Fifty Shades of Grey......I mean come on! there has to be a reason why this movie was made in the first place because this movie dosen't appeal to men like the main character Christian Grey who is a (not going to say handsome) but is a weathly but rich businessman who Daktoa Johnson's character Annatasia Steel falls in love with him and wants her even more than just love. All iam saying is that i didn't enjoy this movie not because of the abusive or sexual content that disturbed me it's because of the terrible chimestry these two main characters are and there are also other characters that serve no interse in the plot. This film isn't sexy or maybe if your a girl or a woman you will enjoy this movie because you guys and gals read the book you know what it's like to live the fantasy of a happy relationship. But when men watch it they think this movie is too smart for them or it's too cliche, dumb and overall it dosen't contain that sour feel from my favorite romantic movies like (Shaun of the Dead, Her, Scott Pilgrim, A Star is Born and Titanic) all of those movies work because they have good directors and they have characters and they have chimestry and overall it works out fine. But Fifty Shades of Grey pissess me off and if woman like it then fine there gonna like it because Christian Grey is hot and handsome but in my opinion watching this has made me discover that relationships is complex and meaningless isn't because a rich werido is going to fall in love with this woman isn't because she is going to love him no matter how much you just have to see this for yourself this is a review by marcelo you pal.

Honestly if I could give this trash less than 1 star I so would. This full baby diaper has absolutely nothing to do with dom and submissive. And everything with rape culture. It’s a dumpster fire at a Nickleback concert. Watch The Secretary instead, soooo much better.

I loved Jaime Dornan in The Fall so I finally decided to see what all the hype was about by first downloading a sample of the book. I was a little surprised by how clunky, adolescent and unbelievable the dialog was and how shallow the characters are so I didn't bother buying the rest of the book. I decided to "rent" the movie on iTunes just to satisfy my curiosity. I can't jump to the conclusion that this was a bomb. Firstly because it is fiction. It's not supposed to show us a real relationship, let alone a real BDSM relationship. But it has intrigue as a first episode in a series. I can see how viewers may be disappointed by this as a movie. I am going to watch the next two and see if it makes a better miniseries. Don't expect much. This story pales in comparision to Secretary which was a brilliant movie nor does is have the appeal of Bound for it's sensuality. I think it has potential as a quirky, lightweight tale of a left-of-center, fictional relationship but was disappointed in it as a movie. Like a say, it's the first episode in a curious miniseries that alllows the viewer to take a peak into one version of a DOM/SUB relationship. However, Fifty Shades of Grey would need a complete screenplay overhaul to be a called really good movie.

I'm not sure what everyone is so worked up over. It was a MOVIE. I personally thought Dakota Johnson was wonderful. Ten times better than the Ana in the books, whom I found insufferable and immature. Dakota brought a warmth and humor to the character. Jamie Dornan was okay. I found his attempt at hiding his Irish accent distracting. Christian is far from perfect, having gone through the childhood he did, and I think that is sort of the point. Ana helped him grow and mature. I thought it was an entertaining movie and almost like it better than the book (I know. Shocking.) I watched all three movies and liked them all.

Enjoyed it a lot. The premise touches on what happens in the big picture of real life. Women have fantasies. Maybe it this fantasy, but they have them. It’s not just a man’s realm. The acting felt a tad off to me at first, but maybe it’s because the two actors were unfamiliar to me. However, they were quite engaging as the movie went on. I also watched to sequel & plan on watching the third movie as well. 👏👏💙

I couldn’t finish this movie do to what its message is trying to convey. Women are repeatedly abused and controlled by men in society and I feel like movies like this can send the wrong message to women by saying that it’s ok for a man to treat you a certain way because he is “handsome” or “rich” etc... definitely reinforcing that women should tolerate certain behaviors just to have a relationship with a man.

