Description

“Full of emotional angst, scorching love scenes, and a compelling storyline.”—Dear Author
THE NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER
Gideon Cross came into my life like lightning in the darkness…
He was beautiful and brilliant, jagged and white-hot. I was drawn to him as I’d never been to anything or anyone in my life. I craved his touch like a drug, even knowing it would weaken me. I was flawed and damaged, and he opened those cracks in me so easily…
Gideon knew. He had demons of his own. And we would become the mirrors that reflected each other’s most private wounds…and desires.
The bonds of his love transformed me, even as i prayed that the torment of our pasts didn't tear us apart...

I lost count, I definitely love this book. As a matter of fact, I love the complete trilogy. Can't wait when it becomes a movie. Maybe on cable, Starz or Encore!!! 😁

I liked it more than Fifty Shades. It seemed more realistic to me, and it has way more drama. Plus, I really like Eva's personality.

Sylvia Day has done an amazing job in this series! Even as I write this I feel like that's an understatement. Gideon and Eva's love for one another and their independent lives continually collide and crash in pure emotional suspense. I literally couldn't put them down! This is a once in a lifetime love story that is wrapped up in some pretty detrimental life altering circumstances. I found myself constantly flipping to the next page and rooting for "GidEva" through the entire series!

Wow. I am impressed by this hot, profoundly felt love story. Sylvia Day's characters and writing are next level. I am canceling my plans so I can read book #2. Heartfelt and Hot - a winning combination.

Good read but repetitive.

In the beginning I couldn't put this book down. I loved reading every word. But as chapters went by it became too repetitive. He upsets her=she runs=he explains his way out=mild blowing sex=repeat. It was well written in the way it keeps you reading but I almost decided not to finish because it was too predictable in the cycle of their relationship.

The sex is too much. Just like fifty shades, I keep skipping pages. Why does it have to be in almost pages? It's so boring....

I love the final book in this series. After reading FSOG, I found this series. It's written so well, a true love story. The storyline is hot and the sex scene are steamy. Thank you for such a fantastic series. Thank you for the twist and turns. Thank you for allowing them to gradually evolve. The story builds and so does the obsession with these books. Bravo!

This is not just like 50 in my opinion. Yes there is a lot of sex, but I knew that before I bought it! I felt the story was much better than 50 shades. No, you don't know a lot about the characters after the first book. It's a series that you will have to read in its entirety to get to know the characters. I really enjoyed these characters more than I thought I would. I liked that they both had issues they needed to overcome, and I didn't find the female character to be weak.
If you're expecting an awe inspiring read you should probably search for a book outside of erotic romance, but for a book of this type, I thought it was a fun read! Can't wait to read the last one when it comes out!

I fell in love with this book!! I could not put it down the story was so enthralling! The author caught me from page one. I wanted to see how it ended but I was sad when I finished the book I loved it so much. Gideon is a dominant man with the most loving sexy hot side to him. Eva was his perfect match. I am so glad this book shows a dominant man that isn't beating and demeaning his partner. The story made me cheer their love on. I am buying all 4 books to this series and preordered book 5. I don't know how I can wait until April for book 5 though. I could keep reading about Gideon and Eva and Cary for many more books. I will read all this authors books.

I googled what to read after 50 Shades & this book was at the top of the list. One of the reviews mentioned it was better than 50 Shades & had a better plot. After finishing it, I was aggravated. Better plot how? It was as though the writer dissected 50 Shades & attempted to rewrite it with more time spent on how to recreate a storyline enough NOT to plagiarize. The book simply ended, period! I understand the writer wants to split the story line for profit, but I'm so irritated, I'm moving on to another series. Gideon Cross was another name for the character of Christian Grey. Both loaded, both emotionally unattached prior to the female character, both controlling, jealous, possessive, dominants requiring their lover to be submissive, both in need of psychiatric help & both saved by the leading lady with which they cannot live without and rather loose their entire wealth than the loss of their loves. Wish I would have had a movie marathon on Netflix than waste my time.

No Fifty- but still good.

I LOVED Fifty Shades so I thought this would be a good read to keep me occupied. It is very similar to Fifty, but still has a different twist too it. I read all 4 books within a week, it was a pretty easy read. I really do like it but there is something about the book that still doesn't sit right with me. I haven't decided if the male lead is just plain obsessive and possessive or if it actually is true love. This book definitely makes Fifty Shades look like a kids books with all the sex scenes. After a while I had to skip over some of the parts because it's just so constant and a little more harsh with the verbiage. But overall pretty good book and I'm looking forward for the 5th one to come out.

