Description

A super-secret organization recruits an unrefined but promising street kid into the agency's ultra-competitive training program just as a dire global threat emerges from a twisted tech genius. A phenomenal cast, including Colin Firth, Samuel L. Jackson and Michael Caine, lead this action-packed spy-thriller directed by Matthew Vaughn (X-Men: First Class).

Save yourself the time and do not watch this movie. Really good for the first half and becomes unwatchable the second half. Wish I could delete it from my memory. The church scene is awful, and the mother trying to kill her baby girl is disturbing.

This movie was really awesome and has to many good and funny scenes i can't even recall a film so funny and violent but it has to be kingsman. The character development in this film was quinue and interesting but sometimes this film takes it too seriously and ads cliches but it makes sense because Kingsman is a spoof on James Bond movies and spy movies it's like that but the action scenes are cool and highly entertaining to watch.

This movie was horrible. It had potential and then it just became dull, twisted, demented and quite frankly garbage. This movie is nonsensical, I cannot believe anyone would have produced such a film. If I could give it no stars I would. Violent scenes that don’t need be seen. Not even a good spy movie. Im surprised Nicholas Cage isn’t starring in this movie. DO NOT WATCH THIS.

Was shocked me the most was that this movie was recommended to me from another full grown adult with children.
I am tempted to write a lengthy column, sharing my thoughts on this horrible excuse of a film.
If you MUST watch this horrible film, just rent it.

I really, really, REALLY tried to find something good in this disaster of a movie. But besides nice suits and good butt of a princess, nope... Not a single thing.
All actors were horrible... Samuel L Jackson should quit acting completely and focus on his race baiting thing full time. Chick with knife legs was simply cartoonish. Good guys were not better. Harry was just awful character - nothing about him or the whole organization made any sense at all.
I feel really sad that people can see this movie and consider it funny or praise the plot. It really is a downfall of our civilization if we have that many dimwits.

This movie had it all in my opinion. First an unusual plot and characters. The whole movie was a wake up call for spy fans. The movies uniqueness and unexpectedness surprised us all. The plot, with its main villain played by Samuel L Jackson, was new and fresh along with pretty much everyone else in the cast.
Second, the amount of action in it. In my opinion the action in an action movie needs to be new and impressive. In this movie it was. The movie provides action that is sometimes humorous and smart and sometimes impressive and amazing. Third the Style the movie goes by. This movie didn't need to choose a style of movie making they made one by making it a unique, fun filled, action packed movie.

Trash. The limited reviews on Apple TV were totally misleading. What we thought was going to be an entertaining, tongue in cheek British spy flick with well respected actors, turned out to be a weakly contrived screenplay with climaxing in a pandemonium of video game violence. Triggered by the villain, Colin Firth pointlessly slaughters a congregation of West Baptist-like parishioners with video style acrobatics and gore. This was followed by a mass genocide of exploding heads synchronized to Pomp and Circumstance. Colin Firth, Michael Cain and Samuel Jackson were whoring for this one. I’ll think twice before I watch one of their movies again.

We made it to church massacre scene and that’s it. The movie makers smuggled in a plot device to allow them to gleefully murder an exaggerated “Christian” church full of homophobic racist whites in the south that pray to the “Lord” and don’t like abortion. It’s another wrong Hollywood distortion of Christians and is total left turn compared to the preceding movie. There’s no explanation for all positive reviews other than idealogical agreement or love of watching people being sliced up, sliced in half, stabbed, beaten. Because it’s not fun. The only thing they succeeded in is deceptively marketing it as fun. What a lie.

First, the movie is very cheesy and is the poorest acting I have ever seen from Samuel L. Jackson. It was a violent version of Austin Powers. Because I payed for it, I stuck through it and was sickened by the ending. After not having anything sexual throughout, it ends with a naked women’s rear end as the main character gets ready to have anal intercourse with her. Absolutely disgusting. What a terrible movie, Colin Firth, not only lost me in the church attack scene, but the whole thing was badly conceived, a colossal waste of talent, and makes me question Mr. Firth's decision to appear in such a piece of trash. There were some mildly entertaining bits in the beginning with gadgetry, ala Bond films, but overall ,such a woeful disgrace , that the "stars" that were in it, have all gone down several notches in my opinion.

