Not That Impressive

I didn't think the soundtrack was that impressive. 1969 so where were the Beatles, The Doors, Jimi Hendrix, The Beachboys, The Yardbirds and Bob Seager? I gave the movie 3 Stars for the ending and the beautiful Pitbull taking out some of the "Demons".
June of 1969 I just returned from a tour with the USMC in Vietnam(1968) and shortly after Demon Manson and his minions committed their savagery even cutting up Sharon Tate and her unborn baby. I liked the happy ending instead of what really happened in true life. WTG Brad, Leonardo and especially "Brandy" the Pitbull. Edited on June 23rd 2021 after I just watched the movie.

I don’t get the hate for this movie, because I personally enjoyed this movie a lot! The actors were fabulous!! The soundtrack was fantastic, the directing was amazing, and I loved how it resembles Hollywood in the 60s. Brad Pitt definitely deserved the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor!! The climax pays off all the build up in the movie. I think this is a great film for Quentin Tarantino, and I loved how he tried to do something different here than in his other works. Overall, I absolutely enjoyed this movie, and I think it deserves those nominations!!

True it’s not a Django , Pulp Fiction or Inglorious bastard’s. More like a Jackie Brown. They have some good plot points. I love the parallel connection between the Manson murders . Love looking for the Easter eggs it every QT film ( how many did you find ). Screw the haters it wasn’t for them anyways it was for us...

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood was the finest and greatest films i have ever witnessed and to be sure this is my favroite movie of all time. And despite it's overlong exprience of 1969 Hollywood the look of that era of filmmaking and hollywood pop cultural is beyond beautiful and something i wanted out of a movie instead of a green screen hidden behind closed cameras not doing there best job, Quentin Tarantino does a fantastic job with the cinematopgraphy and casting choices as well. What's makes this film really well-written and bitter sweet is the fantastic performences from Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio each time there on screen they have the chance to shine.
The film follows our two main characters Rick Dalton (Leonardo DiCaprio) and his stuntman best friend Cliff Booth (Brad Pitt) two of them role around 1960's hollywood and both of them starr in black and white westerns as for Cliff Booth and Rick Dalton spent their jolly days in their manison house and curious of their neighbor the late Sharon Tate (Margot Robbie) and sure Margot Robbie gives a cute performence as Sharon Tate if anyone can play Sharon Tate (Not Hilary Duff) it has to be Margot Robbie because she is a good actress and can pull off a english acent and did a good job protraying Sharon Tate who is the heart of this film and depicks her character as some
kind of love child and a angel to Hollywood.
As for Rick Dalton Leonardo DiCaprio who gave a shining performence as Jordon Belfort in The Wolf of Wall Street to be honest mister DiCaprio didn't had that much character in the film sure i thought the performence from DiCaprio was pure gold i thought playing a western actor wasn't enough for me to exprience Leo's angry performences. And Cliff Booth who is played by the lovable and huggable Brad Pitt who can play really likable characters and Burn After Reading is a good example. Brad Pitt shines as Cliff Booth and his character is undeniably hailrious and cool
to fit with a classic stuntman.
Either way Quentin Tarantino's creative intent into making a film set in 1969 the coolest year of all time he manages to direct many cinematopgraphy chocies that were enjoyable treat. I highly recommend Once Upon a Time In Hollywood it's music choices and acting performences were quite the exprience for me to watch the film more than 5 times and every time i watch the film it still gets my attention.

I want the 2 hours and 40 minutes back that I wasted on this movie. I don’t think I’ve ever been so disappointed by a film. I kept waiting for something to be good about it. Anything. Nothing. This movie is a waste of time and money.

Let’s Get This Out Of The Way

Let’s get this out of the way. If you are someone who needs explosions every 5 seconds, CGI everything, lots of skin to keep your attention, and can either take or leave a plot with a 10-second attention span, you probably won’t like this movie. That’s ok if that’s you, but this movie isn’t that. However, if you like other Tarantino movies, which have a plot, humor, character development, drama, and action, it’s probably a safe bet you’ll enjoy it. I love the characters, their interactions, and most of all, the storytelling that only Tarantino can bring to the screen in his amazing and unique way. I won’t rehash the plot, as you can read that anywhere. The dog Brandy and Brad Pitt’s character Cliff Booth have an awesome relationship in the movie too. This is Tarantino, but different, I’d say warmer. I’d call it a buddy flick, but Tarantino style. The scenery and transformation back to 1969 is incredible as well. I love this movie and it was definitely my favorite of the year, as well as, one of my favorites of all time.