Loved it!

Yes I am a fifty shades fan, please do not make the mistake that other reviews have done by trying to compare the two books for the same feel. This book is an erotic love story the main characters Gideon and Eva both have there issues totally different from fifty shades. While the initial setting can appear similar (meeting in the office building etc....) the story line is completely different this women is more mature just getting started the male also a man of great wealth with issues. I loved the book the book finished in one night Eva is crazy I felt like I was in the moments of Eva craziness. You won't be sorry for the read.

This series is written perfection.

I cannot count how many times I've read each book in this series. Each book is fantastically written and flows smoothly into the next novel. The characters are solid and ooze conflict and romance. Must read book and series. It's not too hardcore, but it's definitely not soft either. It's just right - perfect.

An honest review that I'm sure not everyone will agree with. I bare it all to you.

He was beautiful and brilliant, jagged and white-hot. I was drawn to him as I'd never been to anything or anyone in my life. I craved his touch like a drug, even knowing it would weaken me. I was flawed and damaged, and he opened those cracks in me so easily...
Eva works in the same building as Gideon and literally bumps into him at the elevator. Gideon is quite forward in his approach with Eva. Physical beautiful is not as important as what is in the inside. Eva is a shallow character by constantly stating how she cannot deny Gideon.
Gideon knew. He had demons of his own. And we would become the mirrors that reflected each other's most private worlds...and desires.
We never find out what trounces Gideon. All we understand is jus has nightmares.
The bonds of his love transformed me, even as I prayed that the torment of our pasts didn't tear us apart...
Eva speculates the situations with Gideon with too much drama. She jumps to unnecessary conclusions without clarification. These sex scenes become so robot having read them over and over again. No originality. Authors continue to harbor the same patterns in the bedroom. It's time to skip through the sex scenes which leaves virtually very little appealing storyline. So quick to judge and speculate. Let's run and pout instead of face the situation head on. She even has her own bedroom to run and pout in. It sickens me that Eva uses sex as a weapon for forgiveness. Way too many pages about sex. If you remove these sex scenes you won't be left with much of a story. Every situation with Eva is faced with insecurity and lack of trust. She jumps to conclusions. She has these preconceived ideas about every tiny detail with Gideon. These characters are toxic and I can't wait to rid the toxins. I felt unattached to these characters and I'm proud to say that. I would never want to be anything like these characters.

Unique, yet perfect

I bought this thinking it would be close to 50 shades of grey. I have to say, some parts were similar, others not so much. I found that the relationship between Eva and Gideon moves very fast compared to Christian and Anastasia. Saying that, I did like this book and I recommend it. Just don't go in thinking of Christian and Ana. you'll set yourself up for disappointment.

This was my first read after the fifty shades trilogy, and I will honestly say that I really enjoyed Eva and Gideon's story. It was refreshing to get acquainted with new personalities and the new DRAMA. The drama was so thick you could cut it with a knife, but I loved every page of it.

Very cleaver for this book to be promoted as a Fifty Shades of Grey equal. Unfortunately, this couple's relationship lacks the intensity and emotions of Ana and Christain. I recently read 50 shades and I didn't understand all the hype. Half way throw the 2nd book I was annoyed, bored, and over the sex. I kept reading bc I started and had to finished. I was hesitant to read this book bc I was so over 50 shades but after a day or two I gave it a shot. I liked this story infinitely better than 50 shades. It lacked the repetition that 50 shades had which I was very grateful for. I'm addition, it felt that it was written much better And I honestly can't wait for the sequel! :)

Indeed--- there are several similarities between "Bared to You" and "Fifty Shades of Grey." I don't want to go into details. But I'll just say that I like "Fifty Shades of Grey" better. "Bared to You" is written better. The diction is not as cheap . But the problem for me is that the characters lack chemistry. I feel like it was just sex over and over and over. There were points where I read over the love scenes because I was tired of them.

