Description

Gypsy-Rose Blanchard discovered that her whole life was a lie. After eight-and-a-half years of incarceration, she can finally tell you the truth—with this exclusive collection of interview transcripts and journal entries, plus her own illustrations and photos.

While incarcerated for her role in her mother’s death, Gypsy saw her story told by others again and again in the media, from news reports and podcasts to TV series like The Act (Hulu). Now, granted early parole and preparing to start a new life, she’s free to speak directly to her supporters and the world.

Falsely told that she suffered from debilitating, chronic illnesses, Gypsy grew up enduring physical and emotional abuse at the hands of her mother Dee Dee, including unnecessary medication and surgery. But her desperate attempts to escape a lifetime of isolation led Gypsy into the grip of another abuser, ultimately resulting in her mother’s murder.

Released is Gypsy’s frank, unflinching, and deeply personal reflection on her past, present, and hoped-for future, and includes:
Exclusive interviews with Gypsy recorded during her time in prisonGypsy’s contemplative writing on trust and betrayal, love and freedom, self-worth and identity, prison life, her marriage, and other personal issuesPersonal photos, drawings, and other memories from years past
Created with writers Melissa Moore and Michele Matrisciani, Released is a declaration of Gypsy’s resolve to turn her pain into perseverance, take accountability for her actions, and help others escape the trap that circumscribed her life for so long.

Nothing new

If you saw documentaries and the shows/movies you read this book. The only new I saw was just 3 pictures that’s it.

Meh…

I was hoping this book had some aspects to it that maybe the world didn’t know already, but since everything has been plastered all over the internet, there was nothing in this book that already isn’t known to the public.

Phenomenal , raw and REAL!

Gypsy, thank you for sharing your life, your family, and your truth with us. There were so many things that not only I could relate to in a sense, but valuable insight and advice that I will hold onto in times when I'm struggling with self worth, self doubt and personal hardships.
I found myself tearing up in the chapter of faith and God, because it was surely a message I needed to hear and a great reminder that Gods got you. He has a plan for you and will not forsake you.

Long lost best friend.

I remember seeing Gypsy on TV all the way from Ohio! It a wild how far I’ve watched her live her life! It’s also scary to think all this time she was a prisoner of her own home. I respect the Heck out of Gypsy. Although I don’t know her but hope one day I would have the pleasure to meet that girl I have followed since the beginning! I know ppl always say these things but I genuinely am so happy for you & her new life she gets to start over. If you ever read this Gypsy know I am always here for you! { after all one of my cats are named after you 🫣😂}. Trust goes a long way & ppl have proved who they are time & time again! Much love to you! I’m ready for the next book. I also have a tendency to defend you. Whether I am wrong or not. I WALK BESIDE YOU! Thank you for sharing your story & being brave for those who are struggling. You’re a blessing.

The True Gypsy Rose

After watching several documentaries and of course The Act… I have been interested in Gypsies’ story and life. As soon as the book was released at midnight on the 9th, I started reading it. Finding out her story and everything she has been through truly lets me know that God designed her for his work and for a higher purpose. This book tells the true story of Gypsy and was truly inspiring! Keep up the outstanding work that God has set out for you Gypsy! He defiantly is proud of you.

Not bad.

Parts of this book were insightful..but..I was hoping for a little more from it. Much of this felt incohesive and incomplete. I knew this book was meant to be more of a reflection than anything but it missed the mark for me. I do wish Gypsy the best in her new journey, though!

Powerful

There is something for anyone & everyone to learn from this book about life, living, the importance of authenticity & understanding our human nature. Deep down, we all want to be better people, to those we love & to ourselves, because it’s already hard enough being human. Some of us have just had bigger & better chances to improve ourselves before making too big of a mistake, but we can’t let that take away from what’s truly important after all is said & done: to “bloom where we stand.”
