This book was entertaining the entire way through I thoroughly enjoyed

This is such an amazing book, I just couldn’t put it down! Normally I spend my free time playing video games but this book had me putting down the mouse and keyboard to read the hours away. I’ll definitely be reading the rest of this series and the author’s other books!

And didn’t disappoint! It keeps you in its clutches and leaves you not wanting to put it down. I’m leaving this review after reading the next one in the series and have pre-ordered the third book. Read it. I PROMISE you, you’ll devour it. Perfect amount of heroine, spice and everything nice.

I could not put this book down! I don’t typically lean towards these books but my sister was begging me to read it and I was hooked in no time! I read this book in 3 days because I could not get enough! So excited to start the second one!

I highly recommend reading this series, I couldn’t put it down. I hate when a book makes the female needy and everything falling back on the man to fix everything. This book does nothing of the sort. Violet’s character forms into a strong women who I came to admire. I won’t go into details so I don’t give any spoilers but seriously read the book for yourself

I am not a big reader. In order for me to read a book it has to catch my attention immediately for me to even continue it. This book did exactly that! I never thought I would even be into a genre like this. I couldn’t stop reading! This book is a must read!

So good!! It was entertaining and action packed. It took a little bit of time to get into it but once I did I couldn’t put the book down.

It took me a while to get into it…I started it, put it down, then picked it back up months later. And once I picked it back up, I could not put it down!

This book is wonderful. You will fall in love with these characters and their stories. Highly recommend

The last time I read a book for fun was ages ago. One fine day I came across this book and decided to give it a go. A few chapters in and I was hooked. I couldn’t put it down! Violet is smart, crafty and doesn’t shy away from a challenge. Xaden is ruthless, loyal and ready to fight for what he believes in no matter the cost. The dragons and their personalities intrigued me as well. I had to order Iron Flame immediately. This book series got me back into reading.

Simply superb

I wasn’t sure about this book at first, since I normally don’t read things involving too much romance. However, once I started reading, I couldn’t put it down. Read it in about a day and a half, and just before writing this, I purchased the second book.

One of the best books I’ve read in a long time. Could not put it down, and felt completely immersed in everything that was going on. Wish I could read 46 books just like it.

Couldn’t keep this book down! Granite I had to because I didn’t have iron flame yet and immediately wanted to start it. But so good such a thrilling. Story

This book hooked me on the first chapter. This was my first attempt at a fantasy romance and boy was it a good pick. This book started my whole romantasy journey. I love the FMC and her story line, even if she seemed a little frail at times. The MMC gave all the right vibes and the spicy moments did not disappoint. The dragons were definitely the high point of the story for me. Their relationship with their riders, how they choose their riders…everything. I enjoyed every aspect from the side characters, magical system, and plot. Favorite series hands down.

Man oh man this is a fun read!

All it took to read through this book between bites of food and work duties. I Could not put it down. So good!

Had so much trouble putting it down. It seemed like there was a new looming threat, dark turn or fluttering heart beat on every page that kept me staying up late and waking up early to read.

I couldn’t stop, I immediately downloaded the second one.

I can’t for the life of me understand why this series is so popular. I feel like I just read a poorly written fan fiction using identifiable plot points form a bunch of other books. Very specific plot points too not just tropes. And the writing style was truly painful to read. I basically powered through for the trashy entertaining love story but everything about this book was not well written. Don’t recommend.

Amazing read I’m about to reread it again

Don’t be like me, who put off reading this book for months, because it is not one of my usual genres. Find a soft chair and get ready to be encompassed by Fourth Wing and Rebecca Yarros’ world. I understand book 3 isn’t out until January 2025 - that feels like too long to wait. Off to devour Iron Flame.

When I tell you I couldn’t put my phone down my screen time is no joke rn, I hope they make the book into a movie it was AMAZING!

Couldn’t put the book down at times, especially towards the end. It didn’t take long for me to be immersed the world and left me wanting more. Can’t wait to read the next one in the series.

I don’t understand how this is supposed to compare to ACOTAR or TOG. It was just too predictable and cliche. OF COURSE she is irresitibly drawn to the dark and brooding rebel’s son who wants her dead. OF COURSE he’s keeping secrets from her, which threaten their relationship. OF COURSE she bonds not only the most powerful dragon but TWO dragons. OF COURSE she wields a power not seen in a century. I mean it just went on and on and on with completely overdone themes and paper thin characters. Plus, the profuse swearing just got sooooooo old and was truly a poor substitute for proper dialogue. There was TONS of exposition that was just too obvious, the classic “telling instead of showing”, and abysmal foreshadowing for important events. The ONLY thing that made this book work was the constant threat of death and over the top combat scenes. Literally the only reason I even vaguely cared. Is this what passes for exemplary storytelling now days?? I wish to goodness I could have liked this more, but it feels like it needed another few rounds of polishing.