I enjoyed MOST of this movie until the disastrously sexist "joke" at the end, but the more I thought about it later, the more distasteful I found the whole film. To describe all the moments of hypocrisy would require a bunch of spoilers, so I will just summarize by saying that the movie has no integrity and wastes its potential with some gratuitous scenes and contradictions of its own "philosophy" of what it means to be a gentleman. It could have been so much better but it has no heart.

What a complete disappointment! Why does Hollywood feel it needs to keep jamming global warming down my throat?! I just want to be entertained, not brainwashed. In addition to the heavy handed message, Samuel L. Jackson's character was just about the most asinine ever created. Every scene he was in did nothing but irritate me. The gratuitous violence didn't help, as it added nothing to the story and was way over the top. So many wasted actors...it's a shame. I had such high hopes for this movie and was so let down!

Wow. The movie just ended, and my head is spinning at how bad it was, on many levels. As a farce of spy movies or a tongue-in-cheek comedy, it is lame. As an action movie, it is poorly paced and with prolonged but stunning boring fight scenes. And the gratuitous violence is, well, simply gratuitous, serving no purpose whatsoever, other than pushing the movie over the top — or more to the point, over the cliff. And what a waste of talent. These are good actors, with so little to do with their talent. A huge disappointment.

Total waste of a great cast, Firth, SLJ, Marks Strong and Hamill, and Michael Caine. Hamill and SLJ should have swapped roles, Hamill has built a reputation as a top animation voice actor and was underused in this movie. It was basically a SLJ fashion show every other scene. He needed a Nehru jacket and an Ike Turner wig. The violence and profanity were a total missed opportunity as an often successful comedy vehicle in such Brit-flicks. (Think Snatch, Layer Cake) And the implausible final scene was the nail in the coffin.

AWFUL!!!!!

I've never considered requesting a refund from Apple for a movie purchase until now. Kingsmen is a disorganized, needlessly violent, story, with a script that seemed to have been made up as the film was being made. A total waste of fine actors: I'm a fan of Colin Firth but he seemed to walk through this. A lisping Samuel L. jackson was simply irritating. (Spoiler alert) I lasted until the needless "Quentin Tarantino" bloodbath in the church, where Firth massacures 20 or 30 people, gutting them and blowing their heads off, for NO REASON. At that point I walked out to prevent wasting any more time on a useless piece of c___p.

Better than I expected in terms of plot, action, acting. Director tries to be clever with violence, making it comic: look at all the colorful exploding heads! Biggest problem was rancidly sexist attitude. Female characters one thought may rise end up debased; a woman secret agent one thinks is going to play a role in the finale instead scores her greatest success by almost defeating her effete fear of heights; another woman one thinks may end up playing a heroic role ends up in a pornographic pose. There's nothing edgy or clever in that, I don't think, though I suppose the director might claim he's only pushing the traditional 'Bond Girl' thing to the edge; but at least some of the Bond girls fight: no woman fights in this film save the villain's sidekick. Film tries to say some progressive things about class, but is reactionary on gender. My teenage son loved it: that's why I have to hate it.

WARNING: Made for 16-year-old boys only.

