😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😜😍i read the whole series and i cant remember what happened in the 2nd book, but all i know is this, all of the books were amazing! I wanna see the movie, but it's pg13, and im not allowed to watch violence, which is ironic since my fav geners r horror and adventure! Im just really disappointed that in the movie, Jake falls in love with emma, who can levitate?! 😭😭😭😭😭no!!!!!!!! I ship jake and emma-who can make fire!!!!!!😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭i hate the movies, that ruin the books, and all society knows is the movie. And their just missing out. Just like percy jackson. Um hello? The movie was awful.
I know this has nothing to do with this book, but PEOPLE: BOOKS ARE ALWAYS BETTER THAN MOVIES. i read the graphic novel for this and even the book is more indepth, which is rare, considering the fact that im also a huge comic book geek, since im a graphic artist. But anyways, lovelies, read this book. U wont regret it. Also if u like this read MILA 2.0! Anyone who loves this will luv luv mila.

Too tangled in travels that confused the reader. Hard to follow in many parts in the middle. Great beginning and ending.

The adventures are so captivating and surprising! I most definitely recommend this series as a MUST read! Looking forward to the release of the third book on Sept. 22, 2015!!

Amazing book and wonderful, well written, strong ending. I can't wait for the next one. Took me a long time to read because it is pretty slow and the beginning. Easy to read because it doesn't stop but you need to dedicate time to it. Other than that, probably one of the best sequels I've read in a loooong time. #twothumbsup

I bought the first book in this series, "Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children," and read it in a week! Rushed to buy "Hollow City," (the second book in the series) and read it in only a few days! It's been a while since I've fallen in love with fiction books again and I'm completely hooked! Ransom Riggs is an amazing author and I am anticipating the third book in this series! Can't wait until he releases it! This is a must read and if you're wondering what it's about there's a YouTube trailer for the first book! Enjoy!

This book is amazing it. Adds a hole new dimension to the series. While the first was great this one still tops it and as most people who read know there will be a third book and a movie in 2015 directed by Tim burton the next book will also be coming out next year

'Hollow City' is Hauntingly Imaginative

When I was little, I had this recurring dream that involved a hollowed out tree trunk that transported me to a magical world where real-time stopped. While I’m aware that I’ve likely attributed more details to the dream than actually happened, I remember it vividly. It’s precisely because of this memory that I loved Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children by Random Riggs, which has a similar time-loop effect, albeit much more interesting and sinister than my own make-believe world. I adored the book so much (despite the fact that it’s YA) and was thrilled when Jennifer at Bookaclious Mama sent me her copy of the sequel.
To start, let me say that the book is heavy. I don’t mean heavy as in difficult to read or overly long, but that it is physically heavy. This beautiful book is ornate and filled with real antique photographs that add a dimension of authenticity to the book. Picking up where Miss Peregrine’s leaves off, Hollow City hits the ground running and keeps up the fact pace for the length of the novel. As the children race against the clock to save someone they love, they bounce from loop to loop in search of safety. Much of the book is fairly dark (one of the loops is set during WWII), which makes it a more mature read than its predecessor, but Riggs blends history with this magical world seamlessly.
One thing I loved about this book was the advanced character development. Although I loved the characters in the first installment, I absolutely adored them by the end of the second; Hollow City is less about each child’s abilities and more about their personalities. Rather than explaining each child’s peculiar-ness and their personal history, this book is about how the ability is simply a part of their daily lives. In addition, there is more emphasis on the interactions and relationships between the children, which adds to the book a component that wasn’t as important to the story line in Miss P.
I encourage adults and teens to pick up this book for two reasons. First, it’s fantastic, although I recommend reading Miss P. first. Second, even if you don’t read the book, the pictures are incredible. If you’re an adult who snubs YA (as I often do), I still recommend giving this one a try. It’s not your usual YA book and is actually pretty heavy for the genre. Plus, the story behind how the book came to be is fascinating in its own right – it was supposed to be a children’s picture book but the editors at Quirk Books convinced Riggs to turn it into a story.

Great series!!!

I remember reading Miss Peregrines Home for Peculiar Children three years ago, in fourth grade. It was eerie. It was creepy. It was dark. It was one of those books where it took a while to feel normal after reading it. I didn't think it was possible to match the speed of that book, but Riggs proved me wrong. The pictures in this book add a whole new dynamic, which just adds to the creepiness. Not that the pictures in the other book weren't good, it just felt like the pictures in this one fit in better. It makes you feel more immersed and involved with the book. Everything that was great in the first book is even better in this one. I will say, it can get a little bit gritty at times, but you have to keep pushing through. Riggs takes you on an adventure that no other book can offer (aside from Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children). If you haven't read the first book, I highly recommend you read that before you read this, as it it provides very important background information. If you have already read the first book, don't wait another minute. Just read this book. It will be well worth your time and money. Oh, and if you think you will have a hard time remembering where you left off, don't worry. Ransom does a great job of subtly reminding you what had happened previously.

I went into Barnes & Noble one day and just picked up the first book, randomly, and immediately fell in love. The aestheticity of the photographs is incredible and helps to blossom a fantastic imagination in your head. I'm looking forward to this sequel to see what Riggs has in store for us all this round.
