This enjoyable tale was memorizing with the music, choreography, artistic setups, makeup, props, etc. The Town scenes were quaint and beautiful. The sharp contrast from greenery, warm weather to frigid, cold, dark castle was excellent. The actors and actresses were lovely and fit their part very well. Thank you for making this movie one that fits the Disney profile as an excellent family movie!

I liked a lot of this movie. What didn't work for me was Belle's acting seemed like she was trying hard not to express very much. It just wasn't very believable because it felt like she held back a lot. And her voice was very limited ability-wise. She couldn't do much with it, and it was insanely auto-tuned. Her voice was so processed, it was extremely distracting. Very amateurish singing. I was disappointed by the casting of Belle.

I went into this wanting to hate it, even though I'm a sincere fan of Emma Watson and even moreso of Emma Thompson, Ian McKellan, Ewan McGregor, and on and on. But I grew up with the Disney Classics and Beauty and the Beast was a favorite of mine. We've all heard the line about how Walt Diney vowed he'd never do sequels, and to be sure, not many of the ones Disney has done came out anywhere near decent or close to the original, so I cringed when I heard about the remake.
And all of that being said, I was enchanted. This was an excellent execution, with many flashbacks to my favorite parts of the Disney original, but live and there was just this sense of 'more' to it all. I thought it utterly poignant to bring Celine Dion back to sing during the credits, loving that further connection so many of us would recognize from growing up during the 90's.
All in all, I had to give this 5 stars and while I truly hope and believe that Disney should start investigating new, original stoylines that have not been made into large scale productions, like The Firebird, Baba Yaga, The Nightingale, I very much enjoyed this new adaptation of Beauty and the Beast.

The cast threw EVERYTHING off about a mile:
Belle: 4/10 Emma Watson's singing is awful and acting is bad.
Beast: 8/10 Dan Stevens' singing was good, acting rather cringey
Lumiere: 10/10 Ewan McGregors's singing/acting was superb!
Cogsworth: 9/10 Ian Mckellan did good! But he was so OLD
Mrs. Potts: 2/10 Emma Thompson did not impress with singing or acting
Chip: 8/10 the kid who played Chip was very young. I wasn't partial to his acting, but for a little guy he did well.
Madame DaLagrandeBouche: 10/10 her singing was phenomanal
Maestro: 10/10 another whole performance from Stanley Tucci. His voice will suprise you
Babette: 8/10 pretty good
Gaston: 10/10 the movie is worth seeing just to watch Luke Evans as Gaston. Just do it; you will not regret.
Lafou: 9/10 Josh Gad was funny, but his charcter was, well. . . you probaly know what I'm talking about. If not, good for you.
Maurice: 10/10 Kevin Kline satisfied
*You may have noticed i was most critical on the singing. Well, I have a trained ear, so. . .

I kept waiting for it to get good. Never did. Emma Watson was absolutely the worst casting. She just seemed so lifeless, dark circles around her eyes, no energy, just no spark, no charm, nothing to make you believe. My wife and I were completely dumbfounded..
The trailer though is sensational.

Is this a horrible film? No--it is okay. Basically they added live-action to beloved source material and there you have it. One expects high budget cinematography and high production values and check check the movie fulfills Disney's bullet points. The acting is okay, I think it was intentional to aim toward a cartoon style of acting, but my reaction was that I found it fake and difficult to suspend unbelief. I loved Branaugh's Cinderella which played the characters straight up as if it were a real period drama. I don't think this rendition of Beauty and the Beast offers an ounce of value over the original product. It is basically a nostalgia fest for parents who loved the original that can now take their daughters to the 2017 version and feel the recycled magic one more time.

While it's true that there are flaws (some of which are enough to lower the immersion into this fantasy-France), the splendid parts are more than enough to make up for them. It has aspects that I found to be better than they were in the original animated film, the new additions to the score being one of them. It's a film that's been done well enough to allow it to stand on its own feet alongside the original.
Overall, I found it to be wonderful and will absolutely count it as one of my favorite live action remakes made thus far.

