The way this movie builds to its climax, the superb acting from all cast involved, and the overall suspense make for a true classic! definitely don’t pass on this one! A must see!!

ive watched it because of the reviews, Dont know what is the hype is all about, movie is boring, 2 hours of talking. ive watch other movies with only talking but ive liked them, but this one is not for me. it has some moments but did not last long.

Anthony Hopkins performance is riveting!!!💯

Ok, so I didn’t purchase this but I watched it on Netflix and OMG. I’m a True Crime junkie but I don’t really like horror and this is great for me! I’m not saying it’s not scary and it isn’t in the traditional way it’s more like suspense and realization. This movie is so well done that it doesn’t need to rely on cheap jump scares or any old tactics to get you frightened. There is slight gore ( I’m fine with gore) and disturbing scenes but you paid for it so... Also when I say realization I mean horrifying realization. Like OMG OMG WAIT OH NOOO. THAT kind of realization. Watch at your own discretion but watch it cause it’s amazing!!

The Silence of the Lambs is a wonderful thriller that dosen't involve horror cliches like jump scare stupid movie. The Silence of the Lambs suceeds at every level and it had good acting and very wonderful character writing and Anthony Hopkins being creepy as a psycho at every hand!

Jerky and not stable...grains are very apparent in this bad upgraded film...unless very very cheap....avoid.

This is Jodie Foster and Anthony Hopkins, arguably, at their career best acting. Silence of the lambs is as frighteningly real as it is a poetic depiction of how criminal psychology can come alive. The roles, as adapted from the book, are stunning portrayals of a true story that builds suspense, makes more and Never before and not since the release of this film has there been any other comparable portrayal of the violent yet human complexity of what it can mean to be a serial killer.

I know I gave Saw a 5 star rating saying it was a very imperfect movie. This film on the other hand is cinematic perfection. I watch this film every year and I always look for flaws, and while this one tones down on the gore that Saw has it honestly frightens me more. I truly do love this movie and it’s in my top 10 favorite movies of all time.

I'm still torn as to whether this film or Beauty and the Beast should have won the Oscar, but nonetheless this is the kind of horror film one does not have to pressure of seeing these days (especially with the epidemic that is Found-Footage, thanks Obam-.... I mean Blair Witch!) This is a movie that really gets inside your mind (thanks to Anthony Hopkins you brilliant man you) and makes you question your own sanity, and without adding an insane amount of blood and jump scares that also plague modern horror. One must only look into the hollow eyes of Hannibal or Buffalo Bill to gain the kind of terror Saw, Resident Evil and Ouija could never provide

Top 5 horror/thriller films of all time. This is up there with The Shining and The Exorcist. Just a solid and spectacularly well-made film. They truly don't make them like this anymore. The characters are so rich and you get to know them so intimately through development that you almost feel like you're in a straight jacket. This is one of those films that everyone should see (when they are of age) even people who don't like this genre.

One of my all time favorites, but why did iTunes change the old box art? The old one with the face and the moth has been replaced with some new bs.

I always wondered why this was never remade. After watching it I understood why, it's a master piece. The acting is spectacular , the sets beautiful, and the perfect sound track. By far one of the best movies I've ever seen

This film is far superior to the sequels that followed. This is mostly due to the talents of Anthony Hopkins and Jodie Foster as well as a fine supporting cast.

I saw this movie last night and thought it was eerily thrilling. This is the definition of a horror movie. I got so scared that I felt compelled to turn the lights on towards the end. As I finished I was equally frightened for dear life and impressed at how spectacular that film turned out. That movie just combines the sickest villains and makes you hate that you love them so much. If you haven't seen this movie, get it right now. Shut the lights off. And enjoy this magnificent thriller!

Creepy & scary

This was the first horror film that sweeped the oscars. The Academy usually ignores horror films but I'm sure they don't like to look at it as a horror, it's more of a thriller more than anything. A thriller with brilliant acting, brilliant direction, brilliany dialogue, the whole package.

For me, it's all about Lecter, it's suprising considering he's not the star of the movie although people tend to think he is. Talk about stealing the show, this performance is the definition of "killis it" when you talk about acting.

The main star of the film is Jodie Foster. I don't even know where to start, this is arguably Foster's best role, no one else could have played Clarice Starling. Foster brings it all home with her performance, garnering her second academy award.

Then we come to Buffalo Bill, and OH MY GOD Ted Levine. Levine is such a great actor, bringing such a creepy nature to the role and making everyone in the theater just gasp at his performance. I'm sure that ever since 1991, people have looked at him in a whole new light.

In the end, no one has a weak moment, everyone is so great in their roles and you are into this film from the moment it starts till the moment it ends. Pure cinematic excellence.

Never saw it, but my girlfriends moms boyfriends sister said it's an incredible movie. I want to watch it... At night.

This film is downright the best movie I have ever seen. The story line is intense, horrifically realistic, and gripping. What more could you ask for? The best part of the film is the relationship between Hopkins' and Foster's characters. And their acting is simply the icing on the cake.

The book I was not a fan of.I just didn't like the idea of a psychopath helping a FBI agent find another psychopath. But The picture in 1991 was by far the best cannibal/ thrilling movie ever. Anything with Anthony Hopkins is a must see....The very original was called "Manhunter"...it is also a must see...It came out in the late 80's....Mr Hopkins takes this to another level...LOVE HIM!!!

