Classifying Sectors presents an academic analysis of international growth accounting productivity data, to identify an objective method of classifying industrial sectors according to their productivity-related characteristics.

This method, using least squares linear regression and principal component analysis of the resultant sector-related parameter sets, produces three sector factors - the ‘capital type’, the ‘quality type’ and the ‘innovation type’.
