I don't have much to say about this movie other than its excellent all the way around, one of my favorites. Denzel is awesome in this flick.

Great movie… Impressive performances all around and incredibly emotional.

Not even Denzel, who is worth watching reading the contents of a cereal box, or Chris simply being Chris, can save this flick from being anything more than a run of the mill action piece.

To me this movie is artwork. An awesome performance by Denzel. The cast is phenomenal. I have watched it 10 times. I plan on seeing it more. It's not for the faint of heart, extremely strong in visual style and emotion. I recommend buying it.

I love Denzel Washington. He can take a worn out plot and turn it into an exciting action movie. While totally predictable, this movie is very, very watchable. Typical of a DZ film he is supported by top quality (mostly) actors. I have watched it two times and would be happy to watch it again.

This has been my favorite movie since it first came out. It's has style, and beauty. The cinematography is breathtaking, and the actors force you to take the journey with them. It's riveting, and I don't think I'll ever watch a better movie.

i think denzel washington is a great actor, that being said i think that this was a great movie for him, i would definitely recommend this movie to anybody who enjoys a good action film

This is my favorite movie of all time. It is unbelievably entertaining and will keep you on the edge of your seat the whole time. This movie is one that I could watch 100 times and it would never get old! Amazing!

I have no idea what the critics were on when they reviewed this movie. I will tell you what I think as an average person who appreciates good storytelling, and that is that this movie is great. Yes, it is extremely graphic and violent during some scenes. Yes, the subtitle and photography editing could have been a bit better. However, as far as character development journeys go, this one hits it on the spot for me. The protagonist, played by Denzel, is a former CIA who is basically washed up and now assigned to guarding a nine year old girl. The first half of the movie basically showcases the relationship between the two characters as she tries to break through his cold outer shell and into his heart. I won't spoil what happens, but basically stuff hits the fan and Denzel's character goes on a killing rampage. You'll be getting a lot of blood, tears, and character development in this film, I guarantee you. A good 4.5/5 for me.

Gut wrenching. One of the absolute best films ever made. With a haunting soundtrack, I deem this one unforgettable.

Not sure how this film got so many bad reviews on Rotten Tomatoes. It had so much heart to it. A man finds redemption for himself and learns to live again only to have the very thing that made him want to live, a little girl, taken away from him. Yes, it's a revenge flick but it's also a love story -- a beauty and the beast type story. The cinematography and editing is a little weird at first. Admittedly, the first time I watched it, I got annoyed at the choppy editing but you really get an appreciation of it when you look at it and relate it to the character's journey. Maybe it's just an acquired taste. In any case, an instant classic and one you should definitely see.

Rotten tomatoes is a disgrace for rating this movie so low . I'm glad to see it on iTunes . Two thumbs up !

I have just watched this movie and I truly believe that I am going to watch it again and again. Amazing performance! Very touching and interesting plot. Some people say it is too slow… Well those people should watch Taken instead. I love love love this movie and I love the revenge that Dense shows even though it takes half of the time of the movie. Amazing!

How does this movie have a five star rating? The first half is good. There is emotion, there is decent dialogue, and Tony Scott keeps his editor under control. But, about an hour in, the film falls completely apart. It's just horendously edited action sequence after action sequence. I might have liked something like that a few years ago, but I have matured as a viewer. There is no point to the second half. No emotion, no more meaning and the heart of the entire story, Denzel's love for Fanning's character, dissapears nearly completely.

Synthesis: Redemption enabled by love can make you someone's teddy bear and guard-dog! Excellent movie, but I didn't like the "rave" music sequences...they should have ended up on the editing floor!

This movie is totally beast. If your sitting there wondering whether to buy it or not, do it. The plot is awesome, and the action never stops. It makes you feel like your really in the movie. I've grown up watching this movie, and yes the end is emotional, but once you've watched the movie, you begin to appreciate the significance of why he hands himself over. And every time you watch this movie, you uncover something new about the plot. So let's just say this movie is a must buy!:)

OMG!!!! I lved this movie but I also hated it. I loved it becuase of the connection between fanning and washington, but I hated it bucuase frekin Denzel dies. What kind of crap is this! The girl is rescued and returned safe to her mom, but then denzel trades himself for the girl and he dies. The movie should've ended with Denzel taking Dakota home and ever body living freakin happily ever after. PLEASE I AM BEGGING YOU, DO NOT WATCH THIS MOVIE. YOU WILL CRY!!!! Extermely underrated. One of my all-time favorite movies.