You won’t get that time back

It feels like Tarantino’s version of ‘The Big Lebowski’ with the structure of a cult classic, ‘hang-out’ film. The more I have watched this film, the more I find something new. A comparison to old and gold Hollywood in a thematic element with the films and the actors he has previously worked with as meta comparisons add a nice touch. With the ending being one of his best, if not, the best ending Tarantino has written to date alongside Pulp Fiction’s diner scene with Jules having a revelation. The final act may differ to the true plot of the film early on as well as the final act’s plot was more of a background, sub-plot that feels like the sub culture that hurt the image of more than just the entertainment industry. Much of his meta storytelling on his own films and experiences are compared to some extremist views on today. But like history, people go about it not seeing when extremist thoughts and actions become reality. Too bad real history didn’t have anti-heroes Cliff Booth, Rick Dalton, Sayuri (The doggo), and the innocent Francesca (who literally just arrived in America with husband Rick Dalton).

Hi fans of Quentin Tarantino I’m sad to say this isn’t his best work and the acting by Brad Pitt and Leo is good but the value of the movie is over priced. This movie should be in the price range of $1.99 and should of come with refund option, because wasted my 3 hours watching a movie... Quentin owes everyone a refund. I believe when everyone around you starts to kiss your butt, these are the types of movies you put out there....even Samual L Jackson didn’t want to have any part in this movie.

This movie was great from beginning to end. I hate how reviewers can sway someone from watching a movie. It was a joy to watch. Tarantino is a amazing director that doesn’t always get it right but this was one of those times he did. Taking a real story and putting a spin on it was wonderful. Bravo!

I am 63 and actually grew up in this era, so this movie was spot-on for me. I remember the old 50's westerns, which were nightly syndicated reruns when I was a kid. I remember the spaghetti westerns, and I remember going to the movies with my dad to see the Matt Helm movies. This was a time of transitions: the end of one era and the beginning of another.
I found this movie fascinating and enjoyed it immensely. It rang a few old bells, and brought back so many bittersweet memories. I was very impressed with the depth and the detail of Tarantino's vision. He got that era just right. I know; I was there.

Being locked at home thought I’d watch a movie. Picked because of actors and they got some kind of award. No plot! No action! No acting. It was like watching a series of trailers. If you want to see a movie with real acting and make up, see Vice. Didn’t like the movie that much, but the guy who played Cheney was amazing.

The acting is done well, but the story is severely lacking. I couldn’t help but think that this was Tarantino simply reminiscing to the Hollywood of yesteryear. In the end he tries to make sense of it all by including the Manson family. Total flop.

At least you could say a b movie director might be making their first attempt.
For someone like Quentin Tarantino though he should be embarrassed to make this level of worthlessness.
Same with Pitt and DiCaprio.
I only finished watching out of disbelief and a hope that I was getting ready to witness an amazing turnaround but just 2 and a half hours completely wasted time.

Okay, so I haven’t seen any of the Kill Bill movies. Meh, haven’t seen any of the Matrix or Harry Potter films either — and cool with it. So, yeah, preordered Once Upon. Wow, big mistake... The movie is a jumbled mess - sorry sort of to those who thought it was the bee’s knees or cats meow. Will never know whether Q.T. changed his approach to script writing or “whatever,” but man, it just didn’t flow the way any of his previous films did. Anyrod, your mileage may vary.

I’m a huge fan of Quentin Tarantino films and also know a lot about the stories surrounding the Manson Family murders. I went into this movie with an open mind, but expecting a slow-burn story with lots of dialogue and fascinating stories that would interconnect throughout the film, as usual with all of Quentins previous movies. But this is just NOT it. Everything that happened up until the last 15 minutes had no relevance of any kind and actually got really hard to watch because it was well and truly BORING. Sure, the ending had action and violence, but that’s not what made it the only highlight of the entire 3 hours. It’s because something, anything, was FINALLY happening. Something that actually had my attention. And it’s also not that the whole story was confusing or hard to understand, there was just NOTHING to understand or dissect. It was pointless. Nothing had any relevancy to anything at any point in time. I really expected better from Tarantino. 2 days later I am still just absolutely astonished that he actually made a movie THIS bad. Just don’t watch it. It’s a waste of time and will damage your trust in Quentins ability to make good movies anymore. If you actually found this movie good somehow, more power to you I guess. Otherwise, I advise everybody else to just NOT watch it.

A group of us watched this movie in anticipation that we’d be in for a great surprise. Well most of the movie someone was asking what in the heck was going on and what the point of the movie was. I feel like this movie had a pretty lackluster script and we were not quite sure how Oscars were received for this movie. Definitely should have read other negative reviews prior to purchasing this movie.