Beauty and the Beast is my all time favorite movie since it came out. The live animation is out standing. This movie had me in tears by the end. Dan Stevens, who played the beast was the perfect actor for this part. My new favorite song is "Evermore", which he sang towards the end . Belle has been my favorite Disney princess growing up so naturally, I was super excited for it to come out in theaters. I was literally counting down the days until Beauty and the Beast came out on dvd and blue ray. All of my friends think I am crazy because I am OBSESSED with beauty and the beast. I totally recommend this movie. Emma Watson is the perfect actor for the roll of Bell. Seeing her in all of the Harry Potter movies and then seeing her singing in this was kind of weird. She has a ok voice but they made it sound really good for the part with auto tune. Buy this movie and I promise, you won't regret it.

This movie had some big shoes to fill. And it did it beautifully. Emma Watson is amazing in everything she does. A perfect Belle; no one could have done that role better or more believable. The cast was full of big name performers, which doesn't always make for a good movie. But they pulled it off in this one! Bravo!

I am shocked that so few people see what I see: Emma Watson is a mediocre-to-poor actress. I think viewers are either still giving her credit for the wonderful Harry Potter movies, or they are fans of her politics. The funny thing about her Harry Potter performance is that she got worse as the series progressed. She was cute and energetic when she began, but her acting languished as she got older. To be sure, she is a very attractive woman. However, she is wooden and frequently awkward in her acting as an adult. Her politics are utterly insufferable.

Bill Condon destroyed an Oscarworthy Classic

I had planned on seeing this movie while it was at the cinema decided to rent it instead. Based on what I watched last night, I am glad that I did not waste my money.
First of all, the movie itself was very flat and rather boring with lots of very poor acting, too much and terrible CGI. Condon also got an actress to play a major character who could not otherwise sing withouth digital enhancement. That was a very poor move on Disney being that they have always had better voice actors in the past with singing voices. Just look at Paige O'Hara who voiced Belle in the 1991 classic. I didn't like like the designs for Lumiere and Cogsworth. A. Lumiere was weird looking and Cogsworth was just plain creepy. I did like the designs for Mrs. Potts, Chip, the Waredrobe and Plumette. I also liked the fight scene between Gaston and the Beast as it was accurate to the animation. Finally, I enjoyed the scene with the enchatress acting like a begger who lived on the streets watching everything.
Other things that I disliked
1. Belle's limited wardrobes though I liked what they had her wear. In the animation, she had more outfits to wear
2. The way the objects turned back into humans with remained elements of their object forms. Their human looks were weird too.
3. There were lots of things that Condon changed from the original movie that viewers once loved.

Don't know where to begin. I liked it. I will let my child watch it now that I have watch it first. Was worried the beast would be to scary or the movie to violent or the gay parts not suitable for a youny child. I read someone say Jack black would have been great for Lafou and that is true. Gaston (actor) looked just like the cartoon but he just seem to over the top like he was force himself into the character. And I don't know why the had belle showing her underwear. I mean that is what it was it was not pants under her dress. Womens underwear look like that back then. And I think not sure but if you should that well you wear selling it. Not only that but she takes her dress off at the end of the movie to ride her horse. Just didn't get that I mean she had no problem wearing it going home. The CGI was the hardest to get over it was just ... it was not the best. The beast just did not look real. I couldn't get into the movie because of it. And the actor who play the beast did not look anything like the human. He seem short. And it was only when they like zoom in REALLY close that he look liked him. I kept thinking the actor who played the Gaston should have been the beast. the movie did start to feel more like the cartoon at the last 59 min. And the ending was cute. Did not make me cry like a baby like the cartoon did. I mean if you ask any girl who saw the cartoon as a kid they will ALL say the cry when the beast died. I will most likely rewatch this again later with the hopes that memorys of the cartoon won't mess up the movie. Plus the singing was mmm just ok. The cartoon was better. Oh I really think if they had just put the man playing beast into a real costume then it would have been better. Like with Jason Momoa movie Wolves their costumes were so real looking and just cool. That's what they should have down with the beast not that horrible cgi.

Gaston was not up to parr compared to the hype of the animated movie, should've been a larger man actor. I did like it alright, but not impressed enough to justify the cost of buying it.

Was this version supposed to have been a mash up of the animated classic and the on/off broadway musical? I was waiting o be wowed by Emma Watson and her singing was like watching Abigail Breslin dance in Dirty Dancing.
No I'm not trying hate, I thought Josh Gad and Luke Evans did wonderfully. On second thought was that Josh Gad singing? I thought the extra scenes and table read had Josh Gad sitting it out.
All the back stories were interesting, but as a movie/story the audience was being spoon fed. Overall, it was okay, I should have waited for the sale to buy this movie.
A little hesitant to watch La La Land since that was also hyped.

