John Goldman killed this role! Such a good actor. But this movie is such a great suspense thriller. And especially in the 20teens where most of the movies are super hero and animated, it's refreshing to see an actual film come out. Now, I'm not sure how related to Clovefield this is but you don't have to see these two back to back, it's not like a sequel, prequel thing. These are two separate movies and should be thought of as such. Now, I agree with most and that the ending of this movie doesn't quite make sense, but it doesn't ruin the main structure of the movie. Everything moment spent in that bunker is filled with tensions and uncertainty... and I love it. I would put this in the vein of 127 hours in all honesty. Much like some of my favorite episodes of Doctor Who (Midnight) where it boils down to a couple of dynamic characters stuck in a room, what do you do?

I found myself so focused and entertained with Goodman's character that I completely forgot to care about what they were hiding from in the first place! The ending makes you ask yourself......are you better dealing with something or someone you are familiar with or risk it dealing with the unknown?? This is a rent before you buy kind of movie.

This movie was so astonishing and with only 3 characters in the whole movie, wow, and the very last scene of the movie made it even better.

I rented this movie a while back and today I remembered that it was going to expire soon.

But in the iTunes it showed 15 days to expire. I thought it was odd to have that many days remaining but I went ahead and pressed the play button.

Then a popup came up saying this movie was not authorized to play on this mac or something like that. But I know I rented this movie on this mac and downloaded the movie already on this mac.

I pressed the play button again and then another popup showed up saying this movie is expired.

What? How can it expire with 15 days remaining? I don't want to go through the hassle of waiting and talking to the rep on the phone for 30 minutes for a few bucks!

What just happened?!!!😟

This movie was a huge letdown… Bad and pointless storyline along with terrible acting. Don't waste your time

After seeing the fist 30-40 minutes, the movie kept buffering after a 1-2 seconds. The rental period ended. iTunes downloaded again for me. Tried multiple times to watch this movie. When I click on play, I keep getting this message: "we could not complete your iTunes store request. An unknown error occurred (5002). There was an error in the iTunes store. Please try again later". I tried for at least 2 days. Just kept getting this message . iTunes downloaded again for me, but I could not get it to play. I wish I didn't see the beginning because I don't know how it ends. If I could just the last few minutes, I'd be happy with that. I never had this problem before. I have no problem connecting with the iTunes store - as long as I don't try to play the movie. I even had the iTunes store open in a separate window (double clicked rental) but I just got that message. Has anyone else experienced this problem? iTunes can't correct the problem. I guess I'm done with any movies on iTunes.

Waste of time and money

I agree with almost all of the most critical (ie, one star) reviews posted here on iTunes. Boring, hackneyed, disastrous final 10 minutes, stupid cliches of monster/alien/sci-fi genre, terrible script, all build-up and no pay-off, etc. How many ways can you kill a movie? Well, apparently, a lot more than you can kill off despicable characters in this clunker. I am giving it 1.5 stars wholly on the premise and promising beginning.... up until we meet what's his face... that idiot with the trucker hat (I have forgotten all the forgettable names of the actors here) that was in the bunker before what's her face (the girl with a flat chest that the director tried ever so hard to "show off" - who does that except for directors/producers that know their script is incomprehensibly bad and must make up for it with so-called sex-factor of its lead actress? Why not just hire Leelee, you know what I mean??). I am writing a terrible and blubbering review, I admit it, because that is how I feel - no, better put, that is how my brain is unable to put a coherent thought together after watching this trash. That has to be one of the most disappointing and idiotic endings ever filmed. I loathe how all the set-up and character building devolves - that's right, the opposite of evolution - into deplorable alien forces!! I hate it!! Man, do I hate it.

Ridiculous ending!

I purposely went in unprepared and was pleasantly surprised. Truly great yet simple premise with a some great twists.

I must have watched something else given all these superb reviews. I went and seen it in theaters and left disappointed. The previews showed a better movie. It was a pretty good thriller/suspense movie, but the ending ruined it for me. Felt added on at the last minute, maybe if it had been expanded upon. Check it out, it's not an awful movie, just kinda unfair to call it Cloverfield given the first one.

I don't often leave a review but felt compelled once I wasted my money on this terrible movie.

