"Stillwater" was a captivating story, but also a bit of an emotional sucker-punch.

The acting was excellent and convincing (especially Matt Damon, but others gave solid performances as well), which made me emotionally invested in the characters. So it was difficult at times to watch Bill make bad choices that I knew would end up hurting either himself or others.

If you're looking for a suspenseful story, you'll get it. If you're hoping for a happy ending for everyone involved, this is not the film for you.

Finally movie where it is not only black and white but also shades of grey.

I’m seeing a lot of negative reviews but I really liked this film. 4 stars bec I hate the unnecessary political agenda but the story was great.

This is absolutely a riveting story, told exceptionally well. I never lost interest. I think it is not only believable, but honest to the core. Any father who won’t give up on his daughter would enjoy this film.

I am sory that I wasted my time and money. Sorely disappopinted!

The acting was brilliant. The movie and story was bland, very vanilla. Great cast, horrible script. The rewatch value is a 0. If this is your last choice for entertainment then I’d probably suggest just going to bed.

It was rather boring and slow, but worth watching one time. I do not think I would ever watch it again though. It is one of those watch-once-and-forget movies in my opinion. I honestly think it is one that you should wait until it streams for either .99 cents or free. Not really worth more in terms of rental cost. I really expected much more given the cast, but it fell short. Sorry, I was really hoping this one was going to be great and my review would have reflected its greatness, but it is just not a great movie in any regard.

Overall not what I had in mind for the movie with just watching the preview.

Was a great show but could have left the bad language out of the movie. I don’t like all of the bad words. But I learned a few different things that I did not know before, and now I do. We are all learning a bunch of new different kind of things that we have never knew before. I think that dad did the best things for his daughter just to help her out.

But it’s not worth renting for 20$

Damon gives an incredible performance. Well written and highly produced by Tom McCarthy. Easily the best movie of 2021.

A real stinker of a movie. The trailer shows the best parts. Boring story and boring characters.

When an actor who I have loved in many films, it makes me wonder. This is Matt Damon sleep walking. A slow and uneventfull script. Supporting actors offer no support. I watched the whole thing and my wife and I looked at each other and said: "Why did we waste our time." You keep waiting for something significant to happen but it never does. A boring melodrama.

Terrible, incomplete story line, slow moving

Damon is excellent and most of the other actors are too. The story leaves out some important details like how did the police know where to find the accused killer?? Pretty sad but honest I guess

It’s entertaining but it’s one of those movies I wouldn’t own. Wait till it’s on a streaming service you’re subscribed to.

Tad slow at times but some of Damon’s finest acting.

I loved Stillwater. I was expecting a Liam Neeson kind of revenge movie but Stillwater is more and deeper then that… Stillwater simmers with danger while we get to to know the intricacies of our characters. Matt Damons performance conveyed a character deeper then the sum of his words and the writing never went “Hollywood” - his personal growth and experience was slow, incremental and at times painful. The performances were moving and Lilou Siauvaud

gave one of the best child performances I’ve ever seen. The most impressive thing about Stillwater is the writer didn’t choose to make the cultural differences “cute” or Bill transform into someone completely different - instead Bill stayed in character and the drama was always believable and captivating. Thumbs up!

😐I don’t understand the hate from people without seeing it first and I’m tired it. I mean it was a very well done film felt a little stretched out but not by much. Matt was for sure a fantastic actor in this. And love the little girl and Matt’s character the most.

Story makes no sense. Characters totally unappealing. Makes Americans look like stupid Hicks. Includes negative comment about Trump. Makes French look like Liberal American Elite. Hollywood has gone into the toilet. Acting has turned into who can put the most weight on and has the best workout routine. Pure crap. Save your money.

I enjoyed the show, storyline could have been better, Matt Damon played well, so did the French family...but expected a little more depth from the characters especially the daughter who was not the victim in the end.

A solid movie that feels like a novel.

A bit of virtue signaling here and there, certain to trigger the lace-panty crowd of leftists… but the real-world conundrum of a father trying to free his daughter. Leftists would no doubt prefer someone lose their life in jail than see justice done.

I suppose with the COVID-19 everyone these days are really trying to score big. Matt is an exceptional actor and the movie had heart filled moments which transpires between A Father and Children, but this movie was an all time low. Reminded me of that movie when the Airmen were on that train a Clint Eastwood movie again great names has plot but sloweee.

If you like good movies like the Departed, or the Bourne series, or Good Will Hunting then you won’t like this movie. I love Matt Damon movies but this movie was not good at all. Terrible cast and the story might be the cure for insomnia. Good night.