Don't waste your time or money, folks. Even with the heavy CGI and other special effects, this film is basically a shot-for-shot remake of the animated classic. Even most of the lines are exactly the same, and Emma Watson was dreadfully miscast. My five year-old enjoys it, at least. But in my opinion, this was a beastly desecration of a cinematic masterpiece. Just another CGI-heavy cash cow.

The casting was done very poorly. Beauty isn't beautiful and Gaston isn't handsome and between them is no magic. Disney had a chance to create a classic by casting well known top actors and actresses in cameo roles but instead they have no name people that cannot act. I constantly found myself remembering the animated film and the magic it had in the same scene where there was no magic. Save your time and watch the animated feature again.

I gave it a 4 star instead of 5 because I do feel like they ruined a couple of things. So let me start with the pros: execution of the storyline was perfect (and I've been a HUGE FAN of Beauty and The Beast since I first watched the movie and learned how to read!) the characterization of the Beast was absolutely astonishing! And I disagree with other people who said that The Beast was meant to be attractive. While he was in beast form, he was supposed to be ugly so he could learn his lesson on what it felt to be (what he considered) ugly! Otherwise the enchantress/sorceress might as well have just made him stuck in his castle forever and made the rest of the world forget him but not turn him into the Beast. Another thing is that he was supposed to be kind of dirty and wearing tattered clothing because (as it said) he was starting to give up hope that he would ever find love, so why would he care about his appearance?! I loved how they made the castle "staff" slowly turn back into household objects as you can see it (like when Lumiere says that he can feel his legs slowly turning back into the candle holder and you can hear it all rusty.) I don't think anyone could've done a better job at portraying Belle than Emma Watson did, she got her character spot on!
Now for the cons: I didn't feel like the person who played Gaston did that great a job. I feel like (even though the actor was decently fit) he wasn't the right body type as Gaston (I could see a bit of a pudgier belly.) I think he did a pretty good job at portraying Gaston when Gaston is focused on his own beauty/image and I think he did a wonderful job at portraying the evil Gaston was capable of when he was leaving Maurice out in the woods, but I don't think he quite portrayed his evil the right way in the final battle. I also feel like they were trying too hard to push the fact that LeFou was gay and/or bisexual. I really don't feel like that final scene where Lefou and the other guy are dancing was necessary, I feel like Disney had already made their point and was now pushing it/shoving it down our throats. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against people who are LGBT, I just don't like it being forced on me everywhere I go and in everything I watch (which I feel like is in most things that are produced now days.) The part where LeFou has Gaston's arms wrapped around him was really funny and (I feel) definitely got the point across that LeFou was/is crushing on Gaston, but again, I really don't feel like that dance part with LeFou and the other guy was necessary. If anything, I felt like it stole more attention away from the happy ending of Belle and the Princes's dance than anything else. Again, I have nothing against LGBT, I just don't like it being forced on me in/on everything I enjoy.
I will be buying the movie when it comes out because I'm not going to let one little thing ruin the whole movie for me (especially not when it's one of my all time favorite stories and LITERALLY my favorite Disney princess "possibly even general Disney" movie.)

Wonderful!!!

Here we go before I get into the review I just want to say something I do not hate this movie in anyway I'm just a little disappointedthis is probably one of the most disappointing movies of all time because everybody keeps saying oh how great it is and I wondered about this one really is good as people say it is usually live action remake tend to be really bad like the cat in the hat movie or the Smurf's movie now disappointing doesn't mean worst disciplining me if you have high expectations for a movie but it doesn't turn out as good as you wanted to worst would be if the film is just out right bad the film was just out right bad this on isn't bad also I'm not saying that all live action remake are bad jungle book live action remake wasn't bad The live-action Grinch is a guilty pleasure of mine at least I actually tried with this movie got to say moments that this movie does well it does really well I don't want to name any moments because would be here for a bit longer than I expected and also just before you move on and longer I'd like to say that this is all my personal opinion and I can definitely see why someone we would like this film and to be fair there is nothing angry losing about it except for a few P jokes here and there it's completely harmlessbut I feel like it's way too cliché I don't know about you but I can predict everything the characters were going to do before they even do it when my biggest problems with the film is the acto thay chows for bell i'm sure that the actor is a really nice person but the voice just doesn't match and neither does the person so the actor is still good just not good for thiso if actor who plays bell by any chance reading this review don't take it personally OK this is why I might start to get people a little angry but the singing drives me insane I'm sorry but it really just doesn't work because there's really well just not singing the right notes so it just becomes like more annoying then I have to highlight was the actor for mufoo by the way I don't know any of these actors names so I'm just gonna refer to them as the actors for the actors and there's all a lot of filler like the beginning part where they're all dancing didn't need to be there so why do you need narration even if you don't watch the original animated version you've probably heard the fate fairytale so you probably already know what the base plot but I at least th tried with this movie and I can't hate it but I don't really recommend it to any body especially if you've already seen th original animated one even if you do really like the live action version you can't deny that the animated version is better I want to know many people agree with me like 2.9% of people most likely agree with me how far off was Ithanks for listening to this review hopefully you're not too mad at me but I hope you respect my opinion because if you respect mine I will definitely respect yours so let's all be friends down in the comments OK "SIGH"

