As a die-hard Marvel fan, I am almost never dissapointed by the incredible content Feige and the Marvel Studios team continues to put out. And as always, this movie absolutely blew me away. Holland continues to shine as what I'd argue to be the best Spider-Man to date. He is funny, awkward, charasmatic, trusting, and incredibly true to the character in itself. Tom embodies Peter Parker in a way no other Spider-Man has ever been able to do, embodieng Parkers youth and innocence and bringing an immense amount of depth to the character. In Far From Home, as Parker steps up as Spiderman and has to deal with the emotional consequences Mr. Starks death brings, Tom's multi-layered and incredibly well-done character is further deepened by the emotional chaos the character has been through. Tom is able to convey emotion like no Spider-Man before him, and the emotional payoff as he embodies his emotional turmoil whilst staying true to himself is incredible. Jake Gyllenhaal shines as Mysterio, bringing life to an iconic Spider-Man villain in a way I doubt anyone really expected. Gyllenhaal shines as the villain. His first-act performance is impeccable as he paints the picture of an alternate dimension warrior who has taken it uponst himself to safe this Earth from the horror that is the Elementals. Jake is so convincing as Mysterio, I was almost willing to forget my knowledge on the character and believe he wasn't the villain in the story, but at the halfway point in the movie, aided by some brilliant plot structure, Gyllenhaal delivers what is probably one of the best executed twists in cinema history as he paints the story of a group of Stark employees who were shunned by Tony, hiding in the MCU and slowly plotting the demise of Starks empire. For the rest of the movie, Gyllenhaal breaks out even more, drawing from the comics version of Mysterio as he shows us why he thinks deserves to be the hero the world needs, and we understand why he is one of Spider-Mans best villains. Zendaya shines as MJ, her snarky humor, sarcasm, and her eventually opening up emotionally to Parker gives the movie a deeper emotional note and makes the payoff even better. Jacob Batalons Ned continues to work as a comedic balancer in the film, this time aided by the brilliant Angourie Rice, playing Betty Brandt. Peter's classmates give the film a rich comedic background and this group of classmates also boasts one of the most naturally diverse groups we've seen in the MCU. Samuel L. Jackson and Cobie Smulders work perfectly as always in the film, this time switching up their incredible portrayal of their characters to make way for the incredible twist shown in the post-credits scenes. All in all, this films cast is one of the many reasons why this movie is so incredible. On top of that, the film boasts a number of masterfully executed twists and turns, orchestrated perfectly by director Jon Watts. The plot structure is essentially perfect, and the use of CGI and visual effects is mind bending and chill inducing. The emotional arc of this movie is incredble, and every aspect of the movie is executed perfectly. All in all, I would wager that Far From Home is the best Spider-Man movie to date, with the best cast, best plot, best twists, and the best post-credits scenes ever recorded in cinematic history.