Ok this is the best movie I have ever seen in my life for obvious reasons. After you watch this you will absolutely in awe. We all know how good Denzel Washington and Tony Scott are and Dakota Fanning has an amazing start to her career in this one. I've seen just about every Denzel Washington movie but this one tops them all including Book of Eli. I rented this and then bought it so I spent about 14 dollars on it but it would of been worth 40. It combines awesome violence with such a deep meaning and sad ending. Absolutely astounding!!!!!! 10stars if i could

I have no clue what movie the folks at rotten tomatoes were watching but it couldn't possibly have been this flick. It rocks from start to finish and is one of Denzel's best. If you have never seen it, it will be the best 4.99 you have ever spent short of buying 4.99 of winning lotto tickets.

This movie was phenomenal!! I do not understand how anyone could give this movie less than 5 stars. The acting is absolutely incredible--Denzel Washington, Dakota Fanning, and every other actor in the movie completely enveloped their roles! Yes, there is a lot of violence, but let's face it--these scenarios happen in Mexico on a daily basis. If you truly cannot stomach the violence, this film is not for you. Otherwise, there is not a slow or boring part in the entire film! It is most definitely a tear-jerker, but will keep you on the edge of your seat!! Based on true events. A-MAZING!! I promise it will be one of your favorites!!

Okay, I am a sucker for revenge movies, and this is one of my all time favorites. What a film. We have an over the hill mercenary who remains just a finger-twitch away from killing himself, and he is brought back to life by Dakota Fanning's marvelous young character. He then loses her, and you had best not be in his way as he seeeks his revenge "on everyone who did this, everyone involved in this, everyone who profited from it' (or something like that). Some very cold violence here, but this is the character. Magnificent supporting cast, (Rourke, Walken, Ticotin, etc). Washington and Fanning (so young but so great) hit just the right notes. Strangely touching and romantic (in the most general sense) for a revenge film filled with such violence. Also, very real to what is happening in parts of Mexico today. Watch it, be entertained. be touched, and be amazed. I was.

This was another great Denzel movie. This movie was much better than I had anticipated. If you are looking for a joy-ride, may I recommend this movie. As soon as the movie started I was hooked on the outstanding plot and story-line. This must be one of the best, if not the greatest Action-Adventure movie in the world. critics didn't like thsi film. i'm not sure why that it. the is fairly cliche, but everything else is strong. lines like "happy is a state of mind. i don't remember" (which is true. remember feeling happy when you're in a sad mood. you can't. and vice versa) are subtle and smart and go a long way to adding complexity to the chaarcters. also, the bits of scripture (i'm an atheist) work well. and tony scott is a masterful director of suspense and action. he's almost too good. he seems slick. from the standpoint of an aspring screenwriter who always overwrites. the script's understatement si very impressive. overall, this is a good example of a very professionally constructed film. theer's no wasted movement. this makes ita bit impersonal, but it lends the film a great deal of effortless fluidity. part of the pleasure of thsi film is its sheer professionalism.

This movie is great!!! BRAVO! Dakota Fanning plays very well along with Denzel Washington.I would totally recommend this to anyone! It is definatly worth 3.00$ to rent :D

Straight up one of the most badass movies I ever seen, Denzel knows how to play a tough guy charecter well, I would not end up on his bad side. Pletty of action and great one liners like "Forgiveness is between them and god, it's my job to arrange the meeting". And of course Tony Scott knows how to pull off an action file with a kickass story very well. Look forward to the next Denzel Washington & Tony Scott feature.

i saw tis when it came it out when i was 8 and love it, i cried my heart out for the ending, it was an amazing movie i love it!

If you love a movie with very intense action scenes, incredible acting, and on the edge of your seat action then this movie is for you! It won't disappoint you during any of the movie!

I first saw this movie on one of the movie channels at home, and immediately wished I had seen it in the theaters. I fear that most movies today sacrifice realism in favor of making sure the moviegoer never has to feel uncomfrotable, or even do anything other than keep his or her eyes open. Man On Fire not only proves that it is possible to maintain realism in this generation of fast-edits and, frankly, lazy moviegoers, but it also writes the handbook on how to do it. The wandering, dissolving subtitles were brilliant, and Denzel's ability to sound fluent in another language adds that minor detail that too many movies lack.