Well... I didn't expect this movie to be mixed. It was ok, not the best but ok. The animated version is better

This remake was horrible!!! The acting was as amateur as Twilight. There were several moments where I just had to laugh because the acting was so cringeworthy! And the singing was atrocious! Where was Simon Cowell when you needed him?
On paper the cast looked and sounded like it would be so perfect and then to finally see it play out on screen was a major let down.
Also I was greatly disturbed by the misuse of CGI in this movie. I mean, Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones, whose studios provide(d) a far less budget managed to make their material look way more realistic than this mess. Disney had no excuse.
They tried so hard to make this movie like the cartoon that they sabotaged themselves.
Just a complete waste of my money and time.
But whatever there will be fans out there who will turn a blind eye and like it just because.

Awesome

If you've seen the animated movie and the Broadway show, this is something in between. It isn't perfect, but it is sumptuous and well done.

I had some fears when it came to this movie, one being that it would be cheesy or that the casting would not live up to the original characters. Overall, I think they pretty much nailed it with all the characters and they all did a wonderful job of impersonating their character. The movie pretty much stuck to the original, but I loved that they included some twists to the plot and some new songs. I wasn't blown away with this movie, but the special effects were dazzling to look at and I enjoyed reliving a Disney classic.

It was great.

Beauty and the Beast is my all time favorite animated movie. I did enjoy watching this remake of it. I loved so much of the information that was added to the storyline.
The only flaw for me is I've always thought Belle was the most beautiful Disney princess, and the prince was the most handsome prince and while Emma Watson is beautiful I was kinda hoping for gorgeous, and it didn't help that I was waiting for Harry Potter to pop out. And the prince...well he wasn't gorgeous either, he wasn't even cute. I don't mean to be so judgement, but when you grow up with a classic you kind of expect all of the beauty to be included with its remake. But that's just me. I will purchase this movie, but I will be watching the animated movie more than this remake.

Last night, I went to go see one of my all-time favorite animated movies be transformed into live-action. Did it live up to my expectations? Was it as good as the original? The following is my review on the movie…
MOVIE REVIEW: Having just achieved the single best year for any studio in history, Disney looks to continue its remarkable run in 2017. This year Disney starts with one if it’s heaviest hitters of all time — Beauty and the Beast.
This “Tale as old as time” is a gorgeous, entertaining story which will make you believe fairy tales actually exist. Disney basically took all the original beats from the kids 1991 animated classic but retold it with all the detail, emotions and realism of a story for adults…and it works.
Emma Watson is the perfect Belle! Her acting is spot on and her singing, while somewhat auto-tuned, worked wonderfully for her character. Dan Stevens’s Beast was visually stunning and had a surprising amount of emotional depth. My absolute Favorite NEW song, (which had me in tears by the end) was “Evermore”, which Dan Stevens sang the heck out of. This original song by Alan Menken was a complete showstopper!!
Now one of the GOOD changes they made to this film is Kevin Kline’s Maurice, who truly is a superstar in this film! Both his performance and his character development are superb. While Luke Evans’s Gaston, was a very realistic evil. An EVIL that twists the truth and deceptively sneaks up on you throughout the film. Unfortunately, the more evil Gaston became in this film, the more Josh Gad’s Le Fou (Gaston’s side kick) just didn’t know what to do with himself and ultimately fell flat.
Which brings me to the one thing I really dislike about the film, Le Fou. I would say without a doubt, the underlining reason for so much animosity and bad reviews coming out, is because of the changes they made to Le Fou. Without giving any spoilers away, they changed Le Fou from being the “stupid”, side-kick, bad guy (he originally was in the animated movie)…to now being a scene-stealing, misunderstood good-guy. And unfortunately it just doesn’t work. Also regarding the “CONTROVERSY” surrounding this movie, my friend Meghan said it best: “Beauty and the Beast had me smiling and crying from beginning to end. Don't boycott this for reasons that you've heard from the media because they're simply…exaggerating the truth!”
In summary, Beauty and the Beast transports us back to the beauty of old-time Hollywood. Where lavish sets, big name actors and HUGE musical numbers aren’t frowned upon but cherished. And while it may fall flat and not quite reach the magical heights I’d hoped for, it gets close… VERY close.