This movie had a star studded cast but somehow failed to deliver as a movie worth watching. The film felt like it was trying to tell three stories at once and didn’t do it well at all. When it comes to great films, the first thing I do is look at all the negative reviews. And just about every single time, the reviewer has no idea of the intention of the film. Or the reviewer walks in thinking this film is transformers. please. This film was purposely not made to have a significant plot. this film was not made to put you on the edge of your seat the entire time. that’s not QTs intention. I won’t get into all the incredible reasons as to why this film is so great. Is it his best film? Of course not. You cannot judge a movie based on previous films, though we all have a tendency to do so. I get it. To truly understand why this film is fanatic, you have to search google and find interviews where QT explains the film. it’s absolutely brilliant. your average movie goer will never get it.

Everyone is clamoring over Tarantino’s movie but the emperor is not wearing any clothes. Tarantino’s former editor & collaborator Sally Menke was a far better editor - she would have cut out a lot of fat in this movie. There are too many scenes where nothing is clearly happening. Tarantino needs a new editor & he needs to stop being a racist writer.

Let’s be honest here, take away the star power and Tarantino hype and this film wouldn’t make it into your living rooms much make it into movie theaters. If you are going into this move, expecting another pulp fiction or inglorious basterds, I hate to disappoint but this is one of Tarantino’s worse movies he has ever made! They pull you in from the trailer making you think that it might be a fairy tail story similar to inglorious basterds, but in reality it’s his own love letter to Hollywood.... not plot line, nothing leading up to some great story. It’s nothing but a bunch of events happening in 1969. So if you want to be bored for 2 hours and 41 minutes, be my guest.

This is not one of the "greats". Most of the movie is mastubatory and you will wish the end scence, you know is coming, will just arrive. It is insanity but this movie lack the slow burn of Hateful 8 and the layers of Inglorious Basterds (spelling?). Honestly my biggest beef, is how much we, the audience, watch actors, watch movies - and Brad Pitt drive around. There we no characters - just actors "acting".

Not real impressed

First of all, Leo and Brad are geniuses no matter what script they are handed, they play their part great. As far as the plot, there was so many scenes in the movie that seemed like it was just killing time or made absolutely no sense. Seriously youre watching and wondering what’s the point of this scene, this plot is going no where, this movie its kinda stupid. Has it funny points and couple dramatic scenes. But the best part is seriously the last 10min of the movie. And it took 2 hours of nonsense to build up to a stupid plot ending. Movie was pretty horrible, plot was ridiculous, Leo always delivers. But still, rent it, don’t buy it. Maybe don’t even waste your time and don’t watch it because youre not missing much. Just keeping it real.

Don’t waste your money

A movie about Hollywood types for Hollywood types, not entertaining for a general audience. I fell asleep during one of many boring conversations between the main characters the night before, making it a two evening movie. If I hadn't paid for the movie, I wouldn't have finished it.

God awful

I cannot begin to understand why this movie receives such great reviews, it’s slow and completely pointless. Great acting, but a terrible story line.

Disappointing

There is no plot to this movie. It's Brad and Leo acting cool for 2 1/2 hours.
Sharon Tate serves no purpose in the film, other than to place the story in the realm of 1960's Hollywood.
There are dozens of real and fictioal "cameos" that mean nothing.
The historical rewriting at the end of the movie dishonors, rather than celebrates, the Manson Family victims.

No stars

I fell asleep in a Quentin Tarantino movie. Maybe it was a spell casting experience they did.....because I can’t even tell you how and why I fell asleep. This by far is the worst movie of 2019. I still can’t believe the budget was 90 million. This movie should have cost 2 million to make. Brad and Leo were funny at times....but not 90 million funny. They should have made Jackie Brown 2....for that 90 million.

Tarantino's best work yet

Very entertaining couple days in the life of 2 best friends in 1969. Some say it starts off slow, but i strongly disagree. I'm a big fan of long high-quality dialogue, and character building. This movie executes that perfectly and also you feel as if you're in 1969, Tarantino used no CGI in the world he built for this movie. To everyone who worked on this movie, thank you for your fantastic work❤️❤️❤️

What Once Upon a Time in Hollywood was is a overlay stylization Of The Infamous Charles Manson murders done by none other then Quinten Tarantino! Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, Al Pacino, Margot Robbie And Kurt Russell give engaging performances! I see this one as Oscar Worthy! That’s Hollywood Folks!