I liked this book more than I disliked it.
But still... The story felt underdeveloped and at the end I was like that's it? Seriously? It felt like the author lost steam and just ended it without resolving anything.
For example, what exactly happened in Gideon's past? What was the deal with the whole maga krav thing? It had no real relevance in the story. What's up with Gideon's brother and mom? What about Cary going off the deep end?It was just left open and nothing really came out of it or was resolved. Also what's up with the power exchange bdsm part? It seemed like an after thought and in reality there really wasn't any bdsm to speak of. I mean yeah he obviously was sexually more in control but it wasn't anything out of the ordinary other than their getting it on 24/7.
Like others said. It's way too similar to fifty shades but not nearly as good. I liked that Eva was a stronger woman than Ana but she didn't feel as real. And it seemed weird how he was supposedly so crazy for her yet kept ignoring her. Gideon pales in comparison to Christian Grey.
In the end I felt it wasn't cohesive enough and the plot was underdeveloped. If she continues it I really hope the next book will be better.

Better than 50!

I found this story to be written much better technically and descriptively than 50. I loved G.C. and the complex nature of his character. I hated Christian in the first book to the point that I had to force myself to read the next book. Sylvia does a much better job at getting the reader to like the hero in this book. There is really zero comparison. Bared to You is a great book! I can't wait for the next book!

This book was just all right. The story was underdeveloped and very predictable. I really tried not to compare it to Fifty Shades, but there were so many striking similarities that wasn't possible. I'm not one to stop reading a story in the middle -- I like to give it a whole-hearted chance -- so I did finish it, but it felt like a waste of time reading a copycat book. If you haven't read Fifty Shades yet, you'll probably enjoy Bared To Me. Personally, I was unimpressed.

Not Bad

I enjoyed the storyline. However, I believe it hardly compares to 50 Shades of Grey. The story itself, is an interesting read, but the verbiage was a bit too harsh for my taste. I'm interested in reading more are Eva and Gideon, but could do without some of the explicit sex ventures.

Great

I've had this one in my TBR pile for awhile. After reading 50 Shades, I decided to give myself a bit of time before delving into this one because of all the talk of the similarities between the two. I'm glad I waited because I think that distance enabled me to appreciate the similarities and differences between the two.
Gideon Cross is an uber wealthy 28 year old who happens to run into Eva Trammel as she times her commute from her apartment to her new job at the Crossfire building. She has no idea who the god-like man with dark hair and blue eyes is, but her stirs two emotions in her (even if she didn't quite realize what those were at the time): fear and hope.
As I read the first half of the book, I could see how Eva's reluctance to bend to Gideon's will would have others saying this was similar to 50 Shades. He does have stalker tendencies. She, in no uncertain terms, tells Gideon she doesn't want anything to do with him. But for me, once you get past that and follow them as their embark on their relationship the similarities ended.
Eva and Gideon both have a very key and vital parts of them that is broken. They have trust issues related to the events that caused them to be the way they are. They both struggle for control over their relationship because that is what they need to make sure the past does't repeat itself.
While Gideon tends to alienate himself to ensure complete control, Eva has surrounded herself with people that have just as many issues as she has (which can't be good for her recovery either). Her best friend, Cary, is a recovering something (addict maybe) who she met in therapy in San Diego and hasn't been separated from since. We, along with Eva, get to watch him self-destruct and it makes you wonder what kind of effect that will have on Eva. Then there is Eva's mother. She's a whole lot of "out there" and definitely someone who blurs and crosses lines for her "piece of mind" regardless of the affect that will have on her daughter. While Gideon does fit into that same role with Eva, you can also see a hint of them wanting to break out of the molds they have both put themselves in and work together towards something healthy.
The one thing you'd think these two would have it together on was the sex, considering how combustible they were from their very first kiss. But even with sex they had issues, granted not quite as large as everything else in their relationship, but it was still there. I did scratch my head when Gideon declared that Eva was a submissive, because everything we'd seen in their sex life up to that point showed them pretty evenly matched. I mean, who wouldn't melt if you had a god-like man that turned you on giving you multiple orgasms. But after thinking about it, I could see where Eva was a submissive, reluctantly.
Clearly it's not going to be a clean and easy process. The last half of the book was messy and emotional, leaving me wondering "what next" as I flipped the page to see what would happen.
Sylvia Day has created two very complex characters who's emotional scars are laid bare for us to read. Both of them are hard to connect with, because of those emotional scars, but as the story progresses and they share more of themselves with each other you can start to understand them better. I look forward to reading Deeper In You and learning more about Gideon and Eva.

Definitely, cured my withdrawal from Fifty Shades. Has a lot of similarities to my favorite new trilogy. Romance & lots of sex is what Eva & Gideon's push and pull relationship as they both work through their inner demons left me wanting more.
