The biggest reason I didn't see this in the theater had to do with my own prejudice. You see, my parents and I disagree on movies about 99.9% of the time, therefore, they recommend one and I typically ignore it or boycott it. Well, this is that 0.01% film cause after I rented it I was impressed by it. McConaughey to me has generally been enjoyable. He's done action and I know he can deliver intensity. He also usually adds charm along with that kind of southern accent of his.
So, the premise on this one is that he's a lawyer who generally works out of his Lincoln Town Car. He's got a chauffeur because apparently he lost his license some time in the back story but never bothered to tell his driver that he got it back cause they really like each other. I mean, who wouldn't want to look cool with a driver. Anyway, he is referred to defend a client who's been accused of attempted murder. The evidence shows that he was arrested in her house unconscious after an obvious struggle and the defendent claims he was lured there by a woman who is later revealed as a prostitute. He claimed he was conked on the back of head unconscious after entering the front door and assumed that someone else set him up cause of course he's rich as hell.
Anyway, there are two precitable ways for the story to go. Either we find out he really was the victim or he's lying about it cause he's that kind of good citizen. Won't go beyond the obvious on that one cause the film is all McConaughey. Without his performance, this is a complete dud cause the rest is rather formulaic. Rental recommendation.