Pointless

This was possibly the worst movie I’ve ever watched. Absolute nonsense in terms of plot and the only good thing you can say about it is the actors generally did a good job with a worthless script. The last few minutes of the movie were the best, but it took 2 hrs of “what tf am I watching” to get there! That’s it 🤷‍♂️

I wish I could give it no stars. History rewritten and Sharon Tate and her groupies still alive but old. It's basically a comedy routine for Brad and Leanardo. Watch the trailer 60 times, much better.

‘Once Upon a Time in... Hollywood’ is my favorite writer/director of all time Quentin Tarantino’s 9th film in his career aka his second to last film in his career. A faded television actor Rick Dalton (Leonardo DiCaprio) and his stunt double Cliff Booth (Brad Pitt) strive to achieve fame and success in the film industry during the final years of Hollywood's Golden Age in 1969 Los Angeles. If you can tell that filmmakers are obsessed with movies by watching their movies, this is the filmmaker you’d love. This is Tarantino’s love-letter to the 1960s Los Angeles; the settings, the locations, and how it portrays the films from the 1950s-60s. Leonardo DiCaprio’s performance as this troubled actor having a transition from TV to Film is phenomenal and very comical. In my opinion, Brad Pitt is the BESTS part of the movie, he gets most of the best lines and comedic moments. My favorite performance from him since ‘Fight Club’. I thought Margot Robbie’s screen time as Sharon Tate was very limited; she was there where she needed to be. This is has to be one of the greatest soundtracks I’ve ever listened to in any film. Despite mixed thoughts of the ending of the movie... I absolutely LOVED it! I ENJOYED IT! I can’t wait to see this movie again! 8.4/10.

Is Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood Tarantino's best movie? No. That title still belongs to Pulp Fiction. Is it his second best movie? Maybe, but it still might be Django Unchained. Is this movie rewatchable? No. But is it good? Yes. Is it great? Yes. Is it perfect? No, but it also depends on who you talk to, because Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood is one of the best films to come out in recent memory that capsulate the golden era of Hollywood in a way that no other movie has. This movie has incredibly sharp writing that is handled perfectly by the direction of Quentin and the strong performances by the entire cast, minor and major. Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt really do give a career best here. Margot Robbie is great and is perfect as Sharon Tate. Everyone here is great. By all accounts, this has all the qualities of an amazing movie: the editing is stylized and helps the pace, the cinematography by Robert Richardson is impeccable, productions design and costume is just... ugh, perfection. And to most cinephiles, this is amongst some of the best that cinema has to offer... so why is it that Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood will go down as Tarantino's most divisive movie? That's actually really easy to answer. While this is by no means a bad movie, the level of enjoyment one will be able to get out of it solely remains on the individual: the viewer. To me, this is a 8/9 out of 10, until the final fifteen minutes takes it home to a 10. I am also well-versed, and well-informed on most of the history and references that this movie revolves around. I found enjoyment in the small to large bits of every day Hollywood life, whether it be realizing your glory days are behind you, leaving you, or are just about to start. The movie's story is pretty much non-existent, and instead, chooses to be a slice of life style movie, which IS NOT A BAD THING when done right... which it does. Truly, this is an amazingly well-executed movie who's quality matches no other... TO ME. Now if you are a casual movie goer--LIKE MY FRIEND, WHOM I SAW THE MOVIE WITH--your level of enjoyment might vary HARD. This is a slow movie made by a director who indulges in his craft and has made a movie dedicated to the time in which he derives most of his inspiration from. The runtime is 2hr 41mins and it feels like that sometimes. Also, to note, A LOT of stars are in this movie, and a lot of them have very little screen time. Now if you are that casual viewer, you will still find yourself looking at a 7/10 movie, from your perspective. NO JOKE, THE FINAL 15 MINUTES ARE INCREDIBLE. If you are slightly familiar with Tarantino's work, and your favorite movies of his are Django Unchained and Inglorious Basterds, you'll still find yourself with an 8/10 movie, because while it holds all the trademarks of a Tarantino Picture, it does lack (FOR THE MOST PART) that intense violence that most of us are familiar with. There's simulated violence, sure, but it's nothing that we're usually accustomed to. So to fully recap, what kind of movie do we have here? We have a historical fiction from a violent director, with (almost) no violence, indulges in its lengthy (almost) 3 hour runtime, with a story that really goes no where, that is saved by its themes, amazing performances, sharp writing, impeccable directing, solid production design, beautiful cinematography, and the final 15 minutes. Your enjoyment of this movie relies solely on you. I love this movie. I had an amazing time with it. Will you?