Wonderful...
Five is Not enough stars..
It's the best...
It's not about the BDSM and that being a right thing because it's definitely not or about him being a Billionaire. It's about him being attracted to her enough to not even realize he is in Love with her and wants something besides just the BDSM and he doesn't realize that he is already in Love with her after first meeting her. He realizes how empty his life is because up to the time of meeting her he has not understood the true meaning of love. Because of his past his having a bad Mom who is a crack addict and then cruel stepfather's and beatings and torture then his Mom dies and he has to be in the house alone with her body before anyone finds him at the most tender and fragile of ages. Even when he ends up being adopted he does understand how to Love because he can't let go of his past/childhood & the Elena years. Then worse someone like Elena comes into his life and he was already terribly confused because of his childhood. And then what Elena tried to teach & tell him that BDSM was normal. Once he meets Anastasia he wants to have real Love and he realizes how futile and worthless the BDSM really is. He is beginning to realize You don't treat someone you love in that way. Anastasia teaches him all of this because she teaches him to communicate, how to understand his feelings and deal with his past. And I think she falls In love with him at first site. And then as she finds out more about him instead of being repulsed by his past/background and his being an orphan she just falls in Love with him all the more.
And then she realizes that helping him continue his dysfunctional relationships is not good for either of them especially him so she breaks it off for both of their sakes. I think it is wonderful that they get back together and find the true real meaning of Love..(You have to read it as a romantic would read it and you have to read all of the books. And you have to understand that the BDSM is only a small integral part of the plot to explain how the story begins, evolves and ends.)
Anastasia is ready for love when she meets Christian and once he meets her he realizes that loving her is the most important thing and that sex is a very important integral part of LOVE and that BDSM has no place in really loving someone. (You really see the this in Fifty Shades Darker on the sail boat when he teaches her to sail it and he tells her "He Loves seeing her so happy..That's when both we/he can tell he is truly in Love with her unselfishly..)
Can't wait for the third Movie even though I already know the end from the book. Bravo EL James...Encore, Encore. Wish EL James could continue on further with this book..
I could say more but I will stop..
LIKE I SAID WONDERFUL!!

I was in an abusive relationship. I was assaulted, beaten down psychology, and raped. For over 2 years. I'll be 19 at the end of July 2015. My point is, nothing in this movie triggered me. I know how to separate my life from fiction. Maybe you guys need to figure that out. BDSM is not about violence. It's about fetish, and satisfying your partners needs that vary from the social construct of healthy and loving. This takes a great deal of control. BDSM is COMPLETELY consensual. If you think this movie might trigger you, don't watch it. Simple as that. All my life I've been abused, but not once watching this movie was I 'on edge' or upset. If you're arachnophobic your not going to hold tarantulas. Duh. Same concept. Grow up.

Really though, as long as the guy's rich, sexy, and attractive, it's okay for him to abuse his partner? No, telling me that she gave consent is still not justifiable. Respecting your partner is different from treating her as some rag doll you'd use to satisfy yourself. If people think this is sexy and true love then I'd rather be unattractive and an old senile cat lady.
It's just a movie, yes, but it is also an influence. A big one. Would you be comfortable if your child chooses to partake in an unhealthy relationship such as this? Educate your children to see love as something beautiful and not as something like this.

Ridiculous movie!

There is nothing 'romantic' about this movie. But in today's popular culture it seems moral, ethical, and politically correct because Mr. Grey is a billionaire. What if he was a middle income earner and he did that to his partner? It is a disgusting movie and a promotion of domestic abuse in the highest degree.

I read all 3 books 2 years ago and just recently seen the movie. This has got to be the WORST BOOK TO MOVIE EVER!!!...Most of what is in book 1 is not even in the movie. All the emotional turmoil in understanding Christian is not there....He comes off like a jerk. also, this actor smiles too much....Christian does not...He is suppose to be very serious & dry humored. This is DEFINATLY not a movie I would recommend...It's a waste of money.

I won't rag on the accused abuse and misrepresentation of BDSM, yada yada.
The movie rolls at an incredibly slow pace; I found myself literally with my head in my arms bored out of my mind. For a book supposedly about BDSM, it's a lot more about brooding glances, lifeless conversations, and helicopter/car/jet rides than actual sex. So like a cruddier Twilight minus vamps. Over an hour into the movie and we finally get to the freaking "playroom," just to see some handcuffs and whips being used. We're like 20-30 minutes away from the end of the film at this point.
Overall though, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, yet somehow this apple is WORSE than the tree it came from. It's way too obvious this is an alternate universe Twilight fanfiction, and includes the same flaws in its romantic leads that Stephenie Meyer's do except even more 2D. Christian Grey, whose body and dashing good looks we marvel at every chance we get. Impossibly rich, mysterious, and cold. He plays piano, owns tons of cars, and buys the main character one as well. Twilight. Then of course he's interested in the awkward clumsy girl who isn't special at all to show how special the guy is, a device that allows the author and lonely housewives to easily imagine being in her shoes.
Most people rag on the controversial topics. Done well, I'd probably very much enjoy a BDSM story. the film sucked so much, and I'm sure the book isn't too much better. Remember the meme "Still a better love story than Twilight?" They're going to have to change the meme now.