The premise was interesting and the movie could have been good....but the director must have said " hold everything guys, we're way over budget here, anyone have any ideas?"

And thus the awful ending leaving you thinking ..... "wow I just wasted 2 hours and 6 bucks"

Trust me.... don't waste your money just ask anyone that made the same mistake I did and ask the, what they think.

When I rented this movie, I thought it would have some kind of relation to the first Cloverfield, but there wasn't. I still think that it was an Ok/Good movie for a crime story, but then there was the ending (spoilers ahead). You could pretty much tell that Emmet was going to die because he is not one of the main characters (main and side character I mean) and if he did live past that, he wouldn't live outside for very long with the aliens. Another thing is that the girl (not very good with names in movies/ TV shows/real life) was able to destroy an alien ship all by herself. What I don't get is how she destroyed the ship by herself, while apparently the military all over the freaking world couldn't stop the invasion... It just doesn't make sense... I highly doubt that there will be another Cloverfield movie after all this... ⭐️⭐️⭐️••

Upon hearing Cloverfield, you think you know what movie is about but the ending was not what I expected. Gripping and exciting, I thought it was a good watch with some exciting moments!

I Don't Think This Is A Sequel To The Cloverfeild Movie A While Back But What It Was, Is a Fracked Up Jacked Up Insane Film!

What kind of monster would cause a vehicle accident and absconded with an innocent woman? Right out of today's headlines, you quickly see through his story of an alien invasion and get involve with this psychoogical thriller. John Goodman is a genius in this role.

Excellent primer for those who love hating survivalists.

This was BBAAAAAADDDD!!! It was slow, boring, uninteresting and so much more! Don't watch, bad bad bad!

Now I’m a huuuuge Cloverfield fan so you could imagine I almost pooped myself when I heard this film was coming out (I know this is not a sequel but within the same universe the first film). The movie was fantastic and I have little to complain about EXCEPT the ending. Really?? An alien hound and a ufo that sprays toxic gas? Nah fam gimme Clover back. Good film.

But that might be because it hit a lot of triggers with me. The woman did a great job acting, the screen writers did a subtle and nuanced portrayal. And the ending was perfect. I will not say it is EVERYONE's cup of tea, but I certainly do not regret the money I spent on this.

Great actor ... Boring and predictable

Really got into this movie, but the end was such a departure from the rest of the movie.

Enjoyed this immensely - started out thinking it was an abduction movie turned into much more. John Goodman plays a great part as the moody Howard who "saves" Emmett and Michelle - starts off a bit slow but the last half and ending make up for it in spades.

first the movie has the worst plot ever, and everything is predictable ... Till the end , it has the hugest plot twist ever, adding sci-fi/ alien creatures into the ending made the plot fall drastically. I don't recall aliens being mentioned in the story (correct me if I'm wrong ) but I felt like throwing them in changed the mood of the film, a build up on the whole thing would have been more comfortable, no it goes from "let me escape this psycho safe house with a man who protects me but will kill me to boom I now can kill aliens and its whole ship with a bottle of booze so let me save the whole population of blank(was it Denver?)"And the character change went from 0-100 in .2 seconds first the women is terrified of breathing toxic air, now all of a sudden she's brave enough to safe a whole city on her own

A must see! Hope they make another one!!

This movie had everything I needed a hot girl, an iPhone, nuclear war, great music, john goodman, it was funny, and more. I have watched it 6 to 7 times.

The only reason I wouldn't buy it, is because the suspense of not knowing is the primary entertainment of the film. Once you know all the answers, it loses its "watch it again" appeal. It does set the stage for a very interesting and totally different sequel. If you are a Goodman fan then it is probably a buy. For pure edge of your seat entertainment this is a must watch.

This movie was absolutely awful. Towards the end of the movie, I was praying for the apocalypse here on earth to end my agony.

Omg what a suspenseful movie !!! The ending was good!!!

In 10 Cloverfield Lane you see Goodman reprising his role as The Big Lebowski's Walter with dramatic effect while giving his best Norman Bates impression. Goodman plays the inn keeper with secrets. Is what we're seeing real? Does he have schizophrenia? What's really happening? I'm not going to give spoilers but, the set up for this is classic and brilliant as if out of a Hichcock film. Suspenseful and dark. All in all great cliff hangers within a worth while movie.

