It didn’t need to be made, but it’s ok

Definitely recommend this movie . Even in 2021. My baby loves it and so do I.

Ending was complete and utter trash. So they get expelled, but they manage to “surprise” the headmaster of the college. That’s it. You sat through over 90 minutes to, in the end, waste your time and probably your money. The only Pixar movie I’ve seen that has an ending that’s far worse is Onward. Glad I never paid to see this movie in theaters.

I liked the prequel film. It gets me started before I entered college.

This movie was good but not the best because Mike and Sulley were not friends. Sulley was not that good of a friend. The Oozma Kappa team were good. Art was funny. Mike is my Favorite Character still. Sulley is my least favorite character in this movie. This is not the the best Pixar movie.

Monsters University sastifyed me in every scene. When facing university your biggest time yet to get a life this animated movie can tear you up and even make your life soar.

At the end of the movie, mike and sulley yell at each other, insult each other, and mike stole someone’s card to go to the human world. And mike almost got killed in the dark forest. Mike and sulley try to escape the dark forest to make it look like a horror movie. Park rangers try to kill mike and sulley and in that cabin, were claw marks and blood (that’s sort of true, maybe not.) WHAT KIND OF A MOVIE IS THIS? THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE A KID’S EDUCATIONAL MOVIE, NOT SOME SCARY MOVIE WITH DARKNESS AND HORROR AT THE END. I thought the ending would be in the Final tournament to see who the best scarer is. But apparently, I was wrong. The ending has darkness, scary images, and escaping. It reminds me of the slenderman movie. DUDE, WHAT IS THIS? SLENDERMAN? and the ending was so dark, you can’t even see what’s happening. And sulley jumps to the ground and scares at the rangers, AND BROKE THE ALL TIME SCARE RECORD. MIKE AND SULLEY BROKE THE DOOR. I can’t even describe how scary this ending is. Why is this in a kids movie? Why is this in an educational movie? This is like rated PG. and if they make the dark ending an alternate deleted scene, mike and sulley would not make it out alive. They would just get shot and then die. Wow, glad that didn’t actually happen. I’m glad they made it out alive. Yeah, I do not like what I saw there. But after that, is the real happy ending. Mike and sulley leave monsters university and get ready for monsters inc. I like that happy ending. It’s the true ending.

This is one of Pixar’s best to me ,and I love dragon centipede lady! This movie is very creative!

When I saw this movie for the first time, i said “This should have came out first.” After Watching it for the 5th time, this movie was put a lot of effort. 1. Mike and Sulley are undergraduate yet they found another way to reach their dream job. 2. Mike and Sullley have potentials that other monster didn’t have. They did the impossible!

Last for 3. Field trip to Monster Inc. in the movie is the best way to get your team or group inspired that size and look dont matter!

This movie is really good. Most of the bad reviews for this movie are for there being a lack of subtitles, one guy even asked for them to change the whole movie to Spanish. 😂

This movie is great, and fun. I love this movie a lot. I love all of the characters in this movie. It is one of my all time favorite movies ever.

I remember being excited for MU when it was announced.It was nowhere near as good as the original,but still funny and am enjoyable film.

Monsters University is the prequel to the awesome monsters inc. When they announced M.U. I had mixed feeling but I was determined Pixar could do it. But sadly I overestimated them. M.U. However does being laughs and has a solid storyline. But M.U. Doesn't stand a chance to other Pixar flicks.

I pay to rent it then it doesn't start then I go back to it and charges me again like uhhhh stupid

I loved how this movie showed the development of the friendship and character of sully and mike. I also loved how this movie used foreshadowing with some characters which tied the 2 movies together. Overall, great plot, great characters and great animation so you should definitely watch this movie.

I used to LOVE Monsters Incorperated, and now that Monsters University is out :D!!! I saw this in theaters and said OMG we have to hame this! But, at Target, it was about 30$ so I was like D:!!! But its here now and I'm buying it!!!

I watched the first movie when I was a little girl and when I found out MU was gonna come out I was so excited I highly recommend to see the first movie then see MU

Joel and the robots would find comical parody in the pig chase and the scare class when the monsters take the scare final, the scare thing screaming like a missile would make Joel, Servo and Crow go nuts. Then the monster that turns invisible would reckon something like "I am going to freak out if he turns invisible again"

It's funny and a great family movie

I found this prequel very heart warming and loving but I am hoping that there will be an actual sequel where Boo comes back at the age of 18 and goes on an incredible adventure with Mike and Sulley.

