What an amazing book! I love the sophisticated details of this dystopian novel, made it an excellent and interesting book with the cute romance. I would recommend this trilogy to anybody looking for a dystopian United States to go ahead and read.

It's so good I've read it 3 times

I started reading this series a week ago. It's impossible to put down. I'd never thought I'd say this, but I think it's as good as The Hunger Games. Sci-Fi + Dystopian + Romance + Action = Amazing! I definitely recommend it.

This series is BY FAR my favorite. Better than Divergent, Hunger Games, etc... I love the strong female lead. I also enjoyed the action. I picture it like the slow motion, matrix style fighting. June and Day are the best love story I have read in the Dystopian genre.

Legend is the first of a trilogy. Set in a future where parts of the US have become The Republic, and others 'The Colonies' (and they are at war, plus the Republic is also facing a rebellion in its own borders), weather is extreme and society has become more structured, the haves and the have-nots more obvious. June Iparis is a prodigy - the only individual in the Republic to score perfectly on their trial which is used to determine what level education you receive and what jobs you are suited for. She is also an orphan. Early-on, she narrates her rebellious streak, her relationship with her beloved brother, and how wonderful and powerful and good the Republic is.

Then, there is Day. He narrates his life as one of the society's less fortunate. He's from a poor slum where life is hard, resources scarce, and plague a constant threat. He's supposed to be dead, failed his trial, and now, he's wanted for criminal activity - he likes to disrupt the Republic by bombing things, steal supplies, etc although he's never killed anyone.

When Day risks everything to save a family member, June hunts him - for personal reasons. As is typical of dystopian novels, she comes to learn that not everything she was taught is the truth. But, her conflict with Day is personal.

Both narrators are well-drawn, voices distinct enough. The action is tight and the novel moves along quickly, without extraneous plots of giant chunks of exposition explaining the history of the world. In fact, few details are known on the how or why, or even a complete picture of the current state of the world of Day and June. The focus is on the characters and the action. The theme and the connection to issues of today are clear, but not overdone - no long speeches or chapters of rumination on the meaning of it all. No big surprises or twists, but it also didn't feel contrived or unoriginal. And while the changing relationship between the two narratives is expected, it isn't overly angst-filled or focused on more than the plot or theme.

Legend is one of the better YA fantasy novels.

The whole entire series was amazing, hands down the best book series I have ever come across. I'm a bit sad about the ending of Champion, but I have fanfiction 😉.

This is one of my favorite books of all time, so I really want it to get made into a movie. May I suggest Thomas Brodie-Sangster as Day and Shailene Woodley or Britt Robertson as June? They SO look the parts! And plus, my 2nd celeb crush and my friends fave movie star doin' dirty stuff in the bathroom! AW YEAH! And seeing newt from the maze runner without a shirt on, oh, the HEAT! You'll understand those last two sentences if you read prodigy. This is such a good book. Read it, you won't regret it.

MUST READ IF U LOVE DYSTOPIAN reading

Before legend I did not enjoy reading but when my teacher introduced me to this book I fell in love with it. Marie Lu has a powerful skill she can pull u into a book and u never want to come out. U can't compare this to another book because there's not a book that is like this one. Marie Lu changed my life because she made enjoy reading and I want to thank her for that. If u don't want to read this book it's your loss because it is totally worth the money. :)

This book is indescribably incredible. Marie Lu is, as of this book, the most brilliant author I have ever come across, and a bookworm like me should know that. She finds a way to set things up so that other events can take place later in the book. She incorporates details, romance, and action in the perfect balance that leaves readers drooling for more. You never question anything in this book, it all fits together so perfectly without being 'too good to be true'. Ugh, I could go on and on about EVERYTHING but I'll let you find out for yourself. It is INHUMAN not to fall in love with this book, it's characters, and Marie Lu herself. This is the best book ever! Be sure not to miss the next two books, Prodigy and Champion. I also highly recommend her latest series starting with The Young Elites. Please make Legend into a movie!

I'm 14 and I hate book but when I read the first book I couldn't stop reading it. I read all book 2 times now. daly I'm getting in trouble in class for reading them. I'm a teen and like romance, action, and adventure book so this book is the best book for a teenager.

This book was just amazing. I couldn't put it down and I loved it!!!

With the romance of Divergent and the action of Hunger Games, this book unravels into a great read. Once I picked it up I was unable to put it down. The story tells of a confident girl with amazing skills that makes her famous in the community.

But, she is not the only one everyone is buzzing about on the streets. Day is the notorious criminal the government wants to find more than anything.

Once Day is accused of murdering Junes brother, Matias, June is assigned to hunt him down and turn him in. But once she meets him, she may change her mind on turning him in. Maybe she has feelings for him, but why? He's a criminal. The most wanted.

I give this book 5 stars because it was amazingly written and fun to read. The personalities are well put together.

Great possibilities here. A little light on subplot and a bit predictable, but could be redone in the tradition of excellent anime like "Full Metal Alchemist-Brotherhood".

The book legend is okay I mean I wasn't really that interested but I liked a little more than 3/4 of the book. I think the hunger games is better.

I thought this book was very good, Lu has made the story seem so real and exciting. Although the concept was very good I did have some trouble telling each character's point of view. Sometimes I would have to flip to the previous page to understand what was going on. This is why I give this a book a four star rating. In conclusion I recommend this book to anyone who likes action and adventure and I can't wait for the movie.

I usually get bored with books, like in Divergent, when they have to much detail or characters. This book has everything but with limits.Usually I take about two weeks to read a book, but I read Legend in 2 days. I enjoyed this book because it had a different theme, and I could relate with it.

This book is very confusing. I have read a lot of the book and still do not know who or what the main character is. I also do not what is happening in the book. I think this is a very bad book and don't buy this. You will get lost in 5 seconds.

Marie Lu impresses with this novel. It was unique with alternating point of views from Day and June. There was plenty of suspense and action. The setting of a dystopian Los Angeles was descriptive and would make for a good movie. The only critique would be that June was a bit too "perfect" and not believable.

I am a picky reader and not many books get my attention. Only certain books I finish and not many I enjoy. This is one of the few books I have loved every page of making me want more. I wish all books could be like this one. There are so many twists and turns that are very unexpected. If they ever come out with a movie I will be the first to see!

anyone who is a fan of the post-apocalyptic theme will enjoy this book. Some will enjoy it more than others, but overall I thought it was simply fantastic. The second book in the series is expected in January, and I cannot wait for it to come out. The credits at the end of the book suggest a movie, I suggest that any interested persons read this book before then, it's simply amazing!

This book is so good! I highly recommend it to anyone who likes to read! There are so many surprises and the action parts are great. The only annoying thing is that the world of Legend with all the sectors and stuff is explained as if we already know how it is. And it never really says what the beliefs of the Colonies and Patriots are, so I'm not sure which out of the two are the "good guys". But those things aren't enough for me to lower my rating to four stars. This book is must-read and I'm so excited for the next one to come out!!

Took me a while to read, a little slow to start but once I got to the middle I knew I should keep reading and once to the ending I finished in one sitting. This book is great, pay attention to the little details because they do play a role in the end of this book. Very good substance wise.

Good book

I enjoyed the story line in this book a lot. The idea is stellar. I thought the execution could have been more action packed and adventurous. The whole book I expected a rock my world ending, came close but came up a little short in my view. Also a little sappy in the love line, but that is understandable. I was not hooked but was curious throughout and enjoyed it. Well done and would recommend it.

To me, this book seemed like a mixture of 'The Demon King' by Cinda Williams Chima and 'The Hunger Games' by Suzanne Collins (But you already knew that, yeah?), which I both loved!
