This is the most visually unique movie I have ever seen, period. The design and animation have to be seen to be believed, there are no words to describe it. Probably because it's literally like nothing we've ever seen before. The creative team managed to bring art to life, seamlessly integrating elements of comic book art into the world of the film, and the aesthetic is unlike anything I've ever seen.
Besides that, it is both funny and heartfelt. Both the humorous and emotional moments land, and it makes for an amazing overall experience. The characters are so easy to get invested in and root for. They're a really fun ensemble to watch.
The movie's simple and even cliche message lands with surprising effectiveness. I was left feeling so inspired and full of life.
The movie is filled to the brim with action, adventure, and inter-dimensional spider-person shenanegains, but it makes room for the smaller, simpler, emotional moments, and that makes this film a special experience.
It's true that it wasn't completely perfect. I can imagine how someone would think it feels rushed, and the main villain wasn't developed to the point he could have been. But, seriously, the flaws absolutely pale in comparison to everything the film does right.
It is a love letter to comic fans and the art of comic books, but is just as enjoyable to someone who has never picked up a comic book. Although it is a version of Spider-Man unlike any other that has been on screen, it captures the heart and essence of Spider-Man perfectly. It is quite possibly my favorite Spider-Man movie. I highly recommend it.
