Description

It was one of the most searing images of the twentieth century: two young boys, two princes, walking behind their mother’s coffin as the world watched in sorrow—and horror. As Princess Diana was laid to rest, billions wondered what Prince William and Prince Harry must be thinking and feeling—and how their lives would play out from that point on.
For Harry, this is that story at last.
Before losing his mother, twelve-year-old Prince Harry was known as the carefree one, the happy-go-lucky Spare to the more serious Heir. Grief changed everything. He struggled at school, struggled with anger, with loneliness—and, because he blamed the press for his mother’s death, he struggled to accept life in the spotlight.
At twenty-one, he joined the British Army. The discipline gave him structure, and two combat tours made him a hero at home. But he soon felt more lost than ever, suffering from post-traumatic stress and prone to crippling panic attacks. Above all, he couldn’t find true love.
Then he met Meghan. The world was swept away by the couple’s cinematic romance and rejoiced in their fairy-tale wedding. But from the beginning, Harry and Meghan were preyed upon by the press, subjected to waves of abuse, racism, and lies. Watching his wife suffer, their safety and mental health at risk, Harry saw no other way to prevent the tragedy of history repeating itself but to flee his mother country. Over the centuries, leaving the Royal Family was an act few had dared. The last to try, in fact, had been his mother. . . .
For the first time, Prince Harry tells his own story, chronicling his journey with raw, unflinching honesty. A landmark publication, Spare is full of insight, revelation, self-examination, and hard-won wisdom about the eternal power of love over grief.

A voice of reason. Harry is healing without blame, finger-pointing, or needing for a villainous family member.
It is obvious that the British press are the ones writing the bad reviews on this book. Perhaps the people of the UK will STOP buying the Tabs & take control of the narrative

Harry mentioned numerous times in his book how he hated school and he wasn’t the scholar type. But I don’t think he gives himself enough credit on how incredibly smart and well spoken he is. I used the dictionary option on my iPhone more times than I could count. Beautifully and bravely written. Much respect for Prince Harry who is not only down to earth, but extremely kind. Stay in America Duke and Dutches of Sussex, we call you our own.

Thank you, Harry

What a wonderful read. I must admit, I was one of those people who was drip-fed the drama in the press and believed it, made harsh, unfair, and uninformed judgements. I applaud Harry’s bravery to open up to the world, to tell his story, share his reality. Everyone has a right to be heard. The book had many heart-breaking moments. Yet, I was surprised at Harry’s humor, finding myself chuckling at many parts. The themes of change and growth are evident as Harry describes himself from early childhood into adulthood. One thing is very clear - Harry is an ordinary guy who has been forced to live through extraordinary circumstances. Although many readers may claim that his memoir vilifies his family, I believe the contrary: yes, they made mistakes, hurtful ones, but I am more readily able to see them as people and not as a distant public figure. In that respect, I feel Harry did the family a huge favor. I sincerely hope he and Meghan can heal from the past, and live long, happy, and fulfilling lives. As for me, I’ll be planning a trip to Botswana. Thanks, Harry.

As an American, the Royal family always piqued my curiousity. Diana was the best of the batch and to see what she was put through, while living, was heartbreaking. As a bit of a rebel myself, Harry has always been my favorite…now more than ever!
The Queen held the institution together. Charles and the vicious Camilla are a joke. God bless H and M. And thank God they got away from the most toxic, dysfunctional family ever. Welcome to Cali and the US, I for one am glad to have you here.

Let’s wish H, M and their children happiness.

I have no reason to doubt that this is a true telling of his life. Having lost family at a young age, I understand. What I think is remarkable is that they have survived that den of vipers. The best revenge I think is a life well lived. Hoping Harry, Meghan and the children have wonderful lives well lived.

I connected with this story. It was amazing to take in a first hand account of events that were unclear from a distance. And eye opening to how perverse our media has become worldwide.
I see you, Harry. And I believe you. My own experience with my family has been similar, to the point where I had to get my own answers in life. I was accused of brainwashing by therapy too, and it’s because they were afraid of my becoming a whole person and breaking the cycle of generational abuse. Some family members are just easier to love from a distance. Luckily I was able to reconnect after many years to forge a new relationship. I wish you all growth so this might be possible.
I am looking forward to the work you and Meg hope to achieve. And I support you and your lovely family. Nobody has a monopoly on kindness, I hope you all achieve your dreams and passions. Thank you for a window into your incredible life, and I will definitely watch my media consumption in the future.

Brilliantly written !! Thank you Prince Harry for your service and thank you from our family for your guidance on how to navigate PTSD . You opened up your life to give us just a fraction of what you were going through because we also saw parts of this unfold in front of our very eyes. This is a true story of surviving abuse from family as well as the press. We will always be here to wrap our arms around you and your family, our dear Harry.🥺🥺💔😂😂❤️👮‍♀️💪🏾

I read Diana in Her Own Words years ago. I like that Prince Harry tells his story too in order to beat the misinformation or disinformation that’s out there and also to clarify in order to salvage his and his wife’s reputation. He’s also forging into a new path of hope and healing with his new family.