If you have ever been in an abusive or manipulative relationship, I can promise you everything about this movie will put you on edge. There is nothing "romantic" about how Christian treats her. It's all controlling, possessive, and manipulative. Yes, she signs a contract, but this story poorly shows just how a true bdsm relationship works. It's like Jaws all over again. People will watch this, think this is how men should treat women, and MORE women will be subjected to abusive relationships and think it's okay. It's not.

I have read all 3 books and of course when going into the theaters I was prepared and I knew what to expect. The movie does well with following the book, of course there were a few parts missing but overall I love how the movie captured the relationship. In the book I feel as though it was more based on the kinky sex then the actual story between the two. But in the movie I believe it was the opposite. The movie captured the relationship perfectly and really told the story well. I am a huge feminist and I will fight for equal rights as much as I can but I can safely also say that i enjoyed the movie and the story. Whatever one wants to experience in their own privacy in their bedrooms is there business and no one else. Could the movie be better ? of course there is always room for improvement but it was still very good. People forget that this is a book and is book suppose to be realistic all the time? No I think if one is trying to seek realistically of how this would play out in real life then don’t read any books. Books and stories are a chance to escape, and if I really wanted to be so realistic then I would not search for it in books, I would open my eyes and watch the world play out as it does. Love it or leave this movie was great.

I am a huge fan of the books. I was a little worried about the movie adaptation. Certain scenes in the book are described in graphic detail that I personally do not enjoy so I was not sure about seeing it on screen but I applaud the actors/directors/producers in keeping so close to the book but filming the sex scenes in a tasteful way. Both Dakota & Jamie were perfect choice for these two roles. They portrayed the characters perfectly and had some awesome chemistry which makes it that much better! 5 stars all the way! I get the story. I get the sex ideas. I don't mind any of that. It actually makes for a great story. What I don't get is how you can ruin the movie with the horrible C flick rated acting that's in the movie. It felt like a bad Mexican soap opera. As if every three words they forgot there lines. Almost as if it were a read through rehearsal. Just an awful awful movie. Most people complain about the sex and the morals and blah blah. It's nice to spice it up and get kinky with it. That's not the problem with the movie. It's he acting. Oh lord is it bad. It's like they found the worst actors and actresses in the world Ana said can you fly through this script in 3 months, take your clothes off and we can make a movie. It seemed rushed and repetitive and just not as I expected from the books. Huge let down. The director and casting director should be unemployed come Monday. This movie is a C flick at best.

Dakota Johnson was born to play Anastasia Steel and Jamie Dornan embodies the character of Christian Grey perfectly, with darkness, class, style and grace. The cliffhanger left me speechless and wanting. I want to see as much of Jamie and Dakota as I can, in other projects before they film the next installment, in hopes they evolve more as artist, to bring versatility to these characters in Fifty Shades Darker.

It IS a love story!

This movie was near perfect! Watching Christian and Ana struggle with finding who they are, finding love, grappling with how each is changing and trying to find a way to make the relationship work is the core of this film. Is it hot? Oh yeah! But is that what the movie is about? Not in the least!

Great for bored housewives

The dynamic between the main characters, Christian and Anastasia is perfect. Brought the book to LIFE. Now we have to wait for the actors schedules to free up so they can produce the NEXT TWO BOOKS.

People really shouldn't be getting in over their heads with this movie and the books. The commercialism of this - the soundtrack of love songs - and the Valentine's Day release all give the illusion this is a "love story." It's clearly not. It's all fantasy and to intertwine and weave this sort of film with the "Love Holiday" image is desperate. This is an updated version of Basic Instinct from the 90's. Absolutely nothing about this film is original. It's just a women's erotic genre which hasn't been fully explored and beaten to death such as the genre has been with men. Don't waste your money on this.

Great

Having read the entire trilogy before seeing the movie, I was a bit skeptical of how it would turn out, but I loved it! For the most part, the movie stayed true to the book, except for a few changes but in all, it was satisfyingly good and I am looking forward to the next two movies.

Fun... Loved It!!!
