Description

Award-winning actress Drew Barrymore shares funny, insightful, and profound stories from her past and present told from the place of happiness she's achieved today.

Wildflower is a portrait of Drew's life in stories as she looks back on the adventures, challenges, and incredible experiences of her earlier years. It includes tales of living on her own at 14 (and how laundry may have saved her life), getting stuck in a gas station overhang on a cross country road trip, saying goodbye to her father in a way only he could have understood, and many more adventures and lessons that have led her to the successful, happy, and healthy place she is today. It is the first book Drew has written about her life since the age of 14.

Honest yet Uplifting!!!!

I thoroughly enjoyed Drew Barrymore's lovely book! Some of her life lessons truly resonated with me. Rather than some bitter celebrity's diatribe against all who have wronged her, I was inspired by her overcoming spirit. Experiences in her personal life and very public career would have ruined many. Drew has chosen the HIGH ROAD of love and faith. For this I commend her!

Worth the read!

I could not put this book down! I am a mom of two young boys with little time to read a book and I read it in a week! Drew truly wrote from her heart. I will forever wonder what happened to Edith...I hope she I still doing well to this day.

Bed, Head, Nothing Said

Bed, Head, Nothing Said
Most single men would love to get Drew Barrymore in bed. But, to hear her tell it, few have tried to get into her head. I had the opportunity to do both by listening to this book while at bedtime.
Drew is a screamer. While that's usually fun and encouraging, not so much when you only have her in audible form and you're listening while falling asleep. And she does it often. It's funny, as intended, at first. But after a while it tends to grate. That may be one of the reasons her third marriage is said to be ending.
And that's the main point. By the end of the book you realize that the screams may be echoing because there isn't much between her ears to begin with. She tries to be pithy and deep but it comes across as trite and disjointed. F bombs galore and other assorted Valley girlisms don't help. She also has a thinly veiled hatred of men that makes you realize she's probably a lesbian but hasn't fully faced it. The empty-headed Maisy bird cartoon of a mother at the beginning of the book is cited as if she has Yoda's wisdom of the ages in the end of the book and you realize many of the thoughts and memories Barrymore recites could not be remembered after 35 years. All in all she only proves to be the cliché of an Africa-slumming, bubble-gum chewing philosopher actress whose money and looks bought her businesses, husbands and a life that is illusion. It is a bitter one though as her teeth rottingly sweet epilogue of having the IDEAL in laws and PERFECT husband and GENIUS children and WONDERFUL marriage turns out to be just another knocked up at the altar and divorced months after her glowing comments reality. With two someday rich daughters who will repeat the curse of the Barrymores in tow.
Don't listen in bed. Get real wisdom in your head and become better read elsewhere. There's nothing really said in the seedy garden of Drew's wildflowers.

Loved it!

I could not put it down. Like she says, she's a storyteller. I've recently read a bunch of books by other females actors (Tina Fey, Mindy Kaling, Amy Poehler, Ellen) and this book by Drew Barrymore is my favorite out of them all.

Wildflower

Sweet, thoughtful stories of one of my favorites. I always thought she is adorable and now adorable X 100. You will chuckle, laugh and cry. I read while on a short trip to Boston. A easy, comfortable read that went by too fast.

Wildflower

Great and enjoyable read! Drew shared her life experiences, lessons learned and how she overcame hardships, in a positive and fun way. I am inspired to be better, and try to find the positive instead of focusing on the down side. Wildflower is so down to earth and unpretentious. If you didn't know Drew Berrymore was the author, you would think you were reading the journal of a best friend.