This book speaks truth, heartbreak, pain, and sadness of what this man and his family went through. May he continue to speak the truth and not let someone else continue to do it for him. It’s worth the read…such as knowing the truth. I highly recommend it.

You cannot tell me Prince Harry is not an empath and a light worker. I absolutely loved this book. I have struggled to read due to my own challenges (adult ADD) and I could not put this down. I devoured it in one day. I love their Love. I always adored Diana and still feel deep pangs of pain thinking of what we lost when she left this physical plane. It brought such joy to read H telling us her spirit is indeed felt with both her sons. I am in awe of how mystical it felt finishing this book and I pray that even in my old age I may one day meet the captain of my own soul. I hope we all recognize Harry’s fortitude and what a paragon of integrity and genuinely kind soul he is. I pray we all share and live in this light I felt reading, the Giving Spirit of Diana, and that it brings forth a renewal of altruism and empathy toward one another that we saw in Princess Diana. Thank you Harry for bringing your mother back to us through all you, and the amazing Duchess of Sussex, do.

So very proud of Harry to break free from all the rules and the ancient times. (given no choice)Although I do respect customs and order I appreciate his bravery for standing up for what was right. He served for his country and NO ONE CAN TAKE HIS MILITARY TITLE AWAY he did what he did NO ONE CAN TAKE AWAY HIS BLOODLINE HE IS OF DIANA AND CHARLES like it or not he is ROYAL. I read this book so quickly I couldn’t put it down

I am happy for him to have the chance to share his experiences and OUR effect on his life. We are told countless fairy tales of the chivalrous prince but in reality chide him for actually being so, demanding he actually be a circus monkey only there for public entertainment. How sad for him to lose his mother at such a young age, to feel so alone, so suffocated, so lost. Not one person that criticizes or demeans him could walk a mile in his shoes.

It’s not what I expected at all. It’s an honest account of his life. It’s not harsh and isn’t an attempt to drag anyone in his family. Rather, he delicately unpacks his life experiences and talks about the difficult moments in his personal and familial life. There is a lot of very important context given. I highly recommend!

I don’t know why everyone is so up in arms about this couple. They have every right to tell their truths. Obviously, the “Firm” is not being controlled by the Monarch. Their order is dusty and outdated. Time to drain the swamp! As a veteran, I understand trauma. Harry is a survivor. His childhood trauma as well as no emotional comfort or therapy after his Mummy passed is horrible. I love that he said the military grounded him and allowed him to find himself while living amongst “commoners.” He no doubt has PTSD and his family strikes me as one that would say, snap out of it! Loved the flow of the book with each milestone in his life clearly outlined. I could feel his love for his family and the monarchy. But in the end, he chose love. I understand you Harry and I support you👏🏻❤️

This young man is trying to live a normal life and show the world that the monarchy is not all that we think it is and here on the reviews he is being bashed. That’s what’s wrong with the world, everyone is so judgmental from all the jealousy they hold deep inside. Be happy for him and his family, he is trying to protect to have a “normal” life. Stop bashing, just move on with your own happy life and let them be.

Highly recommend. This book does not talk bad about his family as portrayed but gives a lot of context to different events from his perspective. The psychological implications he faced after his mothers death was heartbreaking and sets the tone for how he carried that hurt throughout the years. It does a great job of showing how vilified him and Meghan were and how his family played into that. It makes a lot more sense why they decided to leave.

No matter what people say or think about Harry and the book. I found it moving insightful and entertaining. I related to the fantasy of believing his mother was still alive,, I felt the same about my dad. If there is a question that isn’t unanswered is perhaps that I felt as I read the book that Harry was holding back from actually being as transparent as he had said. Especially in the case of Camilla. How difficult to grow up knowing that your dad has a mistress then finally living through divorce his moms tragic dead to finally having that one person become step mum not to mention queen consort. I felt his words at time infantile yet mature at others let’s not forget that this story has been in him since age 12.

Honest and Forthright

To the negative reviewer‘s, you have to have such a lack of empathy to tear Harry apart for having the gumption to come forward and expose the sordid oppression within the palace walls that is being sponsored by the very taxpayers who live in the UK. Harry’s biography is sprinkled with his highs and lows, starting with the death of his mom, which has impacted his entire life until now. You can blame Meghan all you want for bringing this truth out of him, but if you read the book, and really absorb it from cover to cover, you realize that he’s had a truth to expound upon since the untimely death of his mother, and now he’s had a chance to let the world know the real truth of the Royals. If you don’t like that truth, then this is not the book for you. I see so much of Diana in Harry, a child, a teenager, an adult, who was stuck in a corner and disregarded because he was the Spare, who has a lot to say, and who wants to share it with the world. Good for him! Diana would be proud!

Great book, Harry had to expose some things behind the curtain. If the Brits hate him for that, it’s ironic. I think he is one of the strongest members of the Royal Family, definitely his mother’s son, and that’s a compliment. Any negative reviews are probably from the palace, or the British press.

This man needs help. The whole book (the majority of the free version) was nothing but a perverse longing for his mommy and trying to use her as a way to blame the world for his own problems; profit from her death.