I think John Goodman swallowed them both at dinner with his meal and we were shown an alternate ending.

It's perfectly well conceived and keeps you guessing, until and ending that we've seen many times before borrowing from other films.

BUT...Mary Elizabeth Winstead, conjuring her inner Ripley, carries the movie superbly!

Like getting a Mustang when you expected a Toyota!

Being from Louisiana, I'm overflowing with pride right now...

But all biases aside this movie more than delivered.

The suspense was ever present, the dialogue was crisp and natural, only amplified by fluid performances and a great set of actors.

The main protagonist is powerful in the sense that you form a strong connection... I think it's safe to say I'm crushing on her...

In all seriousness though, Mary Elizabeth gave an outstanding performance as a kick-a...

Just watch the movie. Don't expect your usual sorry sequel aiming to squeeze petty cash out of something which already exists... This movie is a separate entity and a great one at that.

If you like psychological thrillers with a touch of Sci-fi; this movie is for you! I hate most movies lately. Everything has been total garbage. This movie made up for all the crap I wasted my time on.

Major psychological thriller. I honestly didn't move or even look at my phone once (the horror); through the entire movie. Goodman is the king! This was SUCH A good movie; especially if you don't like all the mainstream crap that's out now.

Just finished watching and my oh my... It is good. The bait and switch tactic was needed because is is a suspenseful movie and not a "monster" horror movie and wouldn't have sold as it did, but I forgive it because it's that good. The last act puts you on the edge of your seat, very entertaining all through though. Should you watch it? Yes

It's a great movie that suddenly becomes REALLY great.

I almost skipped this movie because the critics tore apart the ending. After all our heroine's survival skills, I expected the critics meant they hated the ending because after surviving the abduction of a human predator, she would be out in the open and quickly disposed of by aliens. She is one crafty gal, and I hope there is a sequel to see if she made the right choice where the two roads divided.

Artificial characters, embarrassing clichés, a silly unbelievable story, a barefoot woman for fetishists and a ridiculous ending that ruined it all. Nevertheless, the production company did a good job, especially considering the "good reviews" here. It seems that everybody who participated in this movie was sentenced to write a great review. Apple should really stop this kind of surreptitious advertising.

Just a heads up... some jackass left a review spoiling the entire ending of the movie. Really wish I hadn't read that review prior to watching the movie. With that said, this movie was excellent in every way possible. The acting, writing and pacing of the movie were spot on. Love John Goodman!

This motion picture was originally filmed and in the can when, for various reasons, it was decided to be turned into a Cloverfield sequel. (Google that whole situation at your leisure) The original storyline - a woman wakes up in a homemade bunker with a man who claims that a nuclear war/invasion has started. Is he a crazy conspiracy nut or a man who had the foresight to plan for worst?

This back-story explains the problems with the storyline of the ‘new’ film.

Example 1 – in the opening scene, the female character is frantically packing her belongings during which you hear a distant explosion and her home visibly shakes. Is she leaving because of military bombings? Is it an attack by a huge creature? No, she’s breaking up with her boyfriend and she has NO reaction to the explosion or the subsequent shaking. Example 2 - no one in the film, not even the man who built the bunker, is sure why there was an attack but the theory is that it was an invasion by a foreign military power. Of course a large extraterrestrial creature tearing up NYC might be a possible explanation but that is never mentioned.

Knowing the history of the film, it is very clear which scenes were later added. I gave it three stars but I would have rated it higher if the studio left it alone and followed the original storyline.

Perhaps I had too high of expectations for this film. The female lead's acting seemed a bit off to me; she didn't get me enthralled enough to get me interested in what was going on. John Goodman did an okay job, but his acting was a bit off for me too. The only thing I like about this movie is that it plays out as a mystery/psychological thriller, trying to figure out if Goodman is crazy or not. But there is definitely elements missing here that keeps it from being just okay, and too far away from being great. Overall, I think this movie is pretty boring and drab.

It's definitely worth seeing! And it's with your money:) Perfect movie to cuddle with food and your fav blanket!