Such A Great Movie!!!☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️😉☺️

I saw this movie yesterday and I haven't been able to stop singing the songs or watching the trailers again. It was simply one of the best movies I've ever experienced watching. It really captured me into the movie and made me feel like I was a part of their world. I would recommend this to anyone who's thinking of watching this or has doubts because I thought that I personally would barely love it but boy was I wrong 💖😂😍

They put a lot into this remake - One thing this movie did was remind me how well the animated one was done and how good the music is. I was worried that it would be a re-enactment and annoying, but while they sang the same words in the songs they also added 3 songs or so that were good! And when they sang the old ones they sounded different. They did what I would have done - they made it like the original but they made it different.

Amazing and Beautiful!

I've always loved the cartoon and the story of beauty and the beast. This movie brought it to life and added more songs that I just absolutely love. Emma Watson was beautiful and played Belle amazingly. The Beast was awesome and I enjoyed watching him. I will DEFINITELY be buying this movie when it comes out!

What are these feelings?

I just left the theater from seeing this movie. Before seeing this movie everyone called me cold hearted but after this, everyone was calling me an emotional mess. I cried twice, shook in my seat with anger, and fell in love, all within a 2 hour period. Great movie! I would definitely recommend going to see this movie. I want to be one of the first to buy this movie when it comes out.

From the very beginning, the movie pulls you in so quickly that the entire 2 hours pass by so fast!
This film stayed oh so true to the original 1991 animation, but added some needed depth to the characters and answered many questions of the past. I can safely say Disney finally got a live action remake right!
Of course, the 1991 animation can never be beat, but this is close to becoming almost as good, which is really saying something. The only thing that I feel could've been improved, was the beast's cgi. Up close, he looked great, but from far distances it just turned out unconvincing. If it wasn't for that small bit, I would definitely give a 10/10!
Over all, great movie! And with the controversial "gay moments", they were played purely for laughs, and the people I went to didn't even pick it up! I had to tell them who the gay character was!
Will watch it again, and can't wait for it to come out on Blu-Ray!

Forever My Favorite

Wow. I've seen the movie hundredths of times, and it felt as if I was watching it for the first time. The changes are noticeable and necessary. The songs were beautifully performed, I'm hoping for vinyl release. I highly recommend this film. As for LeFou, yeah he's a gay character AND WHO CARES!? 👏🏼👏🏼👍🏼❤️ way to go Disney. 🇺🇸

Fun retelling. Love both.

It's a fun revisit to the story. It also digs deeper into the characters, which was nice. The changes in the story and the retelling of the story, I like much better in this verison. The animated characters Belle and Beast were actually acted better than the live-action actors, which is a testiment to the animators work. There's a lot to like about this one and a lot to like about the animated one. Get both and enjoy.

Disney outdid itself in nodding to the original '91 classic while making the appropriate/necessary changes to create another version that can stand on its own or with its counterpart. The combining of original songs, nods to Broadway songs, and the original soundtrack helped drive and cement this movie musical in the audience's hearts. If you have any hang ups about this movie because of something you heard in the news or from some small-minded compatriot you are missing the whole overarching theme of both the original and this version. It will definitely be on my To-Buy list.

Loved it!!!!

Beyond what I was expecting. I loved it before seeing the movie. After? It's officially my favorite movie. I've always loved the original. Been my favorite Disney since like birth. This movie was an emotional roller coaster in the best way. Great cast choices! Loved every moment! Definitely one I've felt the need to preorder! Never done that before! :)
