Description

LINDA RONSTADT: The Sound of My Voice is a musical biography of one of the most successful and versatile female singers of the 20th century - and one of the most successful recording artists of all time. At the height of unprecedented success, Ronstadt, a restless and adventurous artist, turned away from pop music to explore an astonishing variety of musical styles, from American standards to country to classical operetta before circling back to her family roots with traditional Mexican canciones. Withstanding constant pressure from a risk-averse industry, Linda insisted on following her musical instincts. Today Ronstadt has Parkinson’s disease and her magnificent singing voice has been silenced. But rather than letting that voice be lost to history, Linda Ronstadt: The Sound of My Voice tells Linda’s story through her own words and music, and by such professional colleagues as Dolly Parton, Emmylou Harris, Bonnie Raitt, Jackson Browne, and Aaron Neville, among many others.

Truth be told, I saw commercials for this but was not interested. However not much else was in and I ended up watching it. In hindsight, I’m incredible happy that I did watch this. I loved every second of it and this is not because I was a fan of Linda Ronstadt. In fact, I did not know who Linda Ronstadt was until seeing this. It is a great documentary. Very touching and honest.

What a voice!

Linda is arguably one of thee best female singers/artists of our time. She didn’t rely on outlandish costuming, overtly sexual lyrics, 20+ back up dancers and singers, nor drop from the ceiling wearing a harness. Not saying that Bey and Gaga are not good singers. Just no where near Linda’s ability to embody and embrace the songs she sang. She did everything from rock, opera, canciones, country, bluegrass and pop. Dolly Parton said twice that Linda could sing anything, anything. And yet despite multiple multi platinum back to back albums and numerous grammy’s, she was still was highly insecure about her voice. It was an extremely informative, respectful and touching documentary. I love her even more now.

Great all the way through

One of the few docs on a rock musician that will keep you captivated all the way through. Not only is Linda an incredible talent, but she's also one of the most attractive woman this planet has ever produced. Not surprising the producers had a wealth of material to pick through, so the whole doc is a joy to watch from start to finish.

Special place in my heart...

Wow, what an amazing lady. Such better days back then. We might have gained more now in technology, but we have lost most of our humanity.

Wonderfully done!