Very powerful themes in this excellently crafted and intelligent film. People saying the ending doesn't make sense simply don't know what the movie is about. The entire film is an analogy of domestic abuse and fighting to be free. The last 15 minutes (no spoilers) are incredibly important in wrapping up Michelle's arc and establishing the message the film is trying to convey. Anyone who can't see this should go back to watching Michael Bay movies.

I was on the edge of my seat the majority of the movie. Sure it slowed down, but this movie gives you that suspenseful thrill that isn't in enough movies today

I gave this movie 4 stars, because of what I consider a 'bait and switch.' For obvious reasons, I was expecting more of a connection to "Cloverfield" (I understand that there are elements in this movie that tie into that picture, but those connections are obscure at best).

The bottom line is that this motion picture really does feel like one movie that had an ending that was attached later, when JJ Abrams saw an opporunity to make a connection to "Cloverfield."

With all that being said, if you watch this movie, expecting a taught suspenseful drama, you will very much enjoy the picture. Just do not go into it expecting a strong tie to "Cloverfield"

Nearly the whole movie takes place inside a doomsday bunker. Sounds boring, and yet it is extremely exciting, fun, and unpredictable. The twists and turns might leave you dizzy, yet you'll be satisfied in the end!

This movie came out of nowhere, the first one was an interesting first person alien thriller and always wondered if they would ever make a sequel. Two months before release date a trailer was shown. In all reality this is how movies should be made, it was instant, saw it, loved it, everyone says the ending is off the wall, but this just totally leaves wondering who was right all along, despite what the movie tells you about all characters.

Very original movie. A great take on the monster movie genre, and it pulled off the "you rarely see the monster" even better than its inspiration. Goodman says it perfectly in the extras: He got to play a version of himself. It was obvious that he slipped into the role effortlessly.

You'll love this, you'll watch it multiple times, and you'll want to know when the next chapter is coming.

First time film director Dan Trachtenberg comes flying out of the gate with one hell of a thriller, 10 Cloverfield Lane is a "spiritual successor" to the indie-hit Cloverfield, which came to us a few years back from the brilliant minds over at Bad Robot (J.J. Abrams). There isn't really much I can go into about this film without spoiling some aspect of it (and honestly the best way to experience it is knowing as little as humanly possible) but I will say the writing, acting, camera work, and maybe most-importantly the pacing were all top-notch. The tie-in to the Cloverfield universe was brilliant and only ends up adding another layer to what would have easily been one of my favorite thrillers of the year, even if you remove the Cloverfield angle...

Do yourself a favor: grab a blanket, cook up some popcorn (or order a delicious pizza), snuggle up on the couch next to your favorite significant other, and rent 10 Cloverfield Lane on iTunes - be prepared to be entertained from the very first to the very last frame!

I've seen it 3 times in theaters and have all the posters, I LOVE this movie

Truly one of the best films I've ever seen, 10 Cloverfield Lane is so special to me because of its knack to continue to surprise me. From the films first trailer to the end credits, it literally never stopped surprising me with its excellent storytelling, stellar cast, eye-popping visual effects, and re-occurring surprises. I can honestly say it has matched my love for Super 8, and I can't wait to see what else J.J. Abrams comes up with next!

It was a great intelligent thriller movie! I know some people say the last bit was out of context, for me it was cool, you knew there was something so I thought it was cool and watching 2 movies for the price of one.

So if you like movies where it builds up the tension this is it! Go see it before it's too late!

This was a true masterpiece. I loved how unpredictable it was. The acting was incredible ( especially John Goodman ) and the story was very well-written. I refuse to say anymore because I don't want to spoil anything but trust me when I say that this film is flawless and will be watched for generations. 10/10

I wish that it had tiny monsters like in the original Cloverfield film.

This movie truly deserves every bit of hype it's given, it really is incredible. I have never seen John Goodman act this terrifying in a role ever, and even if you don't like the rest of the movie, at least watch it for the sake of seeing his acting; it's disturbingly good. It's claustrophobic, the sound editing was just as good, when something big happened, you really felt like it happened right next to you in the theater. Probably one of the best movies of 2016 so far!
