A very brutal history of heroics, failure, and a sliver of hope.

We have one survivor, a thin thread of hope that proved Islam is not all evil and a film that entertains if you like it hard, fast, and brutal. It's war. It's devastating. It's very personal and gritty. Full of the heart of America and madness of leadership far away and out of touch.

This is why we thank our servicemen. We send them to fight in hell and if they survive, they are horribly affected.

You'll want to watch a comedy or something uplifting after this because it's pretty hard core. There are multiple scenes that feel all too real and you can't help but ache for these soldiers. Make sure you have your sound turned way up on this one because they did things sound wise that make you feel everything as it happens.

The way the director portrayed the scenes on screen and the way the actors reacted to the situations they were in, was so Realistically done to the very best it could possibly be portrayed on screen. One of the best movies of all time. It is really an amazing movie and the best movie I've ever seen. It really changes the way you look at the military and leaves you with a sence of pride. Definitely deserves a five star rating! If you haven't seen the movie, you need to watch it.

My 2nd favorite movie after The Maze Runner is this it's an awesome movie about 4 soldiers that go to Pakistan to kill this guy. But it's a true story and a great movie.

Pornographic violence and over glorification of patriarchal rhetoric used to sell military service to prepubescent teens.

This movie does not honor the men lost in the actual event, it turns them into a marketing device for the Armed Services. It says “If you join the military, you get to shoot people, blow stuff up and get away with it. Should you die some horrible death you will be mayrtered by Mark Wahlberg in a rock and roll movie of the week” which is the US’s version of 72 virgins.

Best movie I've ever seen

I can’t get enough of these stories of how heroic our military men & women. They truly are amazing people. However, I hate when hollywood ruins their stories. Instead of just wrapping up the movie quickly with that made up ending, how about concentrating on the relationship of Lutrell with the Afghan villager? His days of survival were the most interesting. It would have been amazing to see how they spent their time together hiding from the Taliban and how the Afghan’s wouldn’t bow down to the Taliban. Instead, we get two-thirds of a pretty awesome movie until the ending ruins it.

I've watched this movie about 5 times. It is by far my favorite movie. It displays the honor, sacrifice, and passion of the Navy SEALs and is a story of 5 men that go on a mission to get more intel on a certain part of the Taliban but end up getting a fight out of it. This story will make you cry and appreciate the armed forces more. 🇺🇸

Good film, but so untruthful, it is just wrong. As a movie it was good but as a movie based on a true story it is terrible. Get the facts first and watch it strictly as a Hollywood flick, do not make the mistake of associating it with real history.

This movie is so amazing it made me realize how thankful you should be and what you have you should be thankful for. it made me feel wonderful when I saw Mike Murphy sacrifice his life for his brothers. Truly and amazing movie and an amazing story.

I was really disappointed in this movie. Seemed like it missed out on a lot of the human factor with the team. I really enjoyed Blackhawk Down but this one to me seemed like it was full of guys spouting military cliche's when it should have been making us feel something for them as people. They came off as robots. And I really didn't care for the casting.

I read the book, I read about the operation. I thought the gore was a bit excessive , but the human aspect was lost. I felt that we are supposed to like it if not you are not patriotic. It’s release on memorial day weekend was not lost on me. I’m a war vet so I salute their sacrifices I truly do but it was lost with a okay script. I think Saving Private Ryan put things in a better perspective. The message is lost here. Sorry I really wanted to like it.

A truly great movie that does not sugarcoat the reality of the modern battlefield. Honors all SEALS, and other Tier One operatives (Green Berets, Rangers, DELTA, Nightstakers...all heroes). As a veteran, I appreciate the efforts of all of these men and their families.

From the opening scene in BUD/S training it sets the tempo. Every military member should own this movie.

Everything about Lone Survivor is good, except for one thing, and that’s Mark Wahlberg. Mark is playing the role of someone who is infinitely taller than him in real life, and let’s be honest. His acting is just not up to snuff in anything. He cannot open a film. The rest of the cast was terrific, and was good to see Taylor Kitsch bouncing back from Battleship and John Carter. Ben Foster is just good in everything he does. Director Peter Berg brings back Explosions in the Sky which was so effective in Friday Night Lights, and Pete has a cameo in the film. Great pacing, great cinematography, good acting all around, but Wahlberg just needed to get out of his own way as a producer and let someone else play the lead character.

Without a doubt, one of the hardest movies for me to watch. Because my dad is a SEAL, this movie really tore at me and will most likely tear at you too with it graphic scenes. Great movie and great acting. A must see at least one time!

In a lot of ways, this story is better than “Ryan” because it’s completely true. I just finished the book and to anyone who has seen this film I highly recommend the book. It gives way more backstory and speaks about the days and weeks after the Op that the film rushes and ultimately grazes. A question for iTunes (and by extension, Apple): Why do some releases contain either no or partial features than the film’s Blu-ray counterpart? For me, the bonus features are half of the value and this inconsistency has prevented me from buying films from iTunes exclusively. I'm pleased with the picture and sound quality but the lack of features is really disappointing.

when watching this movie it made me feel like I was in there with them, feeling what they were feeling, I watched every moment of it and was in tears by the middle of the movie. It gave me a new view on our soldiers, i have greater respect for our men and women in Arms. Thank you for your service.