I purchased this movie based on having read several reviews, which were all basically glowing: They said it was a fast-moving spy movie spoof with great actors. However, as it turns out, the reviewers were channeling their inner 16-year-old boy--with the emotional depth of piece of photocopy paper and the sophistication of a can of SpaghettiOs.
I started watching the movie thinking that with these reviews and all of these fine actors: Colin Firth (way too good for this movie), Mark Strong (who is a wickedly smart actor), Samuel L. Jackson (what is he not in?, Michael Caine (hasn't he retired yet on all that Batman money?)--all fabulous actors, that the film would be good escapist fun:a tongue-in-cheek spy action thriller aimed at an adult audience.
What I got instead was scene after scene of wasted actors trapped in vapid, worse than cardboard cutout characters, in a story that appeared to go nowhere. Here I place the blame on the script and the director. Period. Putting up with the lisp on Jackson's character was bad enough, but by the time it got to the exploding heads, it was just plain stupid. And the violence? Really? What for? If you look up "gratuitous violence" in a dictionary, it will read "Kingsman."
And the final scene of a woman's butt is just, well, for 16-year-old boys. If you're over 16 years of age, don't waste your time on this one--there are plenty of other fun, big budget spy spoof drama/comedies on the market that are aimed at adults.
All I can say is that the A-list actors who slummed it for this must have been paid very well. And I love movies. But this was a dog--with fleas. I'm surprised my head didn't explode after painfully sitting through this adolescent pablum.

So bad!

So first off, don't go into this movie expecting anything serious. This movie is supposed to be fun, ridiculous, all over the place, and pure badassery incarnate. This is basically a revival of the old Bond films, what with your gentlemen spies, awesome gadgets, and over the top yet exciting villains. And on top of that, you have characters you'll actually care about. Really. Sure, you have your sad, character-developing parts sometimes, and there's one scene that broke my heart (you'll know once you see it), but this movie is meant to be tongue-in-cheek, over-the-top, laugh-out-loud fun. And the raunchy scene at the very end is sure to piss a few people off, as it didn't feel completely necessary, but like I said earlier, take it with a grain of salt. This movie is loud, expertly filmed and choreographed, and Firth's infamous church scene left me speechless for many reasons. I highly recommend this movie for a good laugh and a good, roaring time. Will definitely see this movie more than once!

Amazing!!

Oh my god, I saw this movie last night and it was beyond comparison to any other movie. It had a good plot, great actors, it was funny yet serious at times, and as Henry said, a movie is only as good as it's villain. I do believe I definitely loved how Valentine was played out. On a scale of one to ten, this movie was probably 50, maybe more. Definitely loved it and I can't wait to buy it.

Two thumbs up

Awesome movie. Loved every part of it. Easily one of the best action movies I've seen recently

Found the use of violence to be gratuitous and the humor crude: totally suitable for teenage boys. This was a movie of little or no redeeming value.

Top Secret, Tokyo Gore Police, and Kill Bill's Secret Three-Way Love Child

Seriously, I felt like Top Secret had a three-way love child with Kill Bill and Tokyo Gore Police that was genetically predisposed towards dressing in suits, speaking with an english accent and sipping on a martini.
My son asked me to see it to find out if he could watch it with a few eye/ear covers. After seeing it I told him that it would be possible if he opted to cover his eyes and ears for all but three very short scenes. Otherwise, it was too gory, vulgar, and violent.
All of which made it the perfect thing to see while out and about wife- and kid-less during the evening. Heck, find a theater that serves a good hoppy beverage and it's a match made in heaven. I really want to see it again.

Surprising & Fun

This is not your typical action flick, as it has a creative new take on the secret agent franchises that we all know and love. The comedy is not forced at all and is very coherent to the story line. Some things are overdone and sort of take away from what you're watching, but the film itself is still very enjoyable, action packed & hilarious. A must watch!

At some point, I was not able to choose a side. The movie was just two evil against each other, but one was more evil than the other. Did the movie really have to end that way? I mean the butt thing!

Ridiculous...ly awesome!!

I loved this!! Great characters, fun story, hilarious at times (lots of dark humor), and it doesn't take itself too seriously. And who doesn't like action hero Brits in suits? It's a pretty violent movie but not quite as bad as say, a Tarantino film. I thoroughly enjoyed this, what a great surprise for a February release!

Good!

Great casting, action, character development, acting, screenplay, witty dialogue, clever humor, lots of comedy yet retains an overall amazing flow to the plot. Definitely worth watching again, loved the film.