I ate his liver....oh no, can you please spare me the cultural cliches. Creepy but an Oscar winner? Jodi Foster's only good movie. Boy, she made a lot of mediocre movies. And to the idiot who watches this movie every night before sleep, dude are you allowed to watch movies in the insane asylum?

The preview doesn't capture the greatness of this film. I felt the need to write a review (I don't usually write these) because this movie is SO AMAZING. Especially if you like horror. They're are some scary parts of this movie but its SOOOO GOOODD!! ,y favorite of all time.

This movie was chilling. There were great performances, but Anthony Hopkins basically owns Hannibal Lector. He did such a great job portraying such a psychopathic killer. Overall, the story kept having your attention, you just had to find out what happened next.

There are few movies which end up as perfect and iconic as "Silence of the Lambs". I felt uneasy watching it….as if I were in each scene with Jody Foster! The "blind" scene is by far one of the best in history. Helllllooooooo Clarice.

I watched this with my dad while we were in Florida. Now I'm only 13, but I can understand the depth and importance of films (at least when they're watchable UNLIKE Immortals). Which reminds me: watch the movie Take Shelter. It was superbly done, Micheal Shannon (if I spelled his name right) was incredible and Jessica Chastain was amaazing. Suprisingly enough, however, I saw the movie lawless and Jessica actually did a topless. Can't say I saw that coming. Anyway, back to the film at hand. Anthony is a great actor who had and still has great potential. It's too bad that he hasn't been in many good movies since. Jodie Foster was also in this film, and all I have to say about her is wow. She is a great actress and she not only did a great job in this movie, but she was also great in Panic Room. Anyway, I have to say that the director did a fantastic job setting up the anticipation and suspense, especially toward the last scene at the killer's house. Overall, I thought this was a five star film, and it seems that everybody else who rated this movie does too. If you're thinking about renting it, do it. You will not regret it.

Okay this movie gives me a great idea of what a villain is and lector is a m************** that makes me want keep Waching cause it's so a great movie if they made movies like this I would understand why America is going into debt because it's such a great movie.

Mind blowing, a must see horror film

I was just flipping through the channels some late night and i came across this movie. I had heard things about it, but i hadn't ever seen it. I was blown away! the sheer brilliance of Dr. Lector and how he gets out of things is just incredible. Anthony Hopkins is AMAZING in this movie and I could never get bored watching it. it's so creepy and awesome! a must see for EVERYONE!

This movie is truly a master work. Now horror movies don't really scare me, and this is no exception, but this movies unsettling portrayl of the insane truthfully creeped me out, which is where this movie excels be it bills dance, or hannibals calm nature this movie really makes you go WTF! this movie one five oscars when it came out making it the horror movie with the third most awards. Anthony hopkins won one for best actor and although he was only in the movie for 24 minutes he delivered on of the most unsettling performances of all time. Watch this movie for the acting, the script, and the gritty real atmosphere that makes you feel like this could really happen. So I give it five stars! Truly a masterpiece.

An excellent movie but it is very twisted and morbid. It has a great plot and amazing acting. It is one of my favorite movies. Whoever wrote the script for this must have been on some hard-core drugs cause this movie is so morbid that a normal person could never think of stuff like what is in this! Expect to leave this movie somewhat scared, very shocked, and surprised that the things like what was in this movie do actually happen. I recomment going straight to buying it and forget renting.

Antony Hopkins is at his best in this movie as Hannabal Lector, a cannibalist doctor who has been locked up for many years. Jodie Foster, "Clarice", is trying to get him to tell him the location of a man named Buffalo Bill, who has been kidnapping women. Hannabal only tells her information if she tells him her past with him. This movie is one of those films which will be remembered for centuries to come! Buy it! You won't be dissapointed!!!

Breathtaking, outstanding movie. Althought it is a little disturbing (some might find it more than others), it is a great film.

Anthony Hopkins was only in this for like twenty four minutes and won an Oscar! The way he acts and the suspense he brings is amazing.

This is the best movie ever made, in every conceivable way. I've watched it several times, and I'm sure I'll watch it again soon. I'm a big fan of this genre to begin with, but I've never seen another movie this good. I'd give 10 stars if I could. I also recommend reading the book, which is equally excellent.

Anthony Hopkins is the epitome of evil, with his soft spokeness and coolness, yet it is undeniable that he is one of the most evil characters in history. Jodi Foster also shines as a brave FBI agent trying to track down a ruthless killer. And how does she find him? By playing mind games with Dr. Lecter. I've noticed that many of the reviews have said "Best Horror Movie Ever", but is it really a "horror movie". I think not. I find this to be one of the most suspenseful Psychological Horror films of all time. So great are the performances that both Jodi Foster and Anthony Hopkins got Oscars (Hopkins' performance was 27 minutes long). This film will go down in history as one of the greatest in any genre.

this movie is really good and i mean good. if you look at the picture for the movie you dont understand it but you have to watch the movie to get it same with the name. i really like this movie. its the best ever. and one part of it was made in the city i live in so thts a bonus too. but i would definatly recomend you to buy this movie you wont be dissatisfied.