I'm really really really really really really don't like THAT movie because at the almost at the end of that movie, mike and sulley yell at each other. Mike just talk back to Sulley. I was so angry that mike and sulley talk back each other. After that when they talk back each other, Mike was taking SOMEONE'S card! Why did mike was taking someone card? Why?( Answer: Because he was trying to see real people.). Dean was trying to stop that monster! Mike's team was sent to jail! Because they want Mike to come back! Imagine I will close that monsters university for mike was seeing real people. I need to STOP the police and I'm a army. I need mike back home! But it was too late! At the end of the movie, is a happy ending.

This movie was just rented and downloaded last night. I started to watch it and only the first thirty minutes play and then it keeps saying cant be downloaded. I have no earthly idea how to actually get my money back since this obviously is worthless to me if it wont play. I am furious.

I'll admit I was nervous whether MU would be a good movie or not, being a prequel and all, but man, I didn't regret a thing after seeing it. As always, Pixar's films are beautifully animated and the picture is incredibly detailed, not to mention worth buying in HD. And the characters OH THE CHARACTERS, they're quirky and all have their own hilarious sense of humor! People complain that the story, though, isn't one of Pixar's most creative, but you hafta give it to them for pulling off a sturdy friendship (with the two buddies despising each other at first) and a surprising outcome to how Sulley and Mike ended up in Monsters Inc.

This review may be a bit biased, I'll admit, since my favorite movie as a child was Monsters Inc., and it still is. But trust me when I say this movie is worth your twenty bucks (I think). Of course if you're not picky about some repetitive aspects of the flick, this movie is for any animated film fan. 😁

I would give this a 4.5 out of 5 stars. You always worry that the prequel will not be as good as the original movie but this movie met my high standards. I was happily surprised and there was a twist at the end which really made the movie memorable.

Now, it’s true that this movie may not have been the best that PIXAR has to offer, and frankly, PIXAR is quickly losing its shtick. After Cars, PIXAR has just made stinkers and honestly, this was the best movie that PIXAR has had to offer since Cars. I’m 20 years old and I’m still a fan of these movies, but I’m just saying that PIXAR should start coming up with better ideas, but I loved this movie. The comedy was far better than the original, and the drama, though there may not have been very much was still very good.

This is a very good movie that came from Pixar.

Pixar doesn't make good movies anymore. They make Disney movies. And though this is the kind of mindless fare that kids may like, it is not half the quality that the studio used to produce. To say I'm disappointed would be putting it mildly.

That said, the animation is beautiful, and the story, while utterly predictable and kind of stupid, was at least passable.

I have always enjoyed Monsters Inc, and found Monsters University even better. As a high school student preparing for college this movie brought me much excitement for the years to come. The pictures were full of vivid colors, and messages were heartwarming. Also, I do not believe you need to have seen the original to find this one enjoying. I would recommend this movie to both adults and children.

PIXAR takes on its first prequel and it doesn't disappoint. Monsters University successfully blends a great story, humor, and old characters with instantly lovable new ones. This film is a must see for movie lovers of all ages!

Okay let me first start off by saying I'm 17, but I'm a total 5 year old when it comes to monsters inc movies. I honestly loved it. Nothing more to say xD

Best prequel ever! Saw it three times in the theater and can't wait to see it again. Best animation movie of 2013. Good laughs and jokes and a good way to tell a genesis story of how Mike and Sulley became best friends. Can't wait to see when another Monsters Inc. sequel in the future.

When I heard the news that Pixar would be making a prequel to their 2001 hit animated film "Monsters, Inc.," I was pretty excited to say the least. As an obsessive Pixar fan since a very young age, I practically grew up with the movie and all its hilarious characters, so getting to revisit the fun world of Monstropolis once again was just the icing on the cake. My only concern was whether or not the filmmakers would be able to recapture the great comic charisma and heartwarming magic of the original. And I'm happy to say that, for the most part, they really succeeded. "Monsters University" is an inventive, hilarious, and wonderfully charming adventure that actually adds some surprising depth to our main heroes. And while it doesn't quite scale the same heights as the studio's finest efforts, it's still a briskly entertaining romp all the way through.

Ever since Mike Wazowski (Billy Crystal) was a little monster, he's only dreamed of becoming a Scarer - and he knows better than anyone else that all the biggest and best Scarers come from none other than Monsters University. But during his first semester, Mike's plans for success are derailed when he crosses paths with hotshot James P. "Sulley" Sullivan (John Goodman), a natural-born Scarer who simply relies on pure physical strength alone. From the moment these two mismatched monsters meet, it's clear they can't stand each other. And pretty soon, their over-the-top competitive spirit gets them both kicked out of the University's elite Scare program. If they ever have a shot at getting back in, they'll have to work together along with an odd bunch of misfit monsters by competing in the college's annual Scare Games. Will our heroes succeed in the end?