If you want vintage Denzel, this isn't quite it. This isn't Denzel shouting at people or being a quote-machine. This isn't overconfident Denzel who is always armed with a witty comment. This is vulnerable, pained Denzel that we just never saw much of. Forget The Hurricane, this might just be Denzel's finest performance.

One of my personal favorites. I looked for Una Palabra by Carlos Varela (ending song) on itunes but to my dismay I couldn't find it. Either I need to look harder or they need to put that song on there

I forgot how great this movie was since I hadn't seen it in a while. The story and direction of this movie keeps you glued to the screen along with the innovative editing you'd always expect with a Tony Scott film. The acting is impeccable. How can you deny Denzel Washington, Christopher Walken and Mickey Rourke all in one movie? This is one of the few movies I can watch over and over again. Highly recommended!

Although this movie is a remake of the 1987 film, it still manages to surpass the origional film. If your into quick pace action as well as the good o'l fasion revenge story this is the one for you. The way the film is directed is near perfection an should be a buy for any guy or gal who loves the smart shoot'em ups.

I saw this movie on the bus I went on when I was going to Xtapa(Mexican Beach) and I loved it! I loved it and I think it was really well written. I only wish the ending was different because it was soooooo sad

Because this is based on a real events, it makes it 100 % better. The actors did a great job which helped pull this movie together, to make it the amazing movie that it is.

...and I was really impressed by this film. It did a good job of including Mexican culture, and I REALLY liked all the Spanish they used. Fear and corruption were depicted accurately. The story was pretty good, and the acting was superb. I especially liked how the movie ended. Also, the feel given by the cinematography was a major factor in why I gave this movie a 4 star rating. The traffic and street's were laughably different in the movie though. Mexico City has 21 million people in it, you would imagine there would be more people walking down a street, or more traffic jams in a City this size. Oh well. Very well done!

The only reason I decided to watch this movie was because it was on on a Friday night and Dakota Fanning is in it, and I am working towards seeing all of her movies. I never imagined it would be as good as it was. The acting was AUHMAZING, and it had a great plot. The only thing that kinda creeped me out a little was all of the death (burning fingers off, blowing people up, ext.) but it definetly added to the drama of the movie. Denzel Washington gives a great performance and the tradgedy seems very real. It is a movie I would watch over and over.

Tony Scott from my perspective fails to display the well crafted direction that his brother delivers on the majority of his films (Ridley Scott). Ridley Scott I personally think is one of the greatest filmmakers of all time with award-winning films such as Alien, Blade Runner, Gladiator, American Gangster as well as many others. His younger brother (Tony) tells a story that isn't particularly well adapted nor a significant improvement from the horrably made 1988 original. Denzel Washington (as he always does) gives an excellent performance. The story for this movie has alot of simplicity to it along extremely complicated lines including it's somewhat negitive environment (hence the individuals involved and have connections to organized crime to the city-wide kidnappings), Denzel Washington's character plays the key role model of a man simply of which whom had dedicated his life to his job, and fits perfectly with risking whatever within his power to save the little girl in the film (I've seen the movie so long ago I've forgotten the majority of the characters in the film), just overall it most notably shows how many flaws this film has when coming to an adapted screenplay as well as it's direction and shows how Tony Scott has come to ranks below his brothers statis as a filmmaker.

Well casted, great acting, great script. A nice breakout role for Dakota Fanning, and Mr. Walken fails to disappoint. Thank you Tony, this is proof that you won't/don't spend your life in the shadow of your brother. :)

I love this movie, I think that Man on Fire and Training Day are Denzel's best movies. The director, Tony Scott, manages to pull off the coolest art direction I've ever see, the movie is like being on an acid trip it just plays with different angles and subtitles, which is very cool. In my opinion there is a part one and part two to the movie, one is before Pita is kidnapped and then we see the real character development in Denzel's character after she is kidnapped. The movie is tough, it makes you think about what you would do to get the person you care for, back. I highly recommend this movie to anyone who likes dramatic venegence movies. I also recommend American Gangster and Training Day for the Denzel fans. If you're looking for another cool action movie by Tony Scott, Enemy of the State is a good buy.