Hunger games mashed/copied from pern.. Ok world building and character growth. Fight scenes and battle scenes could use some work but overall, really good story.

People compare it to ACOTAR but I like it so much more than ACOTAR. The FMC is an interesting character and grows to be a formidable MC.

phenomenal! I am an avid reader and this book is the first book in a long time Ive been this excited about. im obviously late to the scene but it is so well written. So smart and sexy and engaging. Couldnt put it down!

I really liked every aspect of this book. At first the main character was a little hard to like but she eventually grew on me. I really recommend this book to anyone who likes fantasy, war, and/or dragons! There is very little spice in this book(3ish scenes), so this is perfect if you’re not into that. I really did enjoy this book, it’s not perfect, but it’s an easy book to enjoy.

This book is AMAZING from the first chapter. I love how there is world building throughout, slowing pushing the plot. I love the magic system in this world and I absolutely LOVE the dragons!

Trite, mediocre, with an occasional creative flourish that made it bare interesting enough to read until the awful cliche romance story turned it into a low level teen romance novel. Disappointing and dull

A very good read, lots of fun with the unexpected plot twists. It was annoying to have the sex scenes spelled out so graphically, otherwise a good read.

This is what happens if a Soap Opera goes to the Renaissance Fair to get a D&D costume.

It’s shallow and fake…and tries to make up for it with lame-erotica.

The. One. Word. Overemphasis…is as petty as the spoiled brats all of the characters are…stomping their feet because they think their own opinion of themselves is what the world owes them.

It gets as old as the other high school angst that this blathering, blundering attempt at a story wallows in.

This isn’t Fantasy or Sci-Fi, it’s a sophomore’s attempt to describe being an upperclassman at an elite, privileged daycare for snobs.

If you like Soap Opera as a genre, this will tickle your little high school brain.

If you like Fantasy or Sci-Fi, there are MUCH better options to consume.

This book is nothing new, if you want some dragons, find a book from an author that doesn’t support genocide.

the main character is the horniest character i've ever read. if you enjoy reading about how ever inch of her tingles as she imagine getting pounded by the love interest maybe this is for you

This book has a mix of every element I enjoy in books. I am a bit confused one how it will pan out in the next 4 books stemming from all the action from this one, but nonetheless excited.

Legit finished reading this in a day and can’t wait for November to get here. The book is the perfect balance of keeping readers wanting to turn every page, but also drawing them in with a great story. It’s been awhile since I’ve been excited to read a book and this one definitely hit the mark.

Academia, military, enemies to lovers, slow burn, betrayals, bonds, dragons, world building, easy to love/hate characters and a GREAT PLOT!!! This book has it all and Yarros put it together so well!

I usually fly though books, but I PURPOSELY read this one slow because I didn’t want it to end. When I finished, I immediately wanted to reread it just to stay in that world.

The best part of this book is in the acknowledgements section, Yarros thanks God first! Well done Yarros, I look forward to the second book!

This book was exhilarating to escape into! I loved the dragons, enemies-to-lovers, side characters, and the two main characters. The world felt real and well built. Violet and Xander felt relatable, fully developed, flawed and perfect for the plot. I stayed up all night reading this, and have decided to immediately reread it again tonight while I wait for book two.

Truly unique storyline, so well written, relatable and interesting characters. Honestly one of the best fantasy books I have read in a long long time. I rarely ever write reviews, but every fantasy lover should read this book.

This is a romance disguised as a sci-fi fiction novel.

Started this because I saw it compared to ACOTAR and boy am I glad I did!!! So, so good. The thrill, the plot twist, and the spicy romance… all amazing.

I know I would be one of the first to die but I would risk it all for Xander. It’s like the Hunger Games met Game of Thrones, and now it’s my new obsessions

This is a terrific read! I read the book in 3 days of binge reading and I can’t wait for the next one! If you like dark fantasy romance books, this is the one for you. I read about 2 books a month and I would say this is in my top 5 favorite books that I’ve read.

I wish I could live in the world that Rebecca created, but reading this book is the next best thing! Can't wait for the next book!