By far, one of the best aspects of this flick is its wonderfully creative character and background designs. Each individual frame is full of so many fun, clever details, you might have to watch it more than once to catch them all. And of course, in true Pixar fashion, the animation is simply stunning. It's actually some of the best I've seen yet from the studio, which is saying a lot. As for the story, while it's certainly enjoyable and moves along at a nice pace, it's pretty predictable stuff for a Pixar flick. For most of the second half, this film basically revolves around a typical "lovable underdogs fighting the odds" plot with a monster-fied twist. Most of the sequences involving the main characters competing in scare-themed challenges are enjoyable, as are the hilarious interactions between Mike, Sulley, and the rest of their Oozma Kappa gang, but it isn't until the third act finally rolls in that things start to pick up speed. The thrilling climax the film builds up to doesn't disappoint. It even manages to make us sympathize with our main characters that much more in one genuinely touching scene. And while I certainly don't mind the fact that the filmmakers choose to spend most of the story just focusing on Mike and Sulley (this is their story, after all), it wouldn't have hurt if they had done more with some of the supporting characters, such as Helen Mirren's remarkably intimidating Dean Hardscrabble and Nathan Fillion's enjoyably snobby antagonist Johnny Worthington. But for the most part, the writers do a nice job at keeping each monster consistently fun and entertaining, even the ones in the background. And as an added bonus for those who've seen the original flick, quite a few familiar characters make brief appearances throughout this movie. So just make sure to keep an eye out for them. It's a pretty great nostalgic throwback.

Though its story lacks enough compelling originality to make it stand out from past Pixar features, "Monsters University" is still a visually astounding and thoroughly engaging treat for viewers of any age. True to the spirit of its predecessor, the movie treats its main characters, surprisingly enough, like actual humans, with both Crystal and Goodman adding even more personality and depth to Mike and Sulley than before. It also helps that their rapid-fire comic chemistry keeps the film running mostly on full speed, with just a few minor narrative speed bumps along the way. The animation is beautifully detailed, the clever sight and running gags are consistently amusing, and the script even manages to add in some surprising twists here and there. Sure, when compared to Pixar's previous films, this one is far from deep or groundbreaking. But then again, it's not supposed to be. At its very core, "MU" is a fun-spirited, good-natured, and genuinely heartwarming animated adventure for the kid (and adult) in all of us. If you fell in love with "Monsters, Inc.," there's a good chance you'll enjoy this imaginative prequel just as much. Even if you're not a Pixar fan, I still say it's worth your time. At the very least, give it a chance and see what you think.

The people at Pixar may have lost a step or two creatively over the past few years with flicks like "Cars 2" and "Brave," but at least they still have the ability to tell richly engaging stories with unforgettable characters thanks to the two key ingredients found in all their films: humor and heart. And the fact that "Monsters University" - the studio's first-ever prequel - manages to pack in all of those qualities (and then some) into its nicely swift run time makes it an amusing and amiable treat for old and young alike. I gotta say, seeing Mike and Sulley for the first time in twelve years gave me a great nostalgic feeling I hadn't felt since watching "Toy Story 3" on opening day. Billy Crystal and John Goodman bring so much fun energy and life to the main characters that you'd hardly believe they ever left the recording studio during all that time. Even more entertaining than their flawless comedic chemistry is getting to see just how Mike and Sulley actually met and eventually became the best of friends. Sure, this story isn't really the strongest we've seen from Pixar (it's basically a semi-predictable, college-themed "underdog" tale with some clever sight gags thrown in), but it does get a lot better once our heroes unexpectedly find themselves trapped in the human world. At that point, the film reaches a genuinely emotional and thrilling climax that reflects just how good Pixar's storytelling can be (even if the previous half of the plot doesn't hold up quite as well as it could have). But I digress. As for the characters, I'd probably say they're my favorite aspect of this movie. They're all so uniquely designed and consistently interesting that it's a shame we don't get to know more about their personalities. Even so, at least we get to see some very familiar faces from the first film (Roz, Randall, etc.) that help foreshadow the future for Mike and Sulley, so that's pretty cool. Anyway, "Monsters University," despite its story-related flaws at times, is still a hilarious, heartwarming, and enjoyably fun adventure for the entire family. It may not be Pixar's finest, but it's well worth your time.