I cant explain how great this movie is. It expresses what those men did and how close they were to each other and how dedicated they were to the mission. You really should do some research one them and how they were facing the mission. It makes you grow closer to them.

2nd. This movie is about the men that died that day and a tribute to them. It is NOT about the mission, the politics of war, money, or the desperate need for men to get their gun on.

This movie tells a story of a small group of Navy SEALS sent on a reconnaissance mission when their covert status is blown and they are overrun by the very people they were sent to seek out.

They (the SEALs) show their selflessness under unbelievable odds. Truly heroic men willing to give their lives for another… Specifically their brothers in arms. A great war story that is better than what Hollywood could ever drum up. Quite frankly because the actors/directors/producers/etc. of Hollywood do not understand the way of life required by such men... why they are the way they are... the discipline, self sacrifice, and drive that it takes to have such selfless honor like they do. Marcus Luttrell has done well to bring the proper honor and respect to all those men those 3 days.

One of the most inspiring things I have witnessed in my life. This movie makes me cry every time I see it. That's reason enough for everyone in America to watch it.

You know a movie is outstanding when the audience not only sits for the credits but stands and applauds at the films completion; both happened for this movie. This movie showcases Peter Berg’s ability to break your heart with truth and emotion on screen. The cast were nothing short of brilliant from Mark Walberg to Taylor Kitsch and Emile Hirsch to Ben Foster who should have received an Oscar nomination for his performance as Axe. I can’t give a higher recommendation to this movie, more than that I cannot be more thankful to the men of Operation Red Wings for their sacrifice and bravery.

This movie is by far, the best movie I've seen in the past decade. Not only is it an intense action-packed movie, it's also a touching story about the hopeless fight Marcus Luttrell and his fellow SEALs went through just to survive. Not only did Mr. Luttrell approve of this movie, he also plays a small part as one of the other troopers in an occasional scene. And what's more, this is a true story and the "lone survivor" was Marcus.

Tremendous storyline that accurately depicts the events on that mountain, the sacrifices made by those men and courage of the Afghan people toward an oppressive enemy of freedom in the form of the Taliban. I salute those who have served, continue to serve and will answer the call of this nation.

I recently saw lone survivor and is hands down one of the best movies I have ever seen. Not only is the movie spectacular, but it also shows what happens in combat. It shows the bond of brotherhood and what our brave men and women in the military do for us every second of their deployment. How much they are willing to give for us and each other is displayed in this true story. It touched me in a way I couldn't describe and left everyone else in the theatre speechless when we left. This is a definite must see and makes us all respect and honor our troops just that much more.

I have already seen this movie twice and I still have the same reaction to it. To all those critics out there who say that maybe Peter Berg should have made it more subtle, I tell you this: that is the reality of being in war. War is not subtle; there is nothing subtle about getting shot at and being attacked. I appreciate this movie not for the entertainment value, which it shouldn't be viewed as that, but as the account of individuals who gave their lives to protect one another. These are individuals who should be honored every single day -along with every military member who is serving and has served- and should be the REAL role models that generations look up to. They are men and women who sign up and do the work that 90% of other people will not willingly do. I know this is true, because I did it, and if anybody disagrees, please let me know. I challenge every single red, white, and blue American to watch this movie, then watch Murph: The Protector and tell me that does not get to your heart and soul. We need more people like Michael Murphy, Marcus Luttrell, Daniel Dietz, and Matthew Axelson along with the 16 other lives that were lost that day for people to look up to and know that THEY are the real role models.

I went to see the movie today & the theatre was pack. From beginning to end I love every bit of the action. I was sitting at the edge of seat. I would go see this movie again. No movie will ever do any kind of justice for what our armed forces do. But this film had my full attention from start to finish. I highly recommend everyone to watch this film. For me personally, it further strengthened the gratitude and respect I have always had for my parents and grand-parents who are military veterans, and all other vets and current service members of our armed forces.

This movie shows what few people realize. That the real heroes aren't Michael jordan or Lebron James. The real heroes are those who fight and die for our country.

I saw this movie in theaters the night it came out and was left with a deep sadness yet a great sense of pride and thankfulness for our military. First off, this is much more than just a movie as it draws you in and makes you feel as if you personally know the characters from the beginning. The action is incredibly realistic and nail biting from the get go. I stepped away from this film devastated, as did the rest of the crowd. I have never seen so many grown men crying because of a movie, including my Veteran father. To keep a review that could be pages long, short, Lone Survivor is the most emotionally impacting movie I have ever seen in my life. Fantastic Movie, God bless the USA and our troops.
