I love this book but was very disappointed at the end. I was anticipating a chapter about the birth of their child and the arrival of Johanna's mother but the book just ends.Then the strange epilogue about the bishops death. I didn't give two hoots about the bishop. I wanted to find out about Gabriel and Johanna and what happened afterwards, did she have a boy or a girl???Thats why I only gave this three stars. It was a long book only to have it just end. Books like this just annoy me when authors do that. Just a personal preference.

Beautifully written, strong and feminine heroine meets and falls in love with her equally strong yet reasonably sensitive warrior...only in romantic fiction? I would like to think not...and during the time I thoroughly enjoyed the unwinding of her s excellent highland tale, it is definitely true.

I highly recommend what is likely one of my all-time favorite books with characters I admire and a love which is beautiful as well as believable. Sprinkled with humor and soaked with a cherished tale of honor and family, winning against the powers of evil, and courage in the face of fear, I hope you enjoy this read as much as I do--every time I read it!

This is it the book that started me reading and the one I love the most out of the thousand I've read now. It's so good every page! Just adore it!!!

Unlike Garwoods other amazing books this was often dragged. At 1/2 the pages it would have been much better. I will always be a fan.

This is definitely one of Garwood's signature works. Although I think Ransom, The Wedding, and The Secret are better novels compared to this one. All are about English heroines involved with highland lairds. The Prize and Honor's Splendor are my favorites among all her works.

I love how all of Julie Garwood's books are all lovey dovey and happy and then they have just a little problem in them. They give the reader a respite from the busyness of everyday life and give them the chance to take part in another life! Thanks for all of the wonderful stories! Every single one of her books is amazing!
