After reading Acheron, I thought it would be impossible to like his brother, Styxx, but Sherrilyn Kenyon made me love him and did it with style! Styxx is portrayed in Acheron as Acheron's terrible, mean, abusive, human twin brother. In Styxx you learn his side of the story, and discover he is an amazing, loving, compassionate, sexy, strong, warrior who tries and fights with everything he is for his family, brother, and love. You relive the life story of these twins from the prospective of the "human" "flawed" twin instead of the "god" twin. It's the same events that happened in Acheron for a lot of the book, but you learn a lot of secrets that Acheron didn't know. Even though it was the same events the prospective of Styxx made it feel like a new story and I never once felt like I already "knew" this story or what was going to happen next. The book also progresses further into the current life of the characters and warms your heart when the characters fight and find forgiveness, love, and justice. By the end, I found myself cheering when everyone gets their just rewards. I've never read a series that was like this, I was amazed by how S.K. Was able to tell the same story and events yet completely change how I felt about Styxx. She started the book explaining how history is subject to which prospective and person is telling the story and then demonstrates that with these books. Her writing is genius. Her characters, plot, history, prospectives, and writing style achieve greatness on the level of Tolkin, Jane Austin, Emily Bronte, Shakespeare, J. K. Rowling, Isaac Asimov, or Euripides. This is one of the best books and series I've ever read. She tells an amazing Fantasy, tragic, love story in the ancient and modern world in an way that creates a masterpiece of a puzzle piece that when assembled with the other books in this series construct a world as amazing as middle earth but original and unique because of her history and writing perspective techniques. Each book in the series is one view into this world and you can't have the whole picture until you read them all. Just like in life where the truth is constructed from multiple views and people this series is a history of events that are viewed differently by everyone involved. She shares philosophy, history, and moral ideas by telling a story of love and forgiveness from every angle to communicate our basic human truths...people are all the same throughout time, history, and the world, we all need love and forgiveness, we all feel abused by life and others, we all have injustice in our life, we all struggle to love ourselves. However if we can learn to accept, forgive, and fight for our rights and fight for love then there's a chance at a happily ever after with our family and friends. -H
