the original?! My husband and I watched it at the theater for the second time tonight and both enjoyed it even more than we did the first time. DO NOT HESITATE to purchase! The best way to sum up this film is its a two hour love affair with aviation and with America. Not a dang thing I would change about it. Just saw it tonight for the third time, packed theater on Fathers Day, and honestly it was better than the first two times we watched it. Yes, it’s that good. I've seen this movie once on IMAX. Top Gun Maverick was amazing!! Everything from the flying sequences, the drama, the humor. With I might add, NO POLITICAL AGENDA the way it's intended to be. A real patriotic movie!

This movie was so good I loved it

My 13 year old daughter was so irritated when I said we were going the first time… she said there was NOTHING in the movie that was of interest to her and she didn’t know who any actors were (because no one other than Tom Holland counts).

After the movie, we didn’t even make it to the theater lobby before she offered up her thoughts… “it’s my second favorite movie of all time”.

My 10 year old son loves army stuff anyway, so that was an easy sell for him.

I was blown away at the quality of stunts the actors did themselves (ps— it’s worth watching the behind the scenes trailer they did, explaining how they approached filming), how great the soundtrack was, how well they tied in the original movie, how well they showcased our military, how amazing they did at emotionally engaging the audience (almost the entire 130+ minutes), how intense the action was and the overall writing.

I don’t really spend time writing movie reviews, especially for sequels, but this is the rare exception that’s worth seeing… and seeing in the theater… and sharing with a younger generation (if you can). It was really cool when my kids begged to go back and see it a second time in less than a week.

Worth the money, and it’s definitely one of those movies that will continue to leave a lasting impression, just like the 1st one did back in 1985.

No woke stuff, no hidden agendas, just a great movie reminiscent of how movies used to be.

I saw the movie at a theatre in a Dolby experience, I understand why Tom Cruise says to see it this way... AWESOME is an understatement. I loved the references to the original and the scene with Iceman is just as you would expect from 2 men as brothers from a different mother. I highly reccomend and hope that there might be a 3rd, but let's not wait another 36 years!
