Description

This novel dramatizes an incident that took place in a California school in 1969. A teacher creates an experimental movement in his class to help students understand how people could have followed Hitler. The results are astounding. The highly disciplined group, modeled on the principles of the Hilter Youth, has its own salute, chants, and special ways of acting as a unit and sweeps beyond the class and throughout the school, evolving into a society willing to give up freedom for regimentation and blind obedience to their leader. All will learn a lesson that will never be forgotten.

A great read

This book was a required read in high school, but, I can say I honestly didn't remember much of it. The story has a powerful lesson to be learned, one that I'm not sure society has fully learned, or ever will. A captivating story from start to finish, and quite easy to read.

Four Stars

I liked it but I felt like there was too much hype for the endings big reveal, which ended up being quite predictable. I would still recommend this as a quick read if you're interested in reading a social commentary.

The Wave

This is the type of book that stays with you. As we ponder the depths of social interaction and occupancy it becomes clear and powerful our responsibility to our core values. Examining each relationship and it's true dynamic requires time and precise attention to experience it purely and extract a meaningful measure. We must not let our pride or intellect or wealth or stature or position allow us to pass judgement upon our fellow man but let us open our hearts to compassion and kindness and love and grace as it has been granted to us, in even the smallest tokens, to pass on to our fellow man, woman, and child, the sick, the broken and the hurting. As we embrace them so can we be embraced, accepted, allowed to feel the warmth and comfort of an extended community upon this earth.

I think that this book was a good idea I just didn't think it was very attention grabbing as it should have been.
